lithuanischer produzent subliminal debütiert mit einem sechstrackigen ep auf distrito 91, das elektro und techno mit rohen analogen klanglandschaften verbindet. strong elektro stuff 6 tracker!
(dj dextro remix) techno icons damon wild and tim taylor, renowned for their influential track bang the acid on the legendary missile label, are set to make waves once again.
this is giovanni s 7th collaboration with star creature. so far he s given us electro machine funk, african inspired disco, nu-italo, dark wave and acid boogie. this venture seems to take a slight step back to earlier 80 s, maybe even late 70 s style african funk and disco.
>another psychedelic afternoon< lunges in with minimalistic percussion, acidic bass lines and radio voices. the progression of the track keeps one moving while the fluctuation in the velocity and warmth of the sound keeps the explorative side of the acoustics and rhythm flowing. >performer< switches the mood into a darker tone with rolling waves of industrial synths creating a contrasting groove between high speed lighter synths and heavier drum and bass rolls before the second part of the track reshapes the track into more minimalistic and aggressive dance floor weapon.

ron dj skull maney is a legend. nrg music dropped in 1991 on chicago s saber label and cemented his rep as one to watch over the coming years. one of chicago s new wave of producers with a fierce style and original sound. the original press of nrg music was super lo-fi and that suited maney s sound. his blend of jacking box jams, deep pads, porno samples and nasty ass acid lines all complement each other on what is one of the era s most unique ep s. those who know recognise that skull s music over the years has always been essential listening material and this, his first ep, is a heavyweight signifier of what was to come! across 6 tracks we get a surprising cache of styles, from the sleazed out redlight action of nasty girl to the driving, demented minimalism of the raft it s all here, plain as day, one for the heads, the connoisseurs and the freaks. the real deal! reissued and remastered with the full permission of trax/saber records we have another gem from the annals of chicago house history for 2017. do not sleep!
dys functional electronic music is a compilation release from repitch recordings, celebrating the label’s first five years. its ambivalent title aims to represent the sonic behaviour of its content, often deviating from norms or distancing itself from common club functionalism. for this release, the 3 repitch masterminds ascion, d. carbone and shapednoise are joined by a selection of the artists who contributed shaping the repitch sound throughout the years, along with guests that inspired them in this adventure. during the past 5 years the main focus of the label was to set up a platform for experimentations across the dancefloor canon, establishing a standout musical identity. a spirit that resonates within each artist’s personal approach: from ascion’s dark breakbeats to the exaltics and and’s acid frontalism, shapednoise’s brooding noise, sote’s fractured rave, d. carbone and gaja’s intrusions into melody, pinch and the zenker brothers’ dub-infused atmospherics, skudge’s love of gloom and nuel’s idm-ish minimalism
he followup to 2013’s “weird universe” (spectrum spools) and final unicorn hard-on record. it expands on the twisted, colorful world of previous releases from this long-running project with slowly unraveling acid tracks and psychedelic synth lines. ltd to 300 copies. artwork by cosmo knex.
steve murphy presents his new acid and industrial-tinged techno project, the night flyer, on lobster theremin’s cryptic black label imprint. a fear-addled chill seething down the spine and a machine-grinding, acid terror-bird emerging from the deep night, the night flyer is an expectedly dark take on the seedier end of technoid nightmares, while hanging a distinctly cold (wave?) atmosphere over cobbled, crushed analogue structures.
exciting 2nd release on the roze balletten label from belgium by a (new?) artist named walrus. a lovely 6track ep with a blend of house tracks ranging from melodic moody, jazzy acid injected to playful and even more stripped straight forward cuts. a new wave of bedroom producers is slowly penetrating the dance floors. excellent release that will go down well with fans of like minded releases mood hut records or going good for example.
the album astral traveling by innerspace halflife is among us with 9 tunes straight from the universal psyche, yet articulated with the tools of human perception through waveforms. deeper and deeper the tunes take a listener on a journey of spacey pads, longing melodies, electronic bass notes, and jacking drum programming. in terms of human understanding, the universe is infinite which makes any scenario one can think of possible. with this in mind, astral traveling was composed and explores the deepness of creativity as innerspace halflife reaches down to pull out sounds using various techniques. the story begins with teardrop from nebula 1122+22. straight from a far away point in space which can serve as the beginning or end of a journey.
