limited to 250 copies 7’’inch vinyl. niagara reporting: ascender 003. ida is a straight line. no distractions. three big bull inna one direction. bass and drums making space for the melodica and the whispers to fill in the space. on the flip, an entirely different beast. volta is all about the enthusiasm of playing music. breathing through a harmonica, some bass, some momentum and an odd barking voice. and then, there is calor, the heat melting the machines. note about calor: this song is meant to be listened to at very low volume, so it will blend in with the sounds of your own room.

37 kicks off with tó, circular, the percussion resonating in a room, the stabs leading, and the bass pumping. 12 is next, all harmony, promising pastoral harmony, synth clock and mouth moisture clicks. paradela bursts in on the flip side, monumental, synthetic symphony, acidic and bright. jordão is last, rhythmic stutter, the rhythm cuts through, accompanied by a monotone pulse, some lost keys make their way into the mix, it tries to stabilize so it can calmly take you by the hand and lead you home, into the river.

the second release on ftd is also the second release of lisbon based production trio niagara. although they havent released a record since *ouro oeste* dropped on príncipe back in 2013, their signature sound has travelled through many different guises. ftd002 charts such experimentations during this time, from the fall-over drunk guitars on *falcão*, to the wedding bells and released hounds on *mustor*.

long time coming and definitely one of the triggers to start this label: listening to niagara and wanting to capture them on disc. their hands-on hardware live sets were keeping people on their toes. raw house with an improvised and fresh vibe outside the exclusive domain of the dancefloor. this connects with their more experimental past as one might add and translates perfectly into this intuitive approach to dance music. vinyl 12 inch limited to 300 hand-painted, hand-stamped copies.

this latest instalment in soul jazz records’ successful deutsche elektronische musik series delves deeper into the german nation’s vaults to bring a fascinating new collection that again brings together a selection of classic german electronic and rock groups, including neu!, cluster, popol vuh, la düsseldorf, agitation free, alongside a host of rare tracks by lesser known artists which includes michael bundt, bröselmaschine, dronsz, achim reichel and others. the triple vinyl release includes a download code.
