lyra valenza geben den ton für ihr erstes album -low gear no pressure- mit einer idyllischen atmosphäre vor, die dann in temperamentvolle, gefühlvolle dance-workouts übergeht. in acht tracks erkundet das dänische duo die pixelige euphorie ihrer früheren eps scan, deliver- und nightshade edition- mit einer fokussierteren sensibilität. anfang 2020 waren lyra valenza von der musikplattform shape frisch nominiert worden. angesichts der pandemie änderten sich jedoch die pläne: anstatt eine reihe von festivals zu spielen, verbrachte das duo wochen in einem sommerhaus im ländlichen sjælland, direkt an der nordöstlichen küste dänemarks, um frühe versionen der tracks dieses albums aufzunehmen.

the inaugural release of recently established copenhagen-based label petrola 80, is a fresh 12- ep produced by the danish producer and dj duo lyra. the ep consists of three sample-based tracks, all equally different in sound and dynamics, while still contributing to the same framework. the characterizing energy and playful experiments in sound are sustained throughout the entire record, of which the three tracks vary from gritty, hard-hitting techno to obscure and evolving ambient.

while pheek may have been in operation for as long as anyone can remember within minimal house and techno, cleymoore has been most productive more recently thanks to his pluie/noir label. following on from last years seikou single on xquisite, here cleymoore and pheek link up to deliver some densely packed, production rich jams that keep the spirit of mid-00s clicks and cuts alive. the beats themselves may be slender slices that carry the energy of the tracks, but it s all in the infinitesimal details in between that the true magic of this music comes alive.
