jackmaster brings the summer heat on the next edition of dj-kicks. the next episode of dj kicks comes from jackmaster. the numbers cofounder and charismatic glaswegian delivers an honest journey, unearthing a serious passion for the obscure boundaries of house and techno. the mix is influenced heavily by how i used to dj at the first party i ever promoted, named seismic, and another named monox which was a straight up techno night where i was a resident from the age of 17. and although it wasnt my plan, it turned into a kind of tribute to the cities that really formulated me as a dj: detroit, chicago and glasgow.
after a considerable hiatus from releasing music, eliphino makes a triumphant return with 4 tracks of deep, emotive and soulful music that provide a unique journey through various styles and moods that should be familiar to anyone that has followed his output thus far. made during a period of deep self reflection whilst taking a year break from london in berlin, the results are at times sombre but always engaging and forward facing.

arran was doing a photography course when she joined the band, and at her first rehearsal she brought along a notebook. written on it was dark room notes. we had gone through numerous terrible names, and felt this was one we could settle on. we were lucky she wasnt doing a knitting course. >we love you dark matter< was recorded in a live setting as such, keeping over dubs to a minimum.
