lets remixer speak! >it was great to be asked to do this. originally, i wanted to do something really quirky and funky with the strange vocal in human bond, one of my favorite old tracks. i tried a few times but i couldnt really get a vibe going in the funk realm. so i listened to the original over and over again and then the lightbulb turned on. i realized that the original was a monster rave track, like what you would hear in a warehouse in detroit in the 90s. so i threw out my original idea and went crazy with a huge techno builder, something to hype a big rave just like the original. maybe this doesnt sound exactly like what i usually do but that was the fun of making it< claude vonstroke. aa: >bounce your body to the box was one of the first kms records that i owned and it was all about the mike >hitman< wilson mix and force field on the b side. the production on the original was huge. the 909 groove just pounded everything... when that came out there was nothing that came close to it. so it was an honor and a challenge to mix it myself. first came the futurist bounce mix... not released on vinyl, anmerkung, ... which is more of a cover version than a remix. i had a lot of fun with this one but it definitely has a signature that steps away from the original. so i had to take a run at it one more time to pay a proper homage to the original with the flashback mix< mike shannon...

electric arguments is the first fireman album in 10 years, and this song based album couldnt be more different than its predecessors. for those who dont know by now, the fireman is a collaborative project between music icon paul mccartney and revered producer youth. the pair first worked together in the 90s when they made two ambient dance albums. originally the firemans identity was anonymous and was eventually revealed by the press as being paul and youth. in september it was announced that the fireman would this year release their first brand new material in a decade and this time there was a big difference - the duo had found their voice. speculation began, one studio insider was reported as saying the new songs sounds like arcade fire meets led zeppelin. certainly so far, anyone who has already heard the album has commented on just how accessible electric arguments is, compared to the first two fireman albums. this album is an eclectic and diverse collection of songs that show paul is still interested in pure musical possibilities. each track was written and recorded in the space of one day. the fireman went into the studio with no plan or clear direction of how they wanted the album to sound. the project took a life of its own and the results will surprise anyone expecting to hear the previous sound of the band.

since their first releases on circus company and milnormodern the 3 mousketeers achieve to impose themsleves on the scene with their unik touch. the band is clement zemtsov on beat programing, damien vandesande on keyboards and horns at last but not least, jonathan illel is warmly laying the lyrics. after having produced hip-hop instrumental for a few years they got into house music after meeting nicolas from nôze. one year and a half later they come up with between the blues ep, a brilliant first ep on circus company. then the guys several eps on other labels like orac or eklo. they also start touring a lot across europe and eastern countries. this new record is called blanche neige (snow white) as the lead track of the ep. all the lyrics from it are taken from the original text written by jacob & whilelm grimm back in 1812. .blanche neige is declined in two different versions. on the a side comes the original mix is the dancefoor cut. slower house beat, solid groove, surround by a marvelous chior. while the break show upreading the first lines of snow white in french. let me just tell you that when the break is over you should fasten your seat belt before a nice take off… the first track on b side is romeo. this track was produced by dop and nôze. once again all the lyrics are taken from a book. here its from .romeo and juliet written by william shackespeare. this track perfectly represent the alliance of both bands. the unik saxophone skills from damien vandesande the one man horn section, a wonderfull piano ride by nôze and the sexy voice of jonathan illel. an acoustic house blaster ! the ep is finaly closing down on b2 with the pop version of blanche neige called >kinder cut. there comes the deepness

groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before

unreleased disco soul from new orleans band, a side is a short but sweet single that pairs the soul disco styling of earth, wind, & fire with the cool crooning of bill withers. there must be an answer is somber ballad lamenting lost love. this dramatic track is characterized by its dark piano lines and is accentuated by post doo wop vocals reminiscent of the temptations.

adam beyers drumcode label has its ten year anniversary this year and there will be many releases as well as a massive compilation album project later in the year featuring brand new tracks from many of the label s key artists. one of the newest additions is the producer of this new release - tor lowkrantz or mighty thor as he is known. this 4 tracker again demonstrates the open musical policy of the label. the last hardcell release was a fine piece of work demonstrting influences from both hard and minimal techno sensibilities. this release focuses more on the harder end of the scale but still remains fresh with its almost old jeff mills and rob hood influences. all 4 tracks have a fat groove and are saturated with funk yet still pack serious punch in any set. another winner from drumcode

in our opinion alex bau is one of the best harder techno producers out there. his material over the last 5 years has been both energetic and groundbreaking. his material for zenit has been particulrly good and this is new release is is no exception. both tracks are different but equally effective. the a side is a driving hard edged techno cut with its pounding kick drum and sharp percssion. the track is punctauted with catchy synth riffs and stabs to great effect. the flip side is truly monstrous with its dark dirty warehouse feel and fat sub bass and string edits. great, great record

this year adam beyer s seminal drumcode label celebrates its 10th anniversary. to commemorate this there will be a wealth of material coming out this year as well as some special drumcode parties after the summer that will feature hardcell and grindviks amazing live act. this follows their live cd release from the end of last year. as part of this the gain series will now continue with more material from these 2 and this is the first 4 tracker to continue the series. the tracks themselves are a fresh and varied ranging from the hard synth driven anthem that is salt and the harder driving rhythm gate bay to the exceptionally subtle groove with deep chords that is plankton to the sublime fish tank with its clever building feel and uplifting pads

