DON T STOP - RECORDING TAP (3LP)
3x12Inchbox
11.06.08
a fascinating delve into the bizarre and brilliant world of jeremiah yisrael and the disco funk treasures of tap records. i ll let it rot before i let them take my shit. – jeremiah yisrael forty seven tapes, reams of sheet music, copyright forms, membership applications for the brotherhood of wisdom, two flaking acetates, three moldy 12inch singles, and a script for the still unfilmed motion picture angel dust. we stuffed it all into four supermarket fruit boxes, jammed them in the back of a rented chrysler town & country, and tore ass out of nathaniel jeremiah ben yisraels driveway, making a getaway that simultaneously spit us right back at the most bizarre recorded mystery we d ev

SOUNDTAPE KILLIN
12 Inch
10.06.08
once again featuring long-term toddla collaborator serocee, >>soundtape killin<< comes on like a bashment anthem for the electro age. undoubtedly a dance floor smash serocees cut and spliced vocals get down with a dirty electro beat which is intermittently interrupted by pulsating synths. remixes come courtesy of hotly tipped newcomers detboi and nastee boi. following on from a number of painfully limited 12inch – most notably on herves new cheep thrills imprint – irish sensation detboi delivers a rarefied electro banger of a remix. on the back of this, garage rude boy and t2 comrade nastee boi, drops a bassline infused version that is equally infectious.
adam marshall comes here with a late-night igniter with a tough house groove, and two jamming remixes from todd sines and scott monteith aka deadbeat
cluster, the original london techno label from the liberator dj s and the stay up forever label collective is back with a release from the fat collective s own a.p. dj support from pete herbert, lsb, joel martin (quiet village), gerry rooney(black cock), jay shepheard, bill brewster, dave lee, idjut boys and many more. faze action unearth their first ever release original disco motion and offer it up for classic remix treatment courtesy of jay shepheard & themselves, jay has been causing a stir on the undeground house scene with his releases on compost black , here he turns the track into a classic deep house , peak time summer tune carefully marrying his deep tech ,minimal sounds with the rhodes parts of the original, on the dub mix he goes for a more stripped out version aimed squarely at the dancefloor. the faze action disco dub mix stays true to the original adding new bassline, drums ,moogs and analogue synths, to create a spacey disco track in keeping with their recent production sound

ALL GOOD NEIGHBOURHOOD EP
12Inch
09.06.08
continuing the international flavour to the jalapeno roster, the latest j-funk signing comes from long time compadres in the funk-breaking field of dreams – all good funk alliance. fast establishing themselves as the key players in the us scene alongside fort knox five, on this occasion frank & rusty are joined by neighbour and wax romeo from canada s homebreakin label who collaborate with agfa on the lead track sbc and provide another solo track on the ep. the ep has the trademark rolling basslines and crisp funk breaks that typify all good funk alliance’s records but tracks like >get the pieces< add jazz doublebass in the mix to provide a widescreen picture of what these boys can offer. neighbour introduces crisp electro basslines to his end of the productions to induce a head nodding, body popping fervour. tight like a pair of shoreditch jeans

THE PHANTOM IMAGE
12 Inch
09.06.08
the phantom image‘ is a teasing, acid-tweaked club tool, stripped and refined. it burns slowly from both ends and builds in classic style, amounting to an insatiable hypnotic moment, instinctively connecting the mind and body with only one vital message: to move. flip over and you‘ll find two more seriously deviated cuts, in the form of steve bug‘s edit of >the fruit fly<, and vincenzo‘s orginal mix. both mixes raise the intensity from the late night tripping atmospheres of >phantom< and take us straight into the peak time poker flat style. phasing synth stabs and a floorshaking bassline take the track sky high, with vincenzo‘s trademark impeccable production at the centre of it all, ensuring every moment comes through loud and clear. bug‘s edit raises the drama a notch, peaking with a different flavour, whilst the original is a true gem and a classic example of the non-stop power of vincenzo‘s creative output!

