parallel berlin head daniela la luz returns to her home away from home, housewax with a few friends to rework her modern classic, -did you ever-. originally released in 2014 -did you ever- was an instant classic amongst decerning house heads, but it was when detroit legend, moodymann dropped it as closing track on his dj kicks compilation the year later. the light well and truly spun onto la luz and her sublime approach of house and techno. now to kick off 2018 housewax have invited virgo 4, dah ruh and cinthie to offer their spin on -did you ever-. together they each offer 3 unique takes from house to deep techno, yet managing to stay true to the soulful flavor of the original.

for record store day 2016, we thought of what to release to be special and decided a remix ep would be something good.

first release comes from daniela la luz itself, introducing her dancefloor diversity to their new bornlabel. after releasing two albums and a few ep s, remixes and winning a quartz 6 electronic music award, daniela demonstrates once more her genre breaking talent and approach, taking the understanding of house and techno music to new horizons. the combination of tracks is very well thought through. the aim is to fulfill the dj s needs of having one record representing all moods of a set. waveforms are not only a mathematical law, waveforms are everywhere, in all sections of everyday life, in light and in sound. parallel is one of the many parallel universes out there, living and believing in variety, whilst pointing onto respect for various life forms. we do what we love.

it’s been a while but hey-ho, coincidence is back on vinyl. the tracks we got from aussie based female dj trinity were simply too analog sounding, so slapping it on wax was the logical thing to do. the vinyl release adds remixes by two of our alltime heroes - steve stoll and daniela la luz. basically: the originals are deep and darkish, the steve stoll rework is a rework in one smooth jam so with plenty of energy while daniela’s version does it really smart and housey. so on with the friggin show!

kyodai have had a strong run of releases since their debut here on freerange last year. their mi rumba ep must have impressed a lot of people as they went on to release a follow up ep for mad mats blossoming local talk label and also have an ep due on pokerflat in the coming weeks. kerri chandler dug it enough to include on his ra podcast and it was also picked up for the cielo compilation on nervous. la luz kicks off this release with a brazilian rhythm known as candomblé laying the foundation of the groove.
