next up on francis harriss newly-founded record label kingdoms comes something very special from brooklyn-based film composer, songwriter, producer and performer leah lazonick. movimenti della luna doro (movements of the moon of gold translated from italian) is a four-track ep from one of the most exciting musicians and performers around - a beautiful quartet of contemporary classical music with a twist. lazonick is something of a polymath, having composed and conducted orchestral and electronic scores for short films and commercials as well as being a classically-trained pianist. lazonick is also a connoisseur of analog synths and vintage drum machines, and will release a second ep focussing on these passions during the course of 2018. here we are treated to three luscious works for piano and string quartet, written for a one-off performance at studio off interarts, an art gallery in montreal. the piece was performed in a forest-like immersive environment, and was originally called in a forest (a piece in three movements). lazonick performed the piano parts along with a string quartet she had assembled for the performance/recording. lazonick explains: as opposed to most of the other songs/compositions i have written, i have no concrete sentimental story behind writing this piece. the motivation, inspiration and overall idea behind composing it was of a more technical nature, attempting to relay the music in my head at its purest form, without any compromises, by primarily making use of melodic and harmonic dissonances whilst still keeping the content captivating, musical and continuous.

hinter rhemi verbergen sich ziggy funk und neil pierce aus london. bevor sich die zwei 2013 zu rhemi zusammenschlossen, verschafften sich beide in englands kapitale als veranstalter und djs einen klingenden namen. zu ihren förderern und freunden gehören keine geringeren als louie vega und joey negro. und damit wäre auch schon das musikalische steckenpferd benannt, dem ziggy funk und neil pierce frönen, nämlich klassische, seelenvolle und melodische house-musik, der säuselnde balearen-einflüsse genauso wenig fremd sind, wie lichte keyboard-flächen und schwer pumpende boogie-beats.

for some grungy vocal house music with a touch of chicago percussion and a healthy splash of the indie-synth wave that came crashing over electronic music in the late 2000s, scissor & thread s black light smoke might be 2014 s answer to danton eeprom circa 2009. we say danton eeprom, as the voice on the b2, -screws in my head-, has a similar tone and enunciation of the frenchman, or are we getting mixed up with mathew dear? the title-track, -firefly-, brings back memories of azari & iii s debut ep only with druggy vocals coming from what could be the basement of a dfa rave in new york, while -morning comes- borrows some cowbells from the rapture and sultry french inspirations from jane birken. -black bricks- then provides some slo-mo, lo-fi phase filtered house - and one hell of a bassline. alternative electronics for the indie lover

the upcoming slab of wax from starkey is going to be a hot collectors piece! this release is split single from both the slit jockey records and seclusiasis imprints that starkey runs alongside dev79 and el carnicero. in true form, the slit jockey side is a raw grime track featuring the mc talents of london’s acclaimed trim. the seclusiasis side is a spacey r&b track with the alluring vocals of leah smith. the instrumentals of both songs are also included.
these heavyweight tracks will only be available on a limited white vinyl pressing and will not be available digitally at the time the 12 inch is released.

when grammy award winning producer lil louie vega signed me to his renown imprint vega records he assumed the position of executive producer for invocation. with this cam five more masterpieces to include to the already twenty tracks i had created while in belgium and africa. under the guise of louie i was able to fly to the the us and work with some artist that i really looked up to.the album was a succession of blessings after blessings. i received the support from devoted singers, songwriters, musicians, and friends who truly believed in the project and helped me with their contributions. invocation has been a long time coming but i couldnt have asked for a better time. i feel that all the stars are aligned and for the first time people are really going to experience boddhi satva in his truest form