another serious result from our warehouse rummaging! si begg is a man of many musical personalities, his list of aliases is impressive to say the least (bigfoot, buckfunk3000, lenny logan, s.i. futures, zygmunt janowski...). but one of his oldest, and certainly one of his strangest, is cabbage boy. in fact i confess i am old enough to remember his releases in the early 90s on cassette tape under the umbrella of the >cabbage head collective< (which also included such techno notables as cristian vogel & tim wright) - and pretty mental they were too. the lost tapes vol. 1 doesnt disappoint on that front, containing such gems as a remix of 80s pop mysteries frank chickens>we are ninja<, and an electronic cover version of >king kong< by frank zappa (ask your parents...). totally out there, but totally cool at the same time...highly recommended to anyone looking for something with some real personality amidst the hard-drives full of faceless (and usually nameless) digital fluff

well, the summer festival season is near its end, time to bring you some of the raw stompers that youve been dancing to this season! greg notill and i will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger: if there ever was a famous movie quote to capture the pure essence of the friendly frenchmans track it would be this line from pulp fiction. fierce beats, frantic percussion and even some acid influences. this one has it all! motormorfoses eto and gab, the devistating duo from brazil are now operating from spain and though the name may have changed, the output remains the same. pure relentless beats and power! after opening their track with an electro type bassline and some nice broken beats, pure havoc kicks in soon as the beat drops. hardtrax half of the hardtrax vs. jackhamma liveact and the german bridge between hardtechno and hardcore techno. the dark force recordings co owner comes up with an intriguing brew of raw beats, precise positioned percussion and an 80s type of choir sound that will simply blast you away!dj ogi the torch holder of the croatian techno scene recently spawned us with numerous strong releases on labels such as submissions and cannibal society. we are pleased to say he maintains this line and even raises the bar a little by incorporating some oldschool elements. bet you cant control your feet when you hear this track

the into the night ep is a wonderful deep, slow & moving record that should be one of the highlights in this years autumn sessions. into the night kicks off with some wild pitch – alike chords and builds up soulful, moody but strong. tectonic move is so damn groovy and might be one the funkiest trax ever coming out of the metaworld universe of matt flores. also the tempo of almost 120 bpm is sexy as hell... all percussions & the bass are played live by matt flores. “tectonic move” also features some extatic detroitish synths that makes you scream. a definitive winner! the tectonic move flores & saenger dub has been rearranged a bit by matt flores and farsides ingo saenger (one half of westpark unit). they stripped the tune, put more focus on the groove and re dubbed all harmonies & synths. the result is a funky smokers riddim for all you dubby tool headz out there.

there is the 2nd part of the faze series from sam rouanet aka reynold (boss of trenton records) with one hell of a track called straight into the wall, a straight up (real) shuffled groove with nice chords and a killer electro bass line! the remix from till vons sein is definitely as good… deeper. great work from till though, he is really on the ramp right now and we will see more of his work on the upcoming trenton releases. also a new signed artist on the label is der thal that is giving us a remixed version of the craft tune from reynolds faze part.1 recent ep.

ah, its time for some eerie minimal techno again. dry, percussive, hypnotic, trippy. when sunday turns into monday and the week starts exactly like the last one ended – on the dancefloor, propelled by a thumping bassdrum. dima is a bar 25 regular and has released on beatsreet (another berlin institution of endless afterhour journeys) before. this one is his bar 25 debut, tried and tested on various occasions and legendary sasomo moments. his four tracks dive deep into a nocturnal techno habitat, where percussion- sounds fade away in the twilight and the groove just won’t stop. there is no way out, just give in to its pleasures

once upon a time there was the wilderness ep part 1. what follows is the second band of this futuresque music fairy tail-continuing the journey through the dark forests and gardens of the cheapers in which the >hunter< on a1 claimes his territory and eagerly is looking out for bass-devils in heat. thereby the fun drunken rifleman shoots down the rave-bird and even a flock of house-sparrows are being stampeded into the underwood. on the other side of the forest play the busy intricate bees in the vaults of the >fortress< on its mystical fantasy plug ins and a bewiched quake is coming through the deep b1- cracks until the magic tree of dreams starts to flourish

likely ep is tims first release on tiefschwarzs souvenir label. lead track alike sounds like ivan smagghe jamming with richie hawtin in a warehouse rave in london, skirting a line between futuristic tech house and discerning electro. a live bassline holds down the groove as a trickling bleepy melody develops throughout the track. as more and more layers of elaborate sonic trickery are laid down, a driving snare jacks out the groove further before a series of effects laden breakdowns tighten the tension further and further. cowbells take the second phase of the track ever taughter before the groove emerges into a stabbing hook and pulsating synth noises that drive the dancefloor into blissed out oblivion. subtle vocals tease the ears in the background of the final strung out breakdown, never quite dominating the tune before the jacking bass and kick drop back in. ‘unlike shares a similar vibe for mixing live instruments with plug in madness. live sounding bassline and guitar lines open the track and roll out the groove before the main synth hook takes over. as the track rolls in and out of its breakdowns it lurches between reverb heavy, bleepy chaos and futuristic rhythms. think depeche mode writing an experimental instrumental on the moon in 2012 and youre halfway there. like many french artists these days tim lives and works in london and also collaborates with fellow frenchies ivan smagghe and dante eprom. he first caught the attention of vinyl sleuths with his excellent remix of db (8)s future now in 2004 and now runs his own label marketing music as well as pushing the boundaries of spacey electro flavoured tech house with his own solo material.

this project is a showcase of ians most recent club tracks and all appear in there original mixes. crank this, is a seriously heavy club tune. budapest, has a middle eastern vibes (hence the title) and has wobbly, wonky bass as well as a distinct break beat kick drum pattern. finally the much talked about everything & nothing, the title track of this ep sees ian going down a melodic & uplifting pryda influenced route.