support comes from hosh, karotte, dave dk, tom clark, jamie jones, sasse and many more.. it’s been a while since james flavour released his last full artist single ! after numerous releases for labels like highgrade, brique rouge and other remix dutys on his own labels plus the work on dirt crew’s last album the bavarian native, residing in berlin for 14 years now, really took his time to bring you these three full on club tracks. taking a different approach to his sound we know from his last two singles on dirt crew recordings, the idea was to create a more reduced minimal groove with dubby influences as they can only be delivered from berlin city.
played by hell, ricardo villalobos, richie hawtin, oliver huntemann!! and on it goes with afu limited and a new signing from russia : andrey zots ! this record is extremely dangerous and will definitely do its damage whatsorever ! what andrey zots unleashes here (had releases on enable, capsula, globox and is part of the project bip soup) could be the next big track for this summer, the islands and the clubs !!! the deep and relaxed voice of i am has a rendezvous with this fat beat and the karzy and crunchy sounds do their damage as well ! the freaky track zoids rounds it up and is a great compliment to the title track ! this record is dangerous and rocks big time !!!

hairy claw kicks off 2008 with new artists, a more consistent release schedule, a new a&r (alongside label man stevie kotey) in our man dean muhsin and some serious releases. first up comes from dan drastic. dan is a german producer and dj with impeccable taste. previous output for highgrade has been superb and he has some amazing stuff due to drop on moon harbour (where he takes care of promotions in fine style) so hairy claw have handpicked him for the first release of 2008. deep, groovy and with just the right amount of drive, >xibeca< is a mordern house cut of the highest order. supernature and tsuba artists bearweasel take the techier elements of dan’s original and twist them into a flowing tech-house cut too - so there’s something for the heavier crowds too. there are big things afoot with hairy claw, we’ll keep you posted
jesse siminski is one of those musicians its impossible to ignore. whether producing as heartthrob or alter-alter ego vivianne projects his work is instinctive, insightful and driven by an irresistible force that instantly rubs off on the audience. its no surprise then that the first single to be lifted from heartthrobs eagerly awaited debut album >dear painter, paint me< is >signs<, a track that fully demonstrates the extent of his repertoire. one of the highlights of his not-to-miss live set, its also become a corner stone of richie hawtins dj sets over the last few months due to the massive crowd response it generates whenever it drops. billed as homage to classic detroit techno, theres a real air of expectancy about the mix friendly introduction. the powerful kick pattern, swirling sci-fi vocal efx and loose hi hat groove soon make way for the urgent, cavorting main melody that spins off into another dimension before a massive, resonating synthetic bass wipes out everything in its path. one of the main ideas running through the album is the juxtaposition and layering of different rhythms and time signatures and this really comes across on signs, with disco and caribbean inflections adding a cut and thrust to the chugging groove, creating the perfect foil to the sonic mayhem overhead. the b-side features apprentice – a tag heartthrob can safely leave behind with the release of >dear painter, paint me<. of course its another guaranteed floor filler with a finely honed acidic riff that immediately taps into the subconscious...
EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY
12 Inch
09.06.08
more dark and moody madness from matt b. bushwacka’s stunning production mastery really shines through here as two versions, each with a slightly different twist take effect. the a side, >every dog has its day< shuns the current trends and stands alone like a lonely child at playtime. heavy hammer blow bass and resonating glitches that will stand the test of time. the drum mix takes you on a different tour of the dancefloor and drops you right in front of the dj booth.

SCREAM OUT RMX (7INCH)

million dan is the man of the moment. with his killer album on the streets he is quite rightly regarded as the top uk mc right now. this little 7 inch is not as cheeky as it sounds. sam webster (aka sloth from headcount records) was working on some admin with the million dappa records team and when he heard the scream out original track he was really into it, but felt it could do with a re-rub that brought the energy out of million dans vocal delivery.

FEELIN ELECTRIFIED / TRACYS REVENGE
12Inch
06.06.08
its ireland hottest techno label again and the goodies they ve got prime to spurt out of the old sac are pretty tumultuous. take this outing from heretics of disko, which is label boss desy palmers floating project which here sees him working with robbie dunne aka spectrum is green on a track which first appeared as part of the hold it down magazine compilation a couple of years ago. the two new mixes come courtesy of finlands lackluster bouncing around like richochet rabbit in a disused robot dump and japans yukio taking more of an electro route with percolating percussion to arrive at some engaging oddball alien funk. a diff kind of brotha is concrete soul collectives kenny black remixed by japans katsuhiko putting the female voice through a blender studded with clicks and efx plus leeds nasty bobby, who stretches the vocals savagely over chattering groove reminiscent of psychotic robo chipmunks confronted with david camerons knackers. maximum quality again.
