ostgut ton reissues the final zehn of zehn with original tracks by etapp kyle, marcel fengler with elif biçer, and steffi. 2015 marked ostgut tons ten-year anniversary, celebrated with an extensive 30 track compilation release, titled ostgut ton | zehn, spread out over ten 12inch vinyl records housed inside a limited box set. this sampler sold out in no time, which is why ostgut ton is re-issuing these ten 12-es individually in 2016. all good things must come to an end, and so does this label compilation with its final re-release. long-time ostgut ton collaborator elif biçer lends her tantalising vocals to marcel fenglers uk-spirited, breaky and dark beats, with, vocals and lyrics aside – its open snare drum roll, the brazen sounds and seething bassline being the most distinctive elements of fallin on a. on the flipside up-and-coming etapp kyle opens b1 with blistering bleeps atop a solid kick, brushed percussion and surging, subtly atmospheric synth pads. there arent many producers as productive as steffi is: löweborschtel continues her past electro-influenced releases on b2: bouncy and rhythmic, moody yet spot-on, dreamy while fierce. to the next zehn years!

one of the early big records in the uk that preceded the acid house mania that followed in 1988 and mr. lee s first in a string of releases on trax. adonis recalls bumping into mr. lee in the street: what s up with you, adonis? and i said, oh man, i got a record out. i m doin house music and makin money at it. the next time i saw him, he was sayin , hey man, i got a record out too! i can t forget features a more spoken word delivery in comparison to his later productions where he d retooled and become a rapper (of sorts).

let’s continue the edit series with a first ep of sacha mambo by is own. sacha is the boss of macadam mambo, that he runs alongside guillaume des bois, they’ve released together a 2xlp last year as macadam mambo dj’s. here sacha has digged into his collection to put out 4 edits in the “devil” vibe he loves: 2 floor burners, one german euro-disco, one scandic new wave style, and 2 dark weirdo killers with crazy vocals in a more italo way. guillaume will be on the next ep with 4 completely different cuts, surprise! but for the moment let the devil comes into your house!

stamp records delve into the past for their next release, giving a new lease of life to one of swayzak s least characteristic and most sought-after tracks. swayzak are true heroes of the uk underground, having clocked numerous seminal releases in the late 90 s and early 00 s straddling the grey area between house and techno. disco dub plate volume 2 - originally out in 2000 - was an obvious anomaly in the duo s discography, that has managed to forge a path of its own amongst a completely different crowd to swayzak s usual disciples. one cut from that ep, stronger love , is a carefully arranged marriage between a certain pair of quintessential aor darlings and the soul voice of the 80 s. can we be more specific? no can do...it shouldn t really work, but somehow it does! it s been caned by many a balearic dj over the years, including mark seven who included it in his mythical originals compilation, where it holds its ground amongst other balearic heavyweights. as an added bonus for this 2016 edition we re treated to two brand new mixes ! frank agrario teases in bits of the original making for his chunkier version that is aimed squarely at the dancefloor, while brun (1/2 of swayzak) delivers a bang up-to-date dub that keeps its elements to the bare minimum, building into a deep hypnotic house chugger.

seth troxler lines up the next 12- on his label of cultural heritage tuskegee music. in the follow up to stellar output from butch and bas ibelleni as well as phil moffa, the martinez brothers & jesse calosso collaborating under soundview - the next in the series comes courtesy of the mighty d-knox.

burly, uk-styled rave tackle from berlin’s phon.o for tectonic after spending the last few years exploring subsets of garage-techno on 50 weapons. clearly carving towards tectonic’s ruder ‘floor criteria, he plays out the dank, shadow-boxing 2-step drums and swooping subs of mercurial next to the aggier grime slap of u8 phunk for the berlin scallies, and yokes some splintered breaks into a submerged jungle-techno chassis with bell blender.

