smoke city music are quick to follow on from the success of the still buzzin’ smoke city allstars with this new set of mixes from cubase dan & the hoodfellas. an understated and restrained grower with the most potent tool, a salsoul influenced filtered groover tucked away on the b side, this sussed sister label to hudd traxx keep it flowing for those who like diggin that bit deeper
this time metamorphic recordings is in full on boundary pushing mode with a new sound from dan curtin. techno always has been and always will be about taking risks and going where no one has gone before and this ep, facts is right there. modern techno that will work for djs playing the gamut of techno, tech house, house, minimal and more. vocalist jason byers from cleveland based rock band disengage worked side by side with curtin to add a powerful vocal touch to the intense musical journey presented here. to all you djs working hard to keep it real, to move forward, to advance our scene, and to have a voice of your own, this one is made for you!
tweaked monosynth lines and rich polyphonic pads are featured on most tracks, and single note patterns of various timbre often reinforce the grooves. the title track on the a-side is as simple as effective and the name relates to some of the percussion parts which reminded them of a rodent digging a hole in the ground. first on the b-side is >if i was a man<, a slow-down groover with a dark and funky atmosphere, inspired by barbara alcindor s abstract spoken words, becomes more and more twisted towards the end of the track. last but not least, >zig zag<, which is named after the wobbly monosynth phrase which is being tweaked throughout the tune. all tracks speak of sweet, riding rhythms and nights full of action. pure quality
next brilliant techhouse shaker by berkson & what after the great >the dig< on pokerflat 70 !! supported by anja schneider, matthias tanzmann, dj t., james flavour and karotte
with their debut maxi for datapunk, both are once more impressively proving their good nose for powerful yet harmonic state-of-the-art techno music. plays by dave clarke, len faki, dj hell, miss kittin, pascal feos
autoreply music is a new london label. expect to find the scenes leaders showcasing their alpha productions alongside raw, well-sourced underground talent. we welcome dan curtin with this first huge release
dan is a german producer and dj with impeccable taste. previous output for highgrade has been superb and he has some amazing stuff due to drop on moon harbour (where he takes care of promotions in fine style) so hairy claw have handpicked him for the first release of 2008. deep, groovy and with just the right amount of drive, xibeca is a mordern house cut of the highest order. supernature and tsuba artists bearweasel take the techier elements of dans original and twist them into a flowing techhouse cut too - so theres something for the heavier crowds too. there are big things afoot with hairy claw, we ll keep you posted.
dan mela from italys disco inn records with his first release on compost black label. jazzy juice is a mixture of classic strings and dope electronic effects with a monster bassline and jazzy influences. on the flipside inndeep is a big deep house mover with a wonderful pianoroll
it only takes a mood from the past to make a today s dream come true: phil fuldner and daniel dinsing get back to the very beginning of their love for real house music from the 80 s and 90 s. they may have gone in different ways musically, but with this brilliant-modern backview they pay rescect to what they have shared for the last 25 years: fascination for the real rare groove, funk and house tracks. powerded by two stunning mixes by label owner ian pooley, this release will shurely make its way into people s hearts and record cases..
jericho records continues its return to the forefront with this amazing new release from the hottest producer in dance music right now - eric prydz. using his cirez d moniker here eric has created a sublime, deep yet pumping masterpiece with hints of planet e with its simple building groove and enormous pads yet still due to tjhe immense production managing to pack an huge wallop. as if they wasnt enough on the flip side pig and dan pick up the pace with an amazing pumping groove perfectly utilising parts of the original to superb effect. already mercilessly hammered by eric prydz and pig and dan themselves as well as jon digweed early on - many others are now picking up on this bomb and this will feature heavily on house and techno floors alike. devastating!!
big with: dubfire, martin landsky, jeremy p. caulfield, par grindvik, efdemin, federico molinari, shlomi aber, jimpster, jeff samuel, solomun, manuel tur, adultnapper, audiofly, dave ellesmere, mr g, layo & bushwacka, steve lawler , alex attias,...

