TAPE REPLAY
12 Inch
15.01.08
the original mix of tape replay is nearly nine minutes long and can only be described as a journey. its the perfect transition track, able to turn minimal sets into future disco, a house set into electro-funk, a techno set into a live jam-a-thon or a rigid set of any kind (like too many these days) into something with emotional depth. for remix duties we have enlisted our favorite producers will saul & tam cooper from simple records. much like their tech-house revision of phoniques bang, recently released on dessous, here on fresh meat they have put together a subtle yet bassy response to the wow & flutter original. the track builds and builds and at about three fourths through it explodes with lush keys, rich pads and a breakdown thats executed perfectly. these gents are on point and we are more than excited to have them along for the trip.

FLEDERLAUS EP

played by troy pierce, kiki, matt tolfrey… stefan tretau has quickly made himself a name as a producer of techno/house with releases on fortek, sounderground and karma rouge. now stefan delivers his debut on heimatmelodie, with 3 original tracks and a stunning remix by mobilees marcin czubala. flederlaus is a real journey into sound: capturing immediate dancefloor attention with its bassline, then taking off with an intense frequency-shifting synthline that delivers another one of those dbx references many heimatmelodie releases have to offer. bettfluchthemmung is slighty deeper though, focusing more on the bassline and percussion patterns. the vinyl is completed by reiner modern, the most techiest track of the pack

anil chawla is relatively a newcomer on the uk scene, having emerged in 2004 as dj to watch, he already released productions on such labels as global underground, saved, cubism, or berwick. anil has been sending me his work for quite some months now and everytime there was a track to play. so its naturally that we started talking about a possible release on kill brique. anils music got the necessary energy to move any dancefloor, he knows the game, and he knows how to shake your ass. this ep is here to prove that : >together< is an acid monster (reminds me, oh surprise, some of the hardfloor stuff) that builds into a very nice breakdown
ultracool clickin deeper detroit like tech tracks!! with his amazing talent and prolificacy, geoff white sets the standard in the techno realm. white is a producer, dj, and live performer, always branching out into new musical territory and realizing his ambitious aspirations

2x12 Inch
28.12.07
marbert rocel are composts latest signing. hailing from thuringia, germany, the are combining deep minimal house, electronica and jazz and with a great sense for pop music. you got to be patient when crossing marbert rocels path late at night or listening to one of their tracks because you will start thumping with your eyelashes until you see your whole body turning into a non stop wet wet wriggling - waterfall esque armpits inclusive!
the original track is a deep grooving houser with soulful vocals and some funky guitars. on the a side distant soundz and lee neilson transform the track into a slamming electro flavoured peaktime bomb.
HARMONAUTIC STRING
12 Inch
19.12.07
joel mull, another representative of the swedish techno community, releases his current vision of what is to happen on the dancefloors. it is different from what his fans know from the early days. with his debut single on cocoon >harmonautic string<, joel mull sends us to a journey through the track which is smoothly airy-fairy and thus perfect to dive into the land of dreams after a wild party night. even when speeding up after a short break with the drums dominating – the track remains harmonic and is designed to dance into the sun in the early morning hours. the b-side appears spacy and melancholic, but again, mull is able to layer his music so deep and brillant that the basic mood is still vicious with the track still coming along in a magical and elegant way. >blossom< is exactly the right thing for a cold winter night and reminds of the b-side of beyers cocoon release
both tracks written and produced by chris liebing at studio one. (a1) supported by ali (deepdish)!! the a-side >bangpop< is at first obviously driven by a central bassdrum. little by little, it steps into the background and makes room for the fine and striking, hypnotic sequences. that sounds good already, but gets polished by a snaredrum that simply makes you happy. a little hit? we wouldn t be surprised. on the b-side we are facing >puckelbop<, a 12 minutes long monster. a good example for how efficiently a bassdrum and a sequence can clear an aisle into a forest. no tree will remain standing – theyll move! clr20