next up on moss co. is a 3 tracker from long-time moscow records artists dan farserelli, remixed by the supremely talented tom ellis. the record opens with lemons and limes, a catchy roller that bumps and grinds its way into the soul, each revolution of the bassline giving the body a sense of fulfilment, while jazzy musical elements entertain the mind. on the flip that time is a classic piece of micro house perfect for the early hours. a sparse, but groovy bassline is complemented by catchy hooks, percussion and a creative arrangement. the tom ellis remix on the b2 completes the record with a particularly trippy, but incredibly catchy, afterhours interpretation.

next in line to work with underground imprint getme! is uk artist nicky otter, with gme012: i can t really explain (it), a two track release out on 14th march across vinyl and digital platforms. across the ep, nicky ventures between parameters of ambient electronica and big, bad club tracks. nickys outsider sound find its perfect home on london s getme! label, both artist and label undefinable by genre, shape or sound. a-side i can t really explain (it) is a straight call for the dance floor for those after sounds on a more house and garage tip. originally trained as a drummer, nickys percussive talent shines across this bassy number, complete with creeping melody and layered vocal samples for a track nodding to club edits from a nostalgic time gone by. moving into murkier territories, b-side sketch original slow is journey through the darker strains of electronica, hazy techno feels and euphoric ambient vibes. dreamy melodies and carefully mapped out drum patterns meet here, giving sketch original slow an other-worldly feel.

next release on swoon. the label continues with hypnotic minimalism on a huge various artist release. dj friendly 140g vinyl.

here comes another release by echologist aka brendon moeller. brendon did several releases over the year and here comes the next bomb!! these tracks were recorded in autumn of 2016 in brendon’s home studio that is conveniently located in the basement of his home in upstate new york. the tracks were made using a combination of hardware and software. the protocol, well, sync all machines via midi and cv and then jam. once a jam seems to take on a form he multitrack record all elements in ableton and then create a final arrangement and mix down.

the boys are gliding back onto the scene with scissor and threads first release of 2016, waiting ground. the handsome twosome of frankie skates and tony b. real deliver us four prime cuts aimed squarely at the dance floor. the vinyl-exclusive, ebreo, sees the duo flex their afro-rhythmic muscle, placing silky smooth bass over a bed of soft swirling percussion highlighted by a pitched down steel drum. next, an edit first heard on frank & tonys acclaimed resident advisor podcast comes to light. deftly cutting the hushed ambient tones of donato whartons absentia into perfect portions, frank & tony loop brittle bits over a chunky kick and shuffling hi-hat to hypnotic effect. the ep’s title track evokes the sun-kissed euphoria of early hour raves with its lush atmospherics and playfully subdued piano line buoyed by a thick kick and airy pads. finally pavane takes the previous tracks laid back attitude and flips it, adding a thick in-your-face kick and propulsive pads for a foot-stomping, hands in the affair dj weapon.

after releasing brand new material on dum034, dum records are dipping into the label boss’s production archives for the next one: it is a reissue that features tracks from a number of classic mono junk releases. two came on trope records, one in 1995 and one in 1993, and the last pair of cuts come from 1996 when they were released on plug research. arguably some of the influential finnish producer’s finest work, all of the tracks here emphasize how long he is operating on the top of his game already.

chicago based chris gray has appeared on multiple releases throughout the 90s and the new millennium. while some of his most appreciated works have been published through his own imprint deep4life, for the next pulp release, chris gets deep and melodious with some funked out synths whilst maintaining that lush deep atmosphere that has proven to be his signature mode.

dany rodriguez is on fire lately and keeps rolling as an unstoppable train. his next station is the *safari moon* with the signature of his home label rmr. dany offers a remarkable original coming up with 3 remixes by the ultimate techno legend the advent and a monumental collaboration remix by the techno heavyweights ben long & oliver way. a package that will drive the clubbers to the safari moon and back!

