with his >control ep< shifteds newest production brings no further clues as to the identity of this highly-regarded yet anonymous producer. having established an relationship with luke slater s mote-evolver imprint, shifted has been releasing some of the freshest and highly acclaimed techno tracks at the moment. what >control< does bring, however, is an impressive follow-up release to the >drained ep< released on mote-evolver earlier this year.

before the renaissance of vocals in club music starts to get out of hand, a few blueprints are being drawn up: standards that the brilliance of future vocal track producers can be measured against. the greek producer mr. statik, has put together three such tracks for his first bpitch control release. three emotional tracks which really make you want to get dressed up each time you listen in order to properly revel in their sophistication.

skinnerboxes first bpitch 12 inch >anapol< is the culmination of about seven years of performing experience. iftah gabbai and olaf hilgenfeld casually juggle colourful house, jazz and funk elements like its their second nature. and the metamorphosis from anarchistic improv chaos to form and structure in no way impinges on the level of energy in their music - in fact, just the opposite is the case, as the newly discovered sense of auditory space in the tracks allows them to significantly concentrate each tracks power.

initially, it seems like the original track by chaim is impeccable. and yet kiki, arto mwambe and deniz kurtel each succeed in showing us a very special shade of the life-affirming track, adding to it and sending it out into the world bursting with power.