2nd release on berlin based techno imprint modulat music after the first by mike wall. incl. remixes by andreas henneberg (piemont/voltage musique/ karatemusik), marcio katana (ostfunk) and steven beyer
phil kieran is back again with >missp< on cocoon recordings and continues consistently where he stopped with his contribution to the compilation g: groovy, dark, technoid – a sound that, from time to time, reminds of some fog & strobo parties in the mid-nineties. an electroid bass line and a fascinating drum roll go straight ahead and its still the fine sounds in between that make the music and the rhythm. a track which is perfect for the prime time
we are very pleased to bring you g-club records next release, >360 days<. 360 days is a sublime slice of house from leeds duo tom noise & dan tait. we have also commissioned a new remix from none other than justin drake, aka one half of house maestros peace division. justin strips the track back, taking it deep and into minimal jacking territory, coupled with his synonymous peace division beats- this is a sure fire dance floor winner
supported by 2000 and one, anja schneider, jesse rose, loco dice, shlomi aber, trickski, tobi neumann, to name a few.. once again theres a real nod to the old school here in a track inspired by arthur russell. rich, warm analogue pads and subtle fx flashes from the space echo build an enchanting groove. the intensity gradually develops with sounds slowly evolving, lending a deep hypnotic feeling to proceedings, until the chord progression opens out and you cant help but smile. a genuine end of night anthem and when dixon does his own edit you know your onto something special... version: double for your money, with an extra version of the original that doesnt open out into the full stabs and maintains a deeper groove. martin landsky remix: with a tight, tribal tom pattern and straight ahead groove martin landsky achieves a darker more spaced out feeling with his remix. he pushes the pads to a dubbed out climax without fully opening out the progression and this fully hits the spot. martin landsky has been making waves as a dj and producer since the mid-nineties and is one of the key producers at steve bugs excellent poker flat recordings and running his own intim records.. hes compiled many mix cds for labels such as poker flat, systematic and the partysan compilation series. his debut album was >in between< for pokerflat and since then hes remixed the great & good as well as producing several stunning releases and jetting about with his box of records
excellent deep grooving techhouse with a splash of acid, feat sexy robert owens vocals on top !! sexy !! flipside (onika) sounds more like the hyper modern remote area sound. tip-top
a massive electro house bomb with proper beats and a powerful bassline. driven by the voice of the chicago based blak beatnik. the original will be available as a instrumental version, too. the package incl. a huge selection of different styles from proggy electro to deep and minimal. a range of artists from peter haze (chicago), sokolovsky (ukraine), and sl curtiz mixed it up
igor tchkotoua and dan duncan are true workaholics. not only are the two mallorquinos forming one of the most exciting techno duos of our time and play in the most famous clubs worldwide, they always make it to pop up in the studio to work on their releases on sonic society, wig records or like in the case of >deliverance<, the new 12inch on cocoon. >deliverance< starts quite cautious but the track becomes more and more complex – pig & dan give the dj a tool that fits the minimal raver like a custom-made suit. the b side is again one of those tracks that put a smile on your face. in >sly detector<, atmospheric techno sound unites with energetic celebration pleasure, just as we know it from tracks like >after ibiza< or >on to the beat<. the rolling hookline which has the necessary splash of acid is, together with the floating trance layer, adrenalising to such extent that nothing else remains to be done but to raise your hands in the air. the track was already a hit with many djs in 2007, and will be one – chosen in the right moment – on many dancefloors in 2008, too
adult only celebrates on the 30 mark with dan ghenacia & chris carrier delivering an ep with finest deep groovin tech trax. great feedback by anthony collins, butane, chloe, djulz, james flavour, sebo k, toni rios, tommy four seven and xpansul
great release on shelvin by itamar sagi, known for his track on toolroom with shlomi aber and has also released on the be as one label) the release comes with a remix from pig & dan and john shelvin stephan bodzin : great release. full support!!!! original and pig & dan.!.
>chariots<, the simple debut of james priestley and dan berkson, is a luscious house treat. driving percussion and throbbing keys move towards a crescendo through airy synths while the classic piano melody comes in to send the dancefloor to a blissful climax. soul and melody with a tight little groove, everything we at simple love! acclaimed frankfurt duo motorcitysoul, who made their aus debut earlier this summer, turn their hand to the remix. rotating clicks and punches move towards an ever intensifying push, while melodic whispers gather around the central chord progression, combining to create a deep and dreamy finale.
its now pig&dans turn to release the next big thing in the cocoon recordings universe. their electronic house sound – closer to techno than to guy gerbers deep house as regards content – is a perfect image of what is happening on the planet s dancefloors. trippy and driving electronic beats which are never flamboyant are combined with filigree basslines, giant spherical spaces and weird sounds in long sophisticated arrangements: modern minimal house with a good share of techno.
