dark and dirty electrotechno....
the solid tumbling tones found on this ep are all thats needed as an introduction to these two accomplished producers latest creation. both strong forces in their own right, the pair come together once again on sweatshop to present their vision of dancefloor harmony, and mystery! sirens is the aptly titled track whose crazy vibe is encapsulated by jacking, swinging percussion, wild pitching synth stabs and a haunting soprano soloist letting loose! this needs to be experienced to be believed, but the proof will be in the dancefloor, hands in the air and minds expanded! moirae works the tension with dense filtered stabs and crisp solid state percussion, driving this deep slab of dark dance into blissful moments of release. mellow yet urgent, its a raw, purist electronic statement! joel alter also offers up a special edit which focuses the groove in a slightly more kinetic direction, with reduced, aquatic synth work and a classic club energy that makes it an ideal addition to the package.

first on decks.de!!! >blast corps< opens the ep with a surge of delayed baseline. crispy static rises from below and echoes swoop and simmer beneath the full blooded base. it builds insistently, the 4/4 structure is infused with far off blips and the dusty sizzles of lowpitched white noise. on dark star warm dub keeps the sound organic. it’s elemental, the baseline seems enormous enough to have a gravity of its very own and the other elements pull together around its weight. it teases, the breathy elements twitch, fidget, become fully formed but refuse to drop. frank martiniq refuses the obvious, and opts for the discerning. this is the stuff of intrigue, as is the percussive opening to b2 >lovelane<. here a rattling, clattering sequence breaks out into a euphoric, syncopated structure. its dark, playful and danceable techno.

vincent kwok, dj mfrs partner in the project new mondo, provides two reworks: the dark and deep dancefloor bliss of >do you remember<, featuring the spoken vocals of tony green, and head to the sky, featuring the emotive vocals of winston and a fantastic, dubby breakdown. charles webster re-tools come to me, featuring renowned vocalist indra jones, into a sublime, dreamy house music masterpiece. last, but hardly least, dj mfr reworks his own get on me, featuring the reappearance of indra jones. a classic house-style bassline and staccato keys will surely drive this version out of the speakers of club systems worldwide. transport recordings revisits dj mfrs acclaimed rome departure album with a series of exceptional deep and soulful house mixes.

its been a heady few months for d julzs bass culture imprint. the response and support from the dj world has been overwhelming, and this is of course down to the wonderful a&r skills of the label chief. now, with bass cultures 8th release, we are pleased to bring you the slit e.p. - greek producer, john dimas is well known for his live performances, as well as his djing skills in his town of thessaloniki & throughout europe. his sound spans the styles of techno, acid & more specifically – house music, which he performs in the club, across 3 turntables. stil quite new to the world of production, john dimas has his sights set high, having remixed the likes of fischerspooner – and now, he comes with his very first release on bass culture, adding his grecian flavour. the >slit e.p.< is a package that spans tech house, house & deep house… the original title track is dark, but rich & rides the groove nicely. the chez damier >late night mix< is exactly that – supple and full of just the right touch of deep quirkiness for late night sessions.
>lazers< is a dark, mounting stormer, whatever that means ... it just builds and builds and then all comes together with (surprise) a clap.

fans of burial mix and grayhound best listen up, cause the boys from succulent have come to mash up the hi-fi wit tha wicked dub, man. all three of their pieces use that unbelievably deep sub-bass that made their track on grayhound bug everyone out. pair that to masterful use of effects and proper ly placed samples of rasta mcs and you got that deep down, below the root line, damn its dark, kinda undaground dub shit that worship seem impossible to not do right. then the masters at the dub-house sound, solomonic sound, rework >freshly< into a sub-aquatic fun house of dubbedout bass wicked percussion all wrapped in spacey sounds. big, fat & totally necessary for any self respecting dub/house dj.

whether its creating the deepest and most soulful of house, or the grandest of emotional techno. deetrons ability to craft exquisite, timeless pieces is second to none.

on >collide< that detroit spirit is evident once more. a majestic track, thats power is held in its euphoric synth arpeggio, which builds constantly to its climax. >dark matter< on the flip is a bassheavy, almost steppin affair, with a darker atmosphere that is brightened temporarily by the lush pads in the break.

fresh from birmingham comes young talent src delivering the >goin out ep< for the rwina imprint. stuffing old school 8-bit sensibilities and new school grime attitude into a blender and hitting puree, src slings sizzling synths and punchy basslines with devastating effect. from the casual g-funk of >goin out< and >sort of a start< to the skank-u-like shuffle of >facepalm< and the danjah-esque >wheres the remote?<, this ep contains grime riddims that will fill every dancefloor with hypercolors, power-ups and neon-lights, like pacman duelling with mario in the dark. with all this in mind, src makes the case that he is one to watch for the future, and with a workrate to match the hype, you can expect a lot more where this came from!

nice price deal !!! idiot is already something of a hit with those whove heard it being played out, combining hard soca drums with lush ecstatic melodic synth harmonies and a driving bass with a strange 8-bit melody that stumbles and trips around the rhythm. its completely alien at first, but potent enough to stick in your ears until you might catch yourself humming the refrain when you least expect it. a unique and fantastic combination of compelling contemporary sounds! altered natives, aka north london producer danny native, whose track >rass out< was one of 2009s best, takes over the b-side with a remix that seems to reflect 20 years of british house music back on itself. just using the bleeps from the original tune, he echoes and morphs his own melody over stepping dubby kicks and snares and a dark, driving bassline
