Before the renaissance of vocals in club music starts to get out of hand, a few blueprints are being drawn up: standards that the brilliance of future vocal track producers can be measured against. The Greek producer Mr. Statik, has put together three such tracks for his first BPitch Control release. Three emotional tracks which really make you want to get dressed up each time you listen in order to properly revel in their sophistication.

Last year he released the EP "Lust But Not Leashed" on Mo's Ferry Productions, contributed a fervent vocal house track to BPitch's "Werkschau" compilation and still found some time to get deep in DJ sets at clubs around the world. But all in all the man from Athens took things a little easier than in previous years, when he travelled to South Africa with the Red Bull Music Academy, reaped international acclaim for releases on labels such as Memo and Karloff, and established himself on the global DJ circuit. So Mr. Statik has swapped his plane seat for the comfort of his studio and produced new house and techno tracks that feature a large measure of sex appeal. The release is comprised of three steamy works under the title "Even Giants Have A Soft Spot". With the opener "Ganymedes" Mr. Statik adds an elegant footnote to techno history by releasing the first dance music track which pays direct homage to a figure from Greek mythology. Ganymede, son of the King of Troy, was considered the most beautiful of mortals and was loved by Zeus. Mr. Statik gives him a warm serenade with a subtle spring in the bassline, jubilant hand claps, an uplifting melody line and a misty-eyed vocal from the Telefon Tel Aviv singer Joshua Eustis. This hypnotic torch song strikes a charming balance between techno and house and seems to be made especially for all the seductive bodies of the night. With his second track, "Be Free", Mr. Statik goes for house music outside of the cliché mould, once again with irresistible vocals. These come from the singer K.atou, originally from Corfu and now living in Athens. Her voice hovers gracefully over a warm bass whilst a varied firework display of hi-hats, percussion and hand claps goes off in the background. With the third track "Imagine" he once again dives deep into the intricate peak time arts and gives us a dose of cool vocal tech-house. The track's dynamic bassline combined with a hi-hat loop produces the track's direct force, whilst in the background the voice of Amsterdam DJ, label boss, party organiser and producer Carlos Valdes croons with an air of lazy romance. Another dose of techno hypnosis that renders drugs unnecessary and spreads its enchantingly bleak neon soul with cool vocal passages.
