lifeworld presents the intergalactic techfunk from the minds of glasgows solab. known for their killer releases on 7th sign and various other labels, you know you re in for something good! distant galaxy is a deep and mesmerizing track. killer beats accompanied by a great grooving bassline provide for a tight back bone. topped by erie synth strings and spaced out effects, this track is a real burner. on the flip we have the killer track new life. this track is simply gorgeous. just check the exquisite multi layered sounds and killer percussion. sleazy and slow paced grooves. this is sssoooo good! last but not least solab take things into much housier territory. wide awake is a static paced dancefloor nugget with a deep bassline and atmospheric soundscapes. the filtered synth sound running through out the whole track gives this track a true house feeling. this just cant go wrong!

phantasma volume 2 by dinky, matthew styles and pier bucci is out now. this lovingly designed record is produced by three artists we really like and and it is just grea they decided to work with us again. matthew is damn sure one of our favourite producers and pier s skills are nothing short of his. on the last release we made with them, they d worked together as oblique strategies on balld inc. for phantasma volume 2 pier wrote a track on his own, highlighting the noble beats he is known for and expanding the explicit cadenced patterns with a chord phrase that leads the structure to perfection. dinky whose work was released on such labels as cocoon, traum, vakant and of course on her own imprint horizontal composed the other side together with matthew and you can sense their familiarity at once. the two arranged >choises< carefully, sleek and free of any kind of hubris. well, this attitude is hart to find these days and their versed piece may calm your stressed out ears both in the club and at home

playmobil is going very strong with already the eighth release! after a string of very succesfull releases by liberto, mihalis safras, mark broom, glitches, sunchase and simone tavazzi, dandi & ugo (great stuff / syndikaat etc.) are the next to rock! with their italian dancefloor orientated minimal techno these guys sure know how to use their skills! another winner from the boys from playmobil!

surface returns with a stellar line up of old friends and new faces with the next ep in their series of various artists releasesà surface was one of the main labels forging the new wave of uk techno in the mid nineties, running alongside blueprint, downwards and counterbalance, and this all round solid and innovative ep really shows they are back on top of their game!

played by jimpster, tiefschwarz, nick warren, stephan bodzin, alex kenji, hosh, slam, digweed... shades is in top form of late with their recent ep moog in the house slamming international sales charts. the title track is a groovy tech house percussive bomb whereas house of cards is a true dancefloor filler with strong bass driven groove and live trumpet. hirtenfellner is the man of the moment. with releases on labels such as stil von talent, highgrade, get physical he is the king of twisted minimal techno. animal trainer (stil von talent) shows their tech house remixing skills in its finest form.

itÆs been a couple of years since victim last released a full 12, but just like the buses you wait that long and then two come along at once. for victim, the >off piste< 12 follows hot on the heels of their split 12 with jerome hill & dont recordings. in the case of ben pest, they are coming thick and fast at the moment, with a recent release on lukes angers bonus round label, and an upcoming 12 on the seriously deranged panic bridge label. so, all in all a busy few months. as for the tracks, they all share in common a seriously weighty bottom end, and a tendency for crunchy acidic midsàbut that is kinda where the similarities end, as ben takes the opportunity to explore various avenues off the main street of techno. from the stomping acid workout of >zeedonk< to the more electro-influenced beats of >pain n gain< this is a record that covers a fair few bases (basses?), although all with the aim of thrilling a crowd that enjoys their techno on the gnarly side.

he s the man of the moment. james nidecker, rising star of the dutch technoscene, is always sure to raise an eyebrow or two. not only his djsets, where the amsterdam based artist is often getting the crowds wild with his dark gothpunklike outfits, but also his recent productions can be called mindblowing. nidecker perfectly knows how to combine his dark vocals with uplifting beats, combining influences from electro and minimal techno. s.t.a.l.k.e.r is the culmination of his talents, a hit record already wandering around the dutch clubscene for a while, now finally released on alexander koning s upstruct imprint.
the aside of this release provides a more than outstanding remix from dave ellesmere. renowned for his collaboration with producer 2000 and one under their name microfunk, but nowadays also reaching international fame under his own guise, ellesmere turns s.t.a.l.k.e.r into an ideal dj tool. with a length close to nine minutes, his mix slowly takes the funk of nidecker s rhythms to an upwinding, more techhouse based floorburner.
the other side of this ep is more about the clubs, with dutch dj producer georgio schultz and alexander koning together transforming s.t.a.l.k.e.r into a housetrack like there s no other. here, the unique vocals of nidecker are combined with more melodic, sometimes crazy sounds, always keeping the original flow of the track alive, but taking the best parts of this clubhit to a next level.
