ltd nice price deal - culprit favourite and nyc wonder m a n i k returns with his second release for the label with >she watches me<, featuring a choice remix from the revenge.
few producers in underground dance music have had as prolifically dense an output as chris manik (m a n i k) over the last two years. he joins the-likes-of maya jane coles, maceo plex and subb-an, as an artist who seem to have unnerving quality control, making every one of their tracks count. no wonder then, that culprit was delighted for m a n i k to return for his second record on the label, and his first full original release since the acclaimed lp for ovum earlier this year. culprit scored another coup when m a n i k, who prefers for his original music to stand alone, agreed to have >she watches me< be remixed. the legendary graeme clark aka the revenge was a fitting choice for this rare occasion.
LONDON NIGHTS EP (FEAT JASON HEATH, BURNSKI & RALPH LAWSON REMIXES)
12 Inch 09.03.18
dokta has been seen lurking around 20:20 vision with a curious take on that label s particular brand of house. that step to the left becomes more pronounced on this record, where dokta gets to call on a wealth of live instrumentation to animate his sound. on london nights he interweaves vocal, ambling keys and crooked basslines into a curious and utterly inspired cocktail of cool-headed pressure, which jason heath then simmers down to a purely instrumental refrain. burnski goes to the other extreme and beefs the track up for a firm and functional ride, while ralph lawson dubs the track out and gives it a low slung swagger.
manik returns to fresh meat with an ep written with us in mind. after successfully completing his second full-length for ovum, the nyc native has created music inspired by chicago s gritty roots. the 4 tracks speak to the raw, dark, basement vibe that so many of us grew up with.
nice price deal !!! there was once was a spider named roger mor. he lived a quiet life in the english countryside until the raves of the early 90s. he began to munch lots of random things that he found of these fields. as a result of this munching he evolved into something mother nature did not design ... a manic spider raver called mor manikmor manik says, i weaved digital into my web and i didn’t let him out until he produced the goods