scotland-born parisian paradise 100 (a.k.a. dj africa, a.k.a. graham peel) has been percolating stripped-back, bouncy-castle house constructs onto the web for a few years but never locked them in wax until now. high time. following his minimalist dictum *more than three tracks on a song is just indulgence*, his debut eps four cuts share a sleek, spare design, jigsawing slinky bass, classic keys, lean drum programming and flashes of synth mirage into fluid, aerodynamic patterns. touches of melodic acid and crossover new wave color the mood an exotic, hedonistic hue (further evinced by titles like the loin king and french kissing in the house of love). his own vision of the project is appropriately fantastical: *the image in my mind is of tropical forests at night, torchlight, distant sounds of tribal ritual dance and ghosts.* regal music for pleasure domes.
brooklyns boroughs are contaminated by creators, so the only surprise hearing alex burkats first 100% silk masters was how subtly exquisite he had nailed them down. patient, swelling loops of new age club mist give way to classic chicago figure-8 bass patterns, and dubby, sampled drum fills punctuate before billowing back out into breathy warehouse atmospherics.
his recent ep for mister saturday night explored more upbeat-oriented dynamics but tarot unwinds with a dreamier deja vu—waves of arpeggiated echoes, strobing stereo shimmer, and low acid warble arcing over a limitless subterranean dance floor. this is hypnotic humanist mantric mystery music for the 21st century, for those invested in what the deck has to hold.
sneakers first solo ep for uncanny valley is a record of high humidity. the java / sumatra ep evolved in large parts in indonesia when sneaker lived there for almost a year and it literally conveys the indonesian heat to dance floors in the rest of the world. compared to his acid house-inspired you think you think which was featured on the uncanny valley 004 compilation, this four new tracks show another, rather ark, pop and new wave side of sneaker
sonic underground compiles remixes by the ccc family of up-and-coming indie artists – four floor-ready, mutant hybrids of rock, pop, disco and deep house. belgian firebrand mugwumps rework of cccs own acid snow transforms the acid/no-wave original into a disco-house monster thats earned accolades from the likes of ewan pearson and magda. ivan smagghe calls the remix a no-nonsense record. while some look for experimental arty-ness, some for the big hit, all of this pretending to be underground, mugwump pull out of their sleeves what is properly hard to achieve, a cool big track.in a similar way, the rest of sonic underground explores new combinations of arty edginess and mass appeal. mack winston & the reflections see their swaggering glam-rock transformed by ccc into a deep back-room sex jam thats getting support from the wolf + lamb crew and is featured on soul claps compilation cd for mixmag in february. the flipside highlights remixes by cccs own night plane: with its atmospheric guitar and emo vocals, his take on presssures sounds like if the cure ever showed up on crosstown rebels, and his re-design of fellow new yorker baby alpaca is a dreamy k-hole lullaby, with blissed-out melodies that make it an after-hours snuggle classic.
the karnak saga continues with the innovative sound of rakim under making waves with four electric tracks. leek fel masry? is born, it is your time rakim
2lp including insert with liner notes. chapter 3 out of 3. including 14 unreleased tracks! with music from the hacker, boy harsher, nuovo testamento, buzz kull..
at the third new interplanetary melodies astral journey stopover, it was mandatory to catch an italian project deeply inspired by the sun ra visionary realm, expressing contemporary trials of hybridising jazz with artful electronica. so ra toth and the brigantes orchestra landed on vinyl grooves for the label, after having previously appeared on the likes of mathematics and berceuse heroique. behind the sound, we find the elusive and unpredictable genius of the well-respected producer marcello napoletano.
nim received the distorted sound signal from napoletano taken over by the egyptian deity born from the lips of ra. who knows if those noises were coming from a parallel dimension, outer space, or some otherworldly sphere...? submerged in dark bottom waters, the stormy waves of the acid sea are made of convulsive afro-flavoured percussion with sharp synths looming out like the ivories of some freakish abyssal creatures.
