impressive debut ep from new duo bearweasel are a new production duo, consisting of dean muhsin and louisa page. with a remix already out on perc trax they debut with this superb ep for audioflys new label. opening track >monkier< is brilliant. combining a touch of latin percussion with swollen basslines and brilliant horn stabs scattered througout its one of my favourite tracks of recent months. second track >drummer< is just as good – its wonky techhouse with a funky bassline and small-but-effective breakdown. remix of >monkier< comes from my favourite hamburg-based croatian, solomun. his version takes it deeper, with a lazier attitude but a warm vibe. a quality debut and a duo to watch out for in 2008.

the whip are being touted as one of the bands to watch in 08, who are we to disagree? this is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming album, set for release in early 2008. for a dance floor feel, check out the justin robertson/james rutledge remixes.
