globetrotting dj and producer luca venezia, better known as curses, indulges in his nocturnal and romantic side, revealing a penchant for dark basslines. jetzt oder nie opens proceedings with a straightforward bass and infectious arpeggio line. sebastian voigt s reinterpretation keeps the focus in the deep techno territory, introducing a steady paced and anxious facet. stepping into an industrial influenced soundscape, power of darkness revolves around the hypnotic vocal hook, gradually transcending the listener into a late-night dancefloor trance. infinity maker plays on the mesmerising repetition of the initial coarse drum pads, resulting in a straight-up techno tool. the synth lead stays in the deep end, progressing to a beautifully dubby and atmospheric finale.

local talk release number 66 moves in deeper territories with a duo that needs no further introduction, greg dowling, shane johnson aka fish go deep. these two fine gents have been releasing music for more than two decades. both greg & shane played an integral part in the emergence of house music in cork city between the years of 1988 and 2001 as their well renowned sweat night at sir henrys helped to attract a host of talent, such as kerri chandler, laurent garnier, dj deep, glenn underground, derrick may just to name a few. it s a big, big honour to have them on aboard for this debut on local talk. first track, off script, takes us straight back to the days of prescription. the driving kick and bassline, warm pads and a hypnotic melody line that crescendos throughout the track keeping you hooked from start to finish. on the flip, northern reach, follows on the same theme. it hits deep, the strings adds that extra bit of drama and again showing the duo s skill in creating perfect atmospheric and timeless deep house. you wouldn t be surprised to hear dixon drop this in a dj set.

following a summer of fifth birthday celebrations, tom tragos voyage direct label returns to action with a brand new 12inch from amsterdam scene stalwart simon weiss. although a new member of the voyage direct family, weiss is no newcomer to the scene. hes previously delivered high grade eps for rush hour, deepermotions and home taping is killing music, and his contribution to first mission, voyage directs fifth anniversary compilation, was one of the undoubted highlights of that set.

andre crom returns to off with a deep and moody piece of house music. based on a layer of solid drums and a warm bassline, the track evolves with a gliding synth hook and bell theme, topped by a haunting vocal featuring bramwell. berlins rising star jonas saalbach delivers a spacy interpretation, altering the original theme and introducing new synth layers. finally, london-based ashwort adds a toolish deep techno remix, only using fragments of the vocal to give more focus to the groove.

earlier this year, an email dropped into the claremont 56 inbox. it was from a producer in the early stages of his musical career called simon peter, and contained a joyous slice of languid, organic balearica entitled ‘arc of lark’. suitably impressed, claremont 56 boss paul murphy had no hesitation in snapping up the track right away.

last spotted together on the cut some three years ago with their eponymous debut lp, the crew like kaidi tatham, akwasi mensah, matt lord, and dego ‘ranks’ mcfarlane reunite for this fresh 2000black 12&#8243,,,,,. off the christmas card list is apparently a precursor to a second album from the quartet and it’s the last 12&#8243,,,,, in a fine year for 2000black that saw the killer dego lp as the centrepiece. the a-side is dedicated to the title cut, an endlessly slinky boogie number that really showcases the collective musicality of this crew, whilst the b-side is split between “hurry whilst they are away” and “fila high”. the former is bugged out beat down west london-style, and the latter a killer latin-flecked cut.

kicking off with the first track -lose yourself-, vikan arman mixes different cultural influences to an exciting and mysterious intro of the 3 track ep. guitars rise into unknown spaces of deep bass and hidden complexity of beatstructures.

ataraxia: a state of serene calmness - and a highly appropriate title for two tracks that epitomise simon garcias singular vision of the hypnotic potentiality of house. on the back of his residency at madrids motel club, a busy international tour schedule, and high praise from an array of luminaries including laurent garnier, garcia touches down on poker flat for the second time very much on the crest of a wave.

title track universe is covered by warm & drive-bass, percussion synths and a wavy mainlead that hijacks the mind to deeper places. still waters run deep as explorazione starts with strict but area-wide beats and turns into an interaction of arpeggiated synths and powerful bass. followed by the last track passage feat. afterwards-, whose sweet reverb-heavy vocals glide through the bassment , the ep constantly keeps up the danceable tech- house elements.definitely a flowing continuity of quality sounds.

another day , first track of the ep, starts with some radical percussion based house that leads to a gliding deep base, underlined by vocals. in collaboration with gallya on she said , the duo takes it to the deeper level and combines spheric sounding percussion with gliding mallet notes which distinguish the track. afterhour straightness that involves all leftovers to move. last but not least, simone vitullo adds an arpeggiated techhouse-version of another day to the ep. a dark sub surrounded by minimalistic hats and strict but heavy beats bring down the sound of an great acidic house work. definitely an ep to play at dark and dusty hours.

me & her are back featuring billie fountains vocals with their new lost ep. the title track, highlighted by wavy sounds combined with shakers and rainy percussion, turns into a sphere of late-released bass and a melodic-melancholic vocal that takes the soul down to dusty places.

for the remix we had the pleasure of winning berlin s kiki, who kept the vibe intact adding melodic leads that take the scene complementing a bouncy bassline and using the vocal in a very minimal tasteful way. the package is completed with a dub version of the original, suited to the darker moments and sets.

modernista records reaches it’s fifth release and it’s over to paul bennett again with a pair of impressively varied productions. * on before off* is stripped to the bare bones techno with ever contorting razor-sharp arpeggios. as a counter balance, * although sometimes appear* is deep, emotive, melodic house with sound system-shaking bottom end.

after the huge success with their first release * makula* on la peña, which was heavily played by ricardo villalobos last year, the two boys are back with some more extraordinary material.

as the music is research, pisetzky loves to get deep into bass lines of different sound dimension. his style is always powerful and melancholic, moving hearts and minds into multi layered soundscapes. he started producing in 2010 with the name fabiano valli as sound designer for fashion brands. since late 2013 he turned his profile into pisetzky, inspired by a growing milans techno scene, he started to realise his attitude into being active part of the project just - this. he already proved his musical research for the biggest europe festivals stages ( off sonar week, ade, amore, barrakud ), as in the finest clubs and parties. in the darkness of his studio or even on the hottest dancefloors, pisetzky shakes deeply souls and bodies with his dogged rhythms.

this time, they have collaborated with british producer and songwriter brolin, who has written a heart melting vocal for this release. as the lyrics and melody swirl across an uplifting instrumental, it becomes obvious that lost n free is the soundtrack for those introspective, early morning moments. the b side, doin it takes the release underground with its pulsing synths and piano stabs that gradually build over contagious basslines and swung drum hits.