YOUR FACE IS A MESS EP
12 Inch
10.12.07
next hypnotical gel abril two tracker !! on the a-side, >200 grams< cannot be the weight of this heavily bouncing and hypnotizing tune. with a distinctive quirky line and a heavily bouncing groove like we are used from gel abril, “200 grams” keeps you moving all the way up to the main break, and then takin you back into the dubby old school groove. if the a-side was freaky and bouncing, well the ep title-track >your face is a mess< on the b-side can only be descibed as a dirty mindblowing minimal/tech house track with a druggy vocal all over and a very stripped down synth line

dimi angélis & jeroen search. both artists are among the few internationally acclaimed techno artists from the netherlands. their dj activity and production work reaches back into the early nineties. >the new frontier< melds the firmness and determination of old school techno with a contemporary subtlety. it is amazing how few elements jereon search and dimi angélis need to create a dense and compelling athmosphere. >lunar< is the kind of track that slips perfectly in a wide range of club sets. while it offers the dj a vast span of possible connections to other music, its hypnotic melody does not leave your head for hours. >jupiter< is bolder, it is centered around a demanding groove. while the melodies operate in the background of the track, the complex net of rhythmic patterns shifts indistinguishably. it is the type of music which holds you in a tight grip - and you are not even able to tell what exactly is so striking about it. its implicitness makes >the new frontier< such a special record. it belongs to the rare breed of music which does not demand to go into your box - and this is exactly why it is made to stay there for quite some time

TIME SLIP EP
12 Inch
04.12.07
the title track recalls those half forgotten dreams of positivity and optimism inspired by early us house music… a nostalgic arrangement of arpeggiated synths, high string lines, analogue drum machines and a 1980s vintage, new order like stepped bassline. housemuzik 1.2,3 takes us into much dark territory, dragging a similar palette of sounds into a dense psychedelic mix of acid guitar, pitched down demonic vocals and disorientating spacial effects. dont listen to this with the lights off! fajr dub is an epic, stoned dub collage built around classic space echo delay & feedback tricks, spectral voices and a shifting synth bass pattern, all underpinned by a soft pulsing backbone reminiscent of rhythm & sound productions.

making a triumphant return to dance floors world wide, the incomparable plump djs unleash their first official release since 2005. system addict gets proceedings underway with a rumbling clarion bass call. with its central automatic, system addict mantra, the track switches between serrated bass and a gated synth hook, underpinned by some typically plump driving rhythms. flipside doppler sees the plumps going for some serious heads down action. a screaming crescendo drops into techy vocodered riffing before layered percussion builds and builds to devastating effect. this release has become a classic hands in the air plump djs weapon already taking dance floors by storm.

following the big success of their debut release >metro gold< berlin based resident dj of bar 25 red robin and format b member jakob hilden have come up with a very hitty and unorthodox big production as a follow up. the two club tracks of the upcoming >tales ep< are straightforward and reduced to the essentials. made out of pure power. >lazy jack< the a-side is another monster of a track. it holds the dark berlin side of techno, with its droning noises and delays. it reminds us a bit of chicago techno house at its best, but this is just one facetted of the track. it gets its other enthusiastic crazy over the top and emotional side from the whistle melody which sets in half way through the track. this leading sequenced is such a catchy tune that its sure to be heard in all mayor berlin clubs and eventually all around the globe. the b-side track >tin soldier< is a marching techno tune, with a cool slight swing programming in the rhythm and drugged out chords. creating a ghost town atmosphere, transforming the club into another >futureworld<

new kanadas adam marshall delivers a stunning peak-hour track with obvious inspiration from old school detroit techno and classik chicago house. >kokane< begins as a tightly wound minimal house groove with precise, pounding percussion and heavily swung jack. after the 3:30 mark the track gives way glistening synth chords which shine through the darkness transporting the cut into carl craig-ish jazz territory. on the flip, montreals ernesto ferreyra mutek, cynosure brings a south american flavour to the remix and takes the dancefloor oddessy deep into the chilean canyons. a late night mixing tool for the djs. lastly, we find the outro called >moonlight chills< on the second cut of side b. ambient and lush, this one is for the late night detroit highways. mojo and the darkness along i75! a deep ending to a very personal journey.

after his first release on flash recordings together with daso on the night express ep, pawas is now back with his very own three-track ep on the label of koletzki & meindl. all tracks were created in pune in india, pawas’ hometown, and the ep is about three different characters. alicia, charlie and edward. each one of them has a certain distinctive vibe about them: alicia is deep and eloquent, edward is more hectic and restless while charlie seems the funky and witty sort. in terms of music, edward is carried on a powerful, deep synthie melody, a big breathing bassline and some great percussive clicks and clacks that turn into a slightly ravey minimal burner later on in the tune. very hot! edward is a little lighter and is pushed forward by a great funky melody that creates the perfect after hour moment. imagine yourself on the beach when the sun is coming up. alicia on the a side is a deeper, more housy affair has a melodic, percussive and detroity appeal. pawas has managed to create a very fresh and unique signature sound and with releases on squonk, connaisseur and flash records, 2007 seems to be the year for him.
