FAVOURITE GAME (THE MANG DYNASTY REMIXES) (180 G VINYL)
12", 180 g 17.02.15
celebrated and mercury-nominated uk duo rae & christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on night time stories/late night tales after spending the last decade meditating in a buddhist monastery in swindon. this year the label commissioned a series of remixes from mercury rising and mang dynasty (aka ray mang & bill brewster) take on favourite game featuring rising star of the swindon buddhist circuit jake emlyn. mang dynasty focus on gita langley s backing vocal hooks adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and afghanistan). jake emlyns more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12inch on mangled, home of the hits!
the first release on bloc’s new label features the emotive synth-drenched vision of newcomer jake chudnow. the blissed-out exaltation of shona has soundtracked the resurgence of bloc and we are thrilled to be able to make it available in circular format for people. this double a side 12’’ also features the virtuoso prelude to shona, a beatless, ambient exploration of issues which will remain unresolved until the listener embarks on shona itself.
jake mandell delivers 2 versions of >crusty effluvia<, backed up with a mesmerizing monolake remix, who comes up with a brillianrt menage a trois of electro, dnb and ambient.
although the damage music berlin label is still in its youth, the creative input is not holding its breath too long: after the success of the damage release dirty doering >loco remixes<, this issue presents a new 12ep that puts even more excellent and fresh urban breath into modern club music. first up is >whats the point?<, a collaboration with label chief alexander kowalski together with jake the rapper. by teaming up with jake the urban electronic guerilla, a cunning and highly-effective headbanging is produced, harvesting a moody and darkly infectious spoken text. >it all boils down< ... what unfolds here is an intense yet uncluttered soundtrack surrounding a mystifying message of sexually metapysical proportions crafted and totally engaging.

with >less talking, more dancing< on the a-side of this release he presents an absolute club monster for all those who want to find out, how deep a slide control can actually be slid - minimal disco deep house crossover for the peak! together with alexander p.j. geiger (aka nass) he is riding a bass line that pushes you inevitably towards the dance floor. with >the end of the world< jake conjures up his very own doomsday scenario. deichkind and jake, a cooperation that creates the kind of future hip-hop that has made his live sets so unique

jake childs returns to icon under his morning star moniker with a remake of the nitzer ebb join in the chant from 1988. join in the chant bacame a classic alongside groups like ministry and front 242 and helped define the future of dance music. with this interpretation jake keeps things deep, retaining the key vocal hooks and bassline while taking the rest of the production in a more subtle direction.
jake childs requires very little introduction to the more discerning house ear. with releases on leading labels including drop music, freerange and doubledown, not to mention his own uni.form imprints, he has taken the house world by storm over the past few years. here he serves up some retro chicago sounding yet stripped back jackers. seems really simple at first, a real trademark of jake s sound, but its bumpin bassline, bleeps and squelches grow around you becoming more intense with every listen. the flip delivers >good times< which incorporates his brand of choppy jackin beats, punchy snares, gritty synths and rolling bass that rips apart any dancefloor. the track flips mid-way and bubbles under as the bass lines compete for attention before recombining for another roof raising moment. the >beat machine< is an eerie voyage into the middle ground between house and pop. once again moody synths and a growling sub bass lead the way, with the haunting vocals of lil prince (who has previously featured on jake s icon and drop music eps) gliding over the mix! hot floor burning shit
jake fairley aka fairmont und neuling thinkfreak gehen s vordergründig minimal an um hintenrum die dicken beats durch den schornstein zu schicken. geschicktes manöver, gute platte

the only time you wear a tuxedo is when its time to party. so says legendary west coast player snoop dogg on the opening track of tuxedo ii. the blessing of the doggfather is of special importance to mayer hawthorne and jake one, whose second album as a duo finds them at the forefront of a new wave of gangster boogie one that owes as much to g-funk as p-funk. this is the territory of pre- and post-hydraulic low riders: a mŽlange of cali boom-bap, analog synth bass and elegant disco that resonates truth and authenticity in an era where so many are faking the funk