next up on the docket for acid camp records is a record created by duo john tejada and justin maxwell. the pair came together to make acr iii with two things in mind: creating sounds that put a smile on their face while possessing as much character as possible. the opening track, -i ve got acid (on my brain)- is a mind-bending wavetable freakout, the likes of which tejada and maxwell have been striving to do for years. using a vintage ems vocoder to create an original vocal sample, this track is bright, playful, & vivacious. -the name rolls in- is layered in an acid playground of sounds. a rhythmic track with a potent 303 bass line, prominent percussion, and that infamous vocoder back at it to create a distinctly groovy track. -field notes-, is a composition of celestial arrangements that is completely beatless. carried through by tiers of sounds, filters, and noisier elements, this track lulls the listener into an alluring sonic dreamscape.
alextrem acid fruit opens on a beautyfull 175 bpm banger, bringing a superb turning point after the break... twisting tune ! the second track gives 186 bpm acid progressive harfloor track. b-side opens on a 166 bpm old kickaz psychedelic and melodious, dark acid. ep finishes with a 167 bpm acid tune, carrying a long brealk intro turning 4/4... gambling acid waves.
smaul recordings should not be suggestive of being fed by productions of acid pauli, only. however, creative times need being used and martin gretschmann - aka console - member of the notwist - alias acid pauli has collected lots of material whilst the scarce time left last year. on smaul 07 he follows his self-weaved red thread of the year. acid pauli confides more & more in a certain house rhythm paired with these melancholic layered sound-synthesis, already well known by him. astonishing things emerge out of acid paulis musical waves, sometimes even scientially croon quite a bit. nymbiotic (a) comes relaxed but holds a great melody up in the sleeve - seasonly peppered. symbiotic (b) rests bit on minimal house, but acid pauli never relied on that genre. thus, this track does not remain as it seems after three minutes. glitches and sounds break it up to evolve a new symbiosis. symbiotic becomes more timeless in spite of siren-climax peaks and an obsessive string chorus fading in the end.
the vinyl express keeps rolling. after celebrating ten years jeahmon! we are back with label head marc depulse who presents his new series >fingerprint<. nasty beats. low drums. tireless drops. rolling basslines. tremendous subs. tape emulators. heavy guitars. acid pots. dark percussions. snare rolls. 4/4 time. headbangers. attack and release. fully charged energy. trippy breaks. weird breakbeats. crazy rhythms. mystic pads. heartbreaking leads. squeaky synths. vocal snippets. memorable phrases. powerful speeches. industrial charm. metal bangers. slowed down. speeded up. retro vibes. modern wave. disco elements. same same but different. peak time. no limits. out of the box. a box full of colours. painted arrangements. equalized. compressed. limited. signature sounds. electronic earworms. handscript. fingerprint. play. rave. repeat. hugs & kisses. spread the word. share the vibes. peace, love and freedom to everyone on the planet!

REDATE III & COMPILATION TRACKS (CASSETTE / TAPE + MP3)
Cassette / Tape 02.03.23
j. mono twists our sense of time again, coming up with the third installment of his redate series: an elegant selection of uncut tracks, roaming in the fields of electro, acid, idm and ebm. the tape release includes a download code.
eye is back. metamujer marks the third installment on the knekelhuis label and we’re extremely happy to release this document of another chapter in laurène exposito’s life. recorded on various locations ranging from the swiss mountains to the chalky coasts of brittany, metamujer is an 8-track ode to salty love and closeness to nature, a tribute to a modest lifestyle à la henry david thoreau. far from being praise for self-sufficiency, this new lp is deeply influenced by laurène’s environment. we can hear korg ms-10 created synthetic waves (sanatorium) and birds (luscinia), but one can also catch her singing in italian, one of 3 languages spoken in switzerland. still minimalist and yet more aesthetically diverse, her new sounds are on the edge of ebm and synth pop, between classic minimal wave tunes and rustic ballads on acid.
“hulled” is a 25 minute journey spread across 4 tracks of glacial abandon. all tracks were recorded directly to tape with no overdubs, made at converse’s home studio. bill says these tracks represent “ocean waves in stormy conditions, dark grey blue water, or more generally speaking something ominous and beautiful.” the songs on this album reveal a sublime influence from detroit techno, idm, and acid. built around vintage synthesizer lines and gritty drum machine percussion, the tracks ebb and flow like the effect of sun shimmering on water, woozy, gauzy and ephemeral. all songs were mastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. each ep is housed in a die-cute jacket designed by eloise leigh with peachy pink patterns landing on an alien water planet and seeing mysterious playing forms under the turquoise water. and the. each copy includes a postcard featuring photo of bill with notes.
