deep house/us garage veterans mateo & matos have been around longer than the ark. yet they remain capable of great things, as >want u tonight< proves. its a deliciously dizzy deep house concoction that marries contemporary production (see the beefy bottom end) with the twittering synth melodies and loopy organ hooks of old new york house and garage (think nu groove meets henry street). studio54s remix is classic new york deep disco house, while trevor loveys version has more of a uk jazzy house swing. all the mixes are wonderfully slick and groovesome. swayzak & phreek plus one deep symphoniac mixes is wonderful for morning and chill gigs.
kicking off 2011 with a killer e.p. is our favourite artist art bleek featuring a number of remixes from the new art supplies album released on loungin this month plus some fresh cuts exclusive to this release. starting the e.p. is a floor filling remix of clap your hands by our own trevor loveys. the original has been out for a few months in the blogosphere and has been picking up some heavy props. next up is hold it (a little longer) where art shows off his true talent of the master of the musical groove with a rolling bass and a choppup vocal lick to keep the party rocking. flip over to side b and you would be excused if you thought someone had swapped the record out for a disco classic. with vox by noelle scaggs and a harmony that nile rodgers would be proud of arthur creates a boogie classic that is very much flavour of the moment. following on is an exclusive remix of the hunt dance featuring the unmistakable voice of ursula rucker. the original on art supplies has had such amazing reactions that we all thought it would be hard to better it, but again arthur has done it delivering a groover for the heads. finally is right on featuring l.as finest charlie sputnik. art delivers a more techy grove to this classic which is a sound he is becoming more recognised for which contrasts so will with charlies trademark smooth vocals.
gramophonedzie delivers one of the most distinctive club bombs of the year with why dont you, used as a dancefloor weapon of choice by the likes of tony humphries, roger sanchez, dj sneak, kevin saunderson, carl cox, dennis ferrer and norman jay and gaining tremendous support on bbc radio 1. an addictive concoction of house, funk and classic swing, why dont you is set to be one of 2010s biggest crossover hits, providing the perfect feel good antidote to the january blues. in addition to the original, remixes are courtesy of bingo players, trevor loveys and greenmoney.

second set of remixes for this genre straddling track, featuring the vocal talents of soul sensation in waiting, ben westbeech. marrying the kraakers future funk and hip hop beats with a sensational perfomance from the young bristolian made this track a sure bet as the first choice single although the band did release a couple of warm up eps to remind everyone why their debut album boogie angst was a worldwide success. here trevor loveys, mainstay of the dubsided label, originator of the fidget house sound alongside switch, sinden and jesse rose and partner of herve in the huge selling speakerjunk project, turns in a hot vocal remix that pumps the track towards a different dancefloor altogether. he also found time to serve up a tasty dub that neatly crosses the divide between bassline and techy fidget house. one for the festivals this summer no doubt!
incl remixes by dj assault, trevor lovers, pig & dan !! swedens next big thing the touch was recently titled >one of 2008 >gonna bes<< by one of swedens biggest newspapers. without a single release out they have already conquered sweden s club scene from north to south, performed alongside justice, ozzy osbourne, pet shop boys, dizzee rascal, boys noize and uffie on swedens biggest festival and have managed to cross over with both a strong indie, dance and major audience. with influences from early factory and hacienda era manchester and acid house and electronic music scene from 80/90s detroit the trio has added an extra dimension with futuristic sounds that has a crossover appeal