for its premier release, division point industries is proud to announce a 4-track ep by rolling ones, a collaborative project featuring johannes auvinen (tin man) and jordan poling (jordan). rolling ones finds its voice in the synthesis of each artist s sound, combining tin man s acidic melodies with jordan s deep, textural pads. debuting at the division point industries residency at bushwick s notorious bossa nova civic club, rolling ones marked their arrival by playing a dj back-to-back set. opening the record is 93 mustang , a muscular, no-nonsense roller built around deep wells of warm bass and slick-piston percussion. as it builds, tin man s signature acidic squelch dances in the remaining space, giving the track a sense of both life and depth. next is faded delorian , an abyssal burner that refracts its ghostly tones around a panning labyrinth of crystalline synths. on the flip is slammed cadillac , a sinewy, stripped down stomper of clattering percussion and caustic 303s. jacked up impala finishes the record as a jacking acid tool. founded by jordan poling, division point industries is a new label built on the success of a collaborative residency with cory james at brooklyn s bossa nova civic club. having hosted artists ranging from the established to the underground, division point industries has crafted a no-nonsense take on deep house and techno that is rich in history while remaining focused on the future.

as 2016 rolls through, so does fossil archive with its 4th release since its highly acclaimed beginnings in february 2015. with fossil archive’s previous release featuring as “tune of the month” on mixmag’s november 2015 techno page, this next two-part ensemble sees two very different tracks leave you with little doubt that fossil archive remains inspired to be at the forefront of all things techno.

next up on hungarian hot wax we have jakobin & peletronic bringing the austrian heat! 3 tracks of sublime quality featuring 909 driven beats merged with acidic bass lines, deep warm pads & stabs topped with soulful vocal licks. brining extra fire is oli furness with his natty weave remix of ‘don’t stop’. super spicy ep!

early support from raresh, akufen, and jan krueger, next up on sol asylum is non other than julie marghilano with her innerspace ep. taking the listener to another dimension of sound, she brings her range of musical knowledge to create a solid package with a stunning remix from fred p. starting things off on a analog journey with “innerspace” we move through an interstellar universe with detailed grooves full of percussive splatters and echoing synths that moves us into a dream like state of mind. conjuring the jazz planet in berlin with“katzbachjazz”you are immediately transported to a galaxy of sound with galloping percussion and a classic techno layout. using more 909 techno drum elements she creates a whirlwind of sound with a delicate touch. taking things a little bit deeper with “cosmic karma” she presents a heavily detailed drum structure full of violin experimentation that creates a dark atmosphere but still bringing an uplifting and joyous vibe. finishing off the package is something unique from fred p who julie asked to remix for her due to her enormous respect for him. the emotionally charged remix of“cosmic karma” shows a different side of fred p while still keeping his signature sound in tact. the remix takes us through an ever-evolving voyage through time and space.

splendor & squalour number 3 sees brame & hamo return to their rising imprint. since the boys ep lamajs secrets on dirt crew we have seen them do a string of remixes for labels such as kolor ltd, heist & their very successful remix for harry wolfman and loz goddards uncle buck on dirt crew. all these releases have kept a steady momentum going for the sligo boys in the house scene. for this ep we have a full 3 tracker consisting of all original cuts. the ep kicks off with kebab dreams which takes us on a trip to the moon with greasy drums and saucy groove. up next is the mpc workout cert city paying homage to their hometown of sligo. closing the ep we have retch wretchedness which takes a darker turn showing us the spookier side of brame & hamo while still keeping the jazzy touch. a peak time track for sure.

the next installment on aus music sees the return of a relatively new addition to the roster rob glassett aka fold. throughout previous 12inches on manmakemusic and electric minds and on his outstanding netflix & chill debut for aus last year - fold has laced together dusty house grooves built with a classic approach to sampling funk, disco and soul records. next up - his lennys jam ep starts up with a dub techno groove built with delayed and panned stabs and sharp, pacy drums. rosie lea lays out a rich and sunny groove as a playful sample filters into focus over deftly treated drum kit samples and a buoyant bass line. tracksuits and tennis shoes then follows up with a no-nonsene party jam a short funk link is set over a booming kick that closes up a nicely varied package.
