brut! records baby sister label, pop!, sees its second release with popnonames spaces. an eclectic line-up, including joerg burger, freund der familie and paid for fame, remix the original three times over to offer a varied perspective of the same brave track. revving its engine, spaces drives you to experience things. it invites you to crack yourself open so that through that voluntary rift some new future might pour. bold, beautiful and formless it emerges, washed in a golden light. a baby nebula, perhaps if you are lucky, cradled in the spiral arms of a distant galaxy patiently building mass as it clumps gas and dust together. the important things often creep up silently…recognized only once they are there, even though you had given them no shape in your mind prior to their arrival. space gives possibility to what these forms might be, boundless in four-dimensions. its that expanding medium that allows imagination to roam without end…where the need to distinguish between what you know and invented evaporates and flows pure and clear as an ice cold stream.

hive audio is here – a brand new label, run by the makers of the infamous hive club, located in the the industrial quarter of zurich. the imprint was founded by samuel gmur and adrian wöllhaf, better known as animal trainer with some great releasing on oliver koletzkis stil vor talent, amongst others. zurich is not only party capital of beautiful switzerland, it is more and more becoming a habitat for talented and creative music producers and djs, who will now get a new international platform. releases will be held mainly by residents of the hive club itself – benja will be given the honour to start off with his track paradose. >paradose< impresses with a funky percussion loop, ultra-brief chords and scantily applied vocal snippets. benja keeps it dust-dry, leaving out every kind of frippery and lifting the track to a real &#64258,,oor-&#64257,,ller without any razzmatazz needed. on the &#64258,,ip we have a remix by christian burkhardt, who needs no further introduction. he turns the number into a real techno loop monster, which will catch you within a few beats, and then wont let loose again. hypnotic and twinkle-toed at the same time, his remix easily will suit any after hour or peaktime set to the same degree. christian burkhardt himself is also one of our favourite guests in the club. this is why, of course, we are double happy to welcome a hive club resident on our hive audio 001.

this new outstanding enliven music release, called „the dust“, is a cooperation of the three french whizz kidsdop andenliven deep acoustics. they were throwing the old method of original+remix overboard and were developing two completly independent tracks which share the same underlying theme. the dop interpretation comes with a chorus which spins a web of harmony around the listener, the rest of the track is pure groove which leaves no quiet legs, the cherry on the cake is the charming and very sexy vocal by jonathan. the enliven deep acoustics version transports a unique atmosphere by a proper portion of funk. like a diamond on the ring

the chaps at off-key hq have been busy digging out the old dat tapes from their attic and sorting out the wheat from the chaff. for this release they go way back to bring you four more tracks courtesy of kimble, a collaboration between matt o brien and matt gates (aka minor planets). kicking things off is the beatless sketch of >lycius<, spiky alien synths flicker and pierce through detached ethereal pads moving in the surrounding weightless space. next up is the ep s lynchpin track, >state of shock<. proper techno is the order of the day here, this is an authentic old school minimal track first recorded in 1996 but left gathering dust ever since. immerse yourself in the subtle dub inflected melodies swirling in your womb bubble while the slamming rhythm track provides the heartbeat. over on the flip we chill things out with the haunting strings and aquatic bassline of >amb<, providing a delicate counterpoint to the upfront style of the a side. the ep is completed with a stunning remix of >state of shock< by minor planets, who layer on a towering bassline and transform the original into a laid back dub workout.

off-key limited is a new subsidiary label of off-key industries whose aim is to give exposure to new artists alongside established producers and to bring a wider range of genres with less of a focus on the dancefloor. each release will be strictly limited and will not be repressed. we start by raiding the off-key vaults to unleash a series of releases entitled >the dust off<, featuring material written in the off-key studio over the years by matt o brien and various collaborators and associates. matt kicks off the ep with >a new page turns<, a bangin dubby detroit techhouse cut driven by a low slung rhythm and analog stabs dripping in reverb, overlayed with a melodica riff which calls to mind the smokey refrains of augustus pablo. next up is >untitled< by newcomer mat gates, a beatless slice of electronica whose understated melodies conjure up thoughts of late summer evenings of times gone by. on the flip, o brien and gates combine under the artist name kimble to bring you >epiphany<, led by a shimmering melody underpinned with haunting strings which combine to form an electro track of rare beauty. this diverse ep is completed with mat gates second contribution, >in a hole<, a drum n bass track with a disjointed, skeletal rhythm, sub bass drops and fragile, melancholy melody.

big with: the black dog, rob da bank, keith downey, tomaz, mary anne hobbs, shelley parke and mark eg!! dncns debut ep for dust science shows just how far hes come in the last five years. its a resoundingly strong package with every track a potential a-side. main cut >dust to dust< is a throbbing dubby techno stomper, opening with sulphuric bong noises that give way to oodles of fat wobble. the track is slowly subsumed in layers of fizzing shards of echo. anyone taken with villalobos recent experiments really must check this out

new signing on players paradise from hamburg city, two producers who are up and coming in the scene and ready to take over with this mental banger. first one is tensnake who runs his own label mirau musik out of his hometown and got a lot of attention recently by remixing >junior boys<. his partner is suite 9 aka d.i.m. who made some great records on tigas turbo label and had a big hit with >airbus baby< and his cool remix for chromeos last single >fancy footwork<. on the remix job this time our favourite man out of cologne, steve barnes aka cosmic sandwich. he transforms the original into a spaced out 90s house track with his typical driving groove that he developed over the last years in his great releases on traum and my best friend.

"dust science returns with fresh blood for 2007 on the faith is fear ep. weve been fans of fabrice lig for years her at dust. hes released an avalanche of great techno on classic labels such as kms, 7th city, fcomm and playhouse and hes done us produ with his first release for us. "access denied" is a surging, swinging, darkside monster thats relentlessly tricky and funky. the detroit pads are seriously tripped out and swamped in glitchy beats and stepping hi-hats, and theres some serious low end; its a hell of a track. regis and female are responsible for some of the best uk techno ever made. here they contribute c/chaos; performed live at the orbit in leeds, its simply massive, propelled by downward twisting strings and utterly slamming, intoxicating electronic rhythms. techno luminaries the 65d mavericks are renowned for their driving but innovative techno. "wiretap" is well up to their high standards."
