after almost 2 years without publishing new material. the label properproud reappears with this ep limited to 250 copies. the owners of the label santi and roger (strange connection) have worked very hard to remind everyone with this record that the electro-techno and ebm will not die ever! this time, properproud back with more force and with the intention of staying forever. closing mouths includes 4 tracks of 4 major artists and the name isn t coincidental. it s time to shut many mouths that don t rely on this kind of music the first one closing mouths (a1) has been signed by the owners of the label (strange connection) is the first time published in properproud. a track of pure ebm, dark and evil but with great force and which has received great support from artists like angel molina and dave clarke who has played several times in his white noise radio show. the second one hurt me (a2) has been signed by jonathann cast in collaboration with the voices of drey. after publishing in dancefloor killers come to properproud and do it in a forceful and dark track that can move any dance floor. bluntly electro-techno and without mercy! on b side, we find 2 of the best signings he has made during that properproud parentheses. in the first cut (b1) adriano canzian, currently one of the most bizarre techno artists, with halim the dream shows because david carretta and dj hell is set in it. a brutal track, direct and intended to enjoy it in a club. dave clarke has supported it without hesitation. and to finish off the ep, ruben montesco (b2), after his passage through lasergun and other labels turn to properproud to demonstrate in madrid that also makes good techno and ebm. insomniac s red room is a dark track, evil but with a lot of energy and a perfect voice. rubÚn besides being a great friend and supporter of properproud is undoubtedly one of the best producers of this style at national level. 4 tracks that shape a piece of craft for lovers of brazen sounds and is the first of a series of 12 inch that will see the light soon and will be limited to 250 copies. properproud is back .... stop the minimal. use your brain!

this is the one you ve all been waiting for, the bad science ep from the mighty rustie. amazingly enough for an artist who has such an huge impact over the last year this is only his second full ep. i could go for on days about how good it is but best not eh. it all kicks off with the fractured hip-hop weirdness of tar and then swiftly moves into the massive bad science. we ve been seeing folk go crazy to bad science and rightly so, its an anthem and has getting properly hammered by kode9 and mark pritchard to name a few. its then on to the out there 8 bit bleepage of shadow enter. the b-side is now dedicated to the now legendary zig-zag and wireblock have really done themselves pround with this one by going straight to one of rustie s hero s the legendary henrich mueller (dopperleffekt, drexciya, arpanet etc) to add his own electro-physics sound to the aquatic mentalness of the original track. it comes to an end with zig zag (reprise), now the original was daft enough but this just to pushes it even further into new realms of madness. buy, buy, buy!

downwards sidestep expectations again with this glorious limited 10inch vinyl release from tropic of cancer. two beautifully dark compositions that remind slightly of angelo badalamenti in >twin peaks< mode, or maybe reservoir dogs, if it had been filmed with a huge cavern as the soundstage. processed guitar and drones wash swampily over a simple drumbox beat, as eerie snatches of melody float in and out. as badalamenti himself said of his own work, >my (musical) world is a little bit dark... a little bit off-center. i think of it as tragically beautiful. that is how i would describe what i love best: tragically beautiful.< seems to sum this release up quite nicely too...

alex metric has offered up the catchiest taster from his forthcoming lp to date. head straight is as bombastic a slice of electronic pop as you re likely to hear all year. big, brash synths kick off proceedings before the boy wonder steps up to deliver one of his best vocals to date

he s the man of the moment. james nidecker, rising star of the dutch technoscene, is always sure to raise an eyebrow or two. not only his djsets, where the amsterdam based artist is often getting the crowds wild with his dark gothpunklike outfits, but also his recent productions can be called mindblowing. nidecker perfectly knows how to combine his dark vocals with uplifting beats, combining influences from electro and minimal techno. s.t.a.l.k.e.r is the culmination of his talents, a hit record already wandering around the dutch clubscene for a while, now finally released on alexander koning s upstruct imprint.
the aside of this release provides a more than outstanding remix from dave ellesmere. renowned for his collaboration with producer 2000 and one under their name microfunk, but nowadays also reaching international fame under his own guise, ellesmere turns s.t.a.l.k.e.r into an ideal dj tool. with a length close to nine minutes, his mix slowly takes the funk of nidecker s rhythms to an upwinding, more techhouse based floorburner.
the other side of this ep is more about the clubs, with dutch dj producer georgio schultz and alexander koning together transforming s.t.a.l.k.e.r into a housetrack like there s no other. here, the unique vocals of nidecker are combined with more melodic, sometimes crazy sounds, always keeping the original flow of the track alive, but taking the best parts of this clubhit to a next level.

