13th hour records presents its second offering on wax: a three track v/a exploring the murkiest depths of the house spectrum.
tbilisi stalwart hamasuki opens up the a-side with his synth-heavy, vocal-laden track “you as ronnie,” a cosmic trance-tinged epic sure to move the spellbound late-nightfloor. following in the a2 slot is up-and- coming bristolian derijk with “the realm,” a true deep house belter nodding heavily to the piano anthems of the early 90’s – heavy hitting kicks and meltingly melodic keys abound. and last but very much not least is brooklyn local m. vaughan, taking the b-side all to himself with “jupiter ballad,” a layered masterpiece of haunting vocals, fluttering percussion and muddy basslines.

2018 repress / vinyl only!! with its debut release, in any case is trying to give you the best and dustiest takes on house, hip-hop and disco, packed on one and only piece of wax. we are very proud to showcase five amazing tracks from five different artists from around the world on this first record. mr. pc from detroit (us) kicks things off with a stunning disco edit, “boogie with me” delivering a mastered groove throughout the whole title, perfect for all the dancefloors. then comes “another lonely man” by martin hayes from leipzig (de). we’re left with a heavy bottomed-end track featuring lush strings and nice vocals. on the flip, we’ve then got pascal viscardi from geneva (ch) and his “fuorigrotta” that comes from deep, deep down with its heavy kicks cutting through amazing synths and disco loops, packed together with that 90’s sp1200 sampler flavour. then, malouane from france (fr) continues the trip with “i did this at work”, another bass-heavy groove melting down below some perfectly arranged samples. finally, we’ve got g2s & ibn sabaa from france (fr) with their “dumb ruler”, a short and wonky hip hop instrumental, blending the fender rhodes sound we all love with dripping hats and screwed breakdowns. there is something for every taste here, so jump on it while it’s hot !

this time starts with label mate dakpa (rooted/sukhumvit) who brings a really rolling house track with great ambiances. a2 comes with in haus wax label boss tijn with a minimal chords house with great senses. b side arrives with our partner rickzor who builded a great old school house track full of groove. the release ends with label boss bolumar who brings another old school house feeling track.

editor s kutz is here, right on summertime wearing it s volume 8 swimsuit, while the label boss seems to be on vacation too, since this is the first record of the series with no -vinyladdicted- track included. a side begins with the silver rider and his blue-sky edit on an odyssey s hit, giving to it a more uptempo and danceable character, while the italian duo marsupials drops a heavenly disco-house track with a chunky beat and a beautifully loading string line, called just like heaven. both sun-drenched, with vibes melting down slowly onto the sand like the butter under the hot sun! flip-side could be the sunset side with stereo 12 da flow closing your afternoon session or, why not, kicking things off for a late night party! with a deep and soulful take on an ashford & simpson s classic track, this one can stick in your mind for long, while napoleon s luv passage has a hypnotic process with repetitive loops and fat kicks that put you in a sweet nu-disco trance. but, beware, there s a break waiting for you!

it’s now pretty obvious that disco influence has not only been powerful in western clubs. it has also influenced musicians all around the world, and west-indies islands are no exception to the rule. indeed, at that time in the caribbean territories, local musicians and producers seized the sound of their us counterparts, and make it their own, melting-up disco, funk, and boogie (even early rap) elements with some more traditional or local styles. apart from some obvious titles which made it to the charts, very few was known on these productions until recently. from an initial pre-selection of 40 tracks, favorite recordings and waxist teamed up to narrow down the actual tracklist. with no pretention to be exhaustive, this selection represents a tiny sample of a broader ocean of quality caribbean disco/boogie tunes. favorite recordings & waxist are very happy and proud to bring back lights on some of these rare tunes.

flumo limited returns in the form of a translucent blue 10 inch, slice of blue acid from el_txef_a. the release features 2 originals that incorporatesthe emotive and deep vocals of terence mckenna and is packed full off 303 beats, ready to do the work on the dance floor. side a of this double sider comes in the form of ‘neurotransmitters communication’, a 9 minute roller which blends heavy bass beats and piercing vocals into on ocean of squelching undertows. for side b, el_txef_a presents us with ‘fear vs love’, intertwining flutters of break beat around chugging acid melodies, and leaving the listener with a perfect combiantion of sonics. this is one piece of wax that is almost certainlly an essential for your record bag, a homage to the warehouse raves of times past and a melting pot of acid acoustics.

a limited chance for you to get your hands on this achingly-rare panda records track >people hold on<. originally released in 1984, this stylishly classy record feels like undiluted house brought to you from before house even existed! super-tight production skills from wuf tickets james mason pull together a goosebump-inducing bassline, deeply hypnotic synths and tantalising handclaps topped off with earl flints elegantly sexy, meltingly cool vocals to deliver a masterpiece in early 80s nyc groove. backed with a much in-demand killer instrumental version, this record is almost impossible to find out there on the wax market. killer electro house on quality remastered vinyl - an absolute must have. people dont hold on!

g vinyl puts out its debut release by its operator steve albert (gyle). hailing from g block in the hardware city, this hot slab of wax is a melting plate of deep sub rubs and inviting percussion sequences. the additional dialogue ep serves up 4 thick tracks of chunky tech-house grooves for listeners, dancers, and disk jockey sluts.

two dreamy indie-rock edits by night plane finally show up on wax – the first a haunting slice of deep house replete thats been melting hearts since soul clap dropped it at wmc. it comes paired with a near-ambient dub remix by g$ from w+l that sounds like sade in outer space. >its always the same< takes a throwback sensitive-man vocal with a soft rock touch and layers it into the trippy beached-out chugger it was meant to be.