after a recent guest performance on seuil’s eklo label, michael melchner - the young producer and dj from nuremberg - is back with another stunning ep for cargo edition. melchner is the resident-dj of the ‘kiss klub“ party series at nuremberg’s famous club ‘die rakete’, and music aficionados will have had their eye on this up-and-coming artist for a while now. this time around michael melchner dishes up three top-notch house tracks for us. “you understand“ is techhouse at its best, where he deftly holds and rides that balance between deepness and the dancefloor. a continously forward-pushing bassline is combined with a mysterious vocal sample and restrained breaks. „wooob“ grabs you with its devastatingly simple rhythm, while the bassline cuts through with a high dose of funk. topping the track off we have a vocal loop that shows off michael’s affection to the musical beginnings of house. this ties in nicely with the ep closer »just a skip« which reminisces over the sound of chicago. profound melodies, skillfully arranged vocal samples and a whole heap of soul suggest that michael melchner may just have produced a modern house classic. so again, just like on his first ep for cargo edition in may last year, michael melchner has managed to paint a musical portrait combining the present and the past into one classic moment.

hot natured represents a sunny and modern take on classic and future classic music. subtly changing, and adding a new edge to some of the many different genres that have influenced the east london wideboy and los angeles newcomer who are behind the label. along the way hot natured will serve up disco through techno re-edits, pop remixes even slices of hip hop injected with the kind of dancefloor knowledge only a seasoned dj can tap into. whether its the reimagining of seminal artists like radiohead to kanye west, or chic to notorious b.i.g, the main goal is to do this with a certain level of sophistication and class, that is often lacking in the >unofficial remix< world.these artists and their work have represented unique points of inspiration for hot natured and its aesthetic. some might argue, >why mess with perfection?< well that attitude isnt much fun, is it? so please sit back, or rather get up and enjoy the first serving of hot natured, two naughty groove riddled versions of possibly two of the best pop records of 2008, chopped spliced and funked up by a well known london techno youngster.

fine arranged melodies from multiple sound sources, as stated in his biography, are the building blocks of which daniel mehlhart considers to be the essence of good music. putting what he preaches into practice has affirmed the 22-year-old swiss born, frankfurt am main resident, as one of the most exciting new talents in the underground tech-house movement. his most acclaimed release was the harp-tinged origami, released last summer on kindisch, which catapulted him into the record bags and charts of a slew of seasoned djs during the end of last summer. >scharade< is an example of young daniel sticking to what he does best, mixing and blending techno. atmospheres and sonic images while still animating an organic and natural vibe over the tracks. liberal amounts of percussion and a middle eastern or asian vocal dramatically pitched this tune beyond recognition watermark with a style and a vibe that he has helped to advance. the house roots of >distracted conscience< are present right from the onset. using a double pump kick to inject a pinch more of energy into the already flourishing habitat of off-kilter and spooky sound effects. so many in fact it is easy to see how he came up with the name, >distracted conscience<, as there are more effects floating around in this track than thoughts in the head of an 8-year-old who forgot his daily dose of ritalin. he turns to an ethnic vocal on >alura< again, but keeping the overall mood of this outing a bit deeper. he pulls out even more percussion instruments including extra shakers, toms and bongos all marching along harmoniously. this is a head down, hands-up, side-to-side bopper that just keeps quietly elevating as subtle elements are added and subtracted throughout the duration of the tune. a coherent composition and dj tool all in one. although this is his second release there are no signs of a sophomore slump anywhere in site, as daniel mehlharts talent lies in his unique, but subtle ability to gel different eleme

already supported by johnny d., someone else, laurent garnier, jennifer cardini, florian meindl, david keno.. erich lesovsky is the newest addition to stil vor talents exciting artist roster. here comes someone who is totally fascinated and absorbed by technology, someone who only performs as a live act in the clubs and - in the time of digital machinery - still works on constructing his own devices to make music with. after singles for wba and keno records, it is now the time for his first release on oliver koletzkis stil vor talent imprint and mr. lesovsky is very happy to be part of the family. so are we, of course! not only, but also because his first ep is a killer display of musical wizardry. it stars off with >bell a donna<, a minimal funk-laden piece of music that is mainly based on some crisp beats, many warm effects and sounds and a melody so simple, yet so encapsulating to capture the heart of every dancer in the club. this is oldskool minimal funk at its best! next up is >93 percent<, a title that might be misleading at first, because this track sounds more like 150 percent really. a great loop made of fidgety techno hi-hats and some wonderful warm analogue sounds - this could well be termed a new form of fidget techno. last up is >riot beatz<, an experimental display of minimal sound design, yet still very danceable. lots of crystal bashing beats, a pumping bass and many little effects - this will definitely be one for the dancefloor in the morning hours. not only does e. lesovsky seem a master of sound, his expertise seems to cover the perfect creation of warm, yet basic tech anthems and his influences seem to come from all sorts of musical directions, from hip-hop to funk to house back to techno. it is the easiness with which he delivers his music that makes his sound designs so special!

part 1 of the new double-release from tiefschwarz aims at the heart of house music: soul. “on&on” is a first-class arranged club track. starting off with a wonderful mellow theme, that is adumbrated by the bass line in an one-and-a-half minute long exposition. the track ups the tempo with an additional hi-hat resolving into a shuffle beat. in double time, we move on towards the first break. here an edgy, minor key-chord sequence is introduced, making it obvious for everyone, that this track is gonna take off. eventually the keys function as a counterpoint to the classic bass line. a four-to-the-floor “on&on” vocal sample takes over after the break, adding another percussive aspect. as the track goes on a mulitiplicity of side elements sets in - no room for tediousness! in the end the “on&on” vocals resolve into “it’s so simple… . who knows, but this could be a broad hint to all the tech-house academics out there. no matter what, this grande finale raises a smile from every last sweaty soul on the dancefloor. with “best inn” on the b-side tiefschwarz create a dance classic, dressed in 2009 fashion. reminiscent of long gone nu-groove times, a traditional house beat - including a tiny off-beat tinker bell - blasts out of the speakers. a slured synth-organ provides the track with that certain edgyness. here, the brothers keep it laid-back yet exciting at the same time. this piece goes on and on and on - and you yourself run alongside, not wanting to pause. but watch out! at the latest in the second break, tiefschwarz put nostalgia to the test via some shockingly muffled metal drums. one of these moments, where you wish yourself back into the middle of an eight-hour deep-house set in 1992. the train departs. one thrillingly beautiful landscape after another runs by, until the warm sun strokes of the south suddenly rouse you out of slumber. arrived

groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before

this is a couple of nice remixes of the cool smoke & mirrors track of marc almond and starcluster (taken from the aube 03). marc almond needs no introduction... after working with many great producers he teamed up with roland faber (s express and many other projects) and kai ludeling (divider) for some nu school high energy disco. this is a track that brings up the best memories of the pet shop boys, new order and ofcourse soft cell. this is one big anthem for the gay clubs, nu disco aficionados and brittish soccer hooligans who want to rave on some extremely well produced big sounding dance music! highly limited vinyl edition!!

a classic bit of space disco from the french scene of the 70s. four long tracks that are all pretty darn moogy, and pretty darn great! the work here would fit nicely with some of the best keyboard heavy club of the us scene at the time! not exactly like some of the work on p&p, or the grooves of el coco over at avi - but not that dissimilar either, and often put together with a spare, simple approach thats a welcome contrast from overblown disco of the time! most numbers build up from a funky bassline and beats - adding in the keyboards with great relish, and really letting them jam and get crazy over the top. theres certainly a bit of cosmic fusion going on here too
