basaec is the label founded by cadenza chief luciano as an output for the music of its roots, coming from the chilean prosperous archives or from brand new productions. the fourth episode of the series features two extended fleshy cuts of thick dance floor nourishment. -nature reverance- is a grandiloquent obscure hypnotic journey to the center of the earth, permeated of bass frequencies and jazzy drums, exalted by a slithering capturing leslied organ. less inward-looking but still thousands leagues under the sea, -trance ilvana- has a shuffled prancing rhythm over an ultra funky stripped down bass line, its swooshes and its drops of juicy synthetic quirks sticks smoothly with its driving bass drum. a generous condensation of timeless electronic funk, and a kaleidoscope of lucien nicolet early allure, hard coded in his dna.

shlomo takes a step away from his own taapion records to return to delsin for his second full ep for the label. the parisian producer serves up two of his modern techno jams, a lush ambient piece plus a slamming rework by tommy four seven. up first is in absentia: tome 2, a follow up track to his last ep on the label. it is another cold techno cut with turbulent drums down low and icy, slithering hi hats up top all backed by synths that light up the track from behind with a heavenly glow. tbilisian cure is a more abrasive affair with blistered synth lines and scurrying electronics running through the fast and brutal drums. lali then flips the script and offers an ambient excursion with watery synths forming celestial puddles in the sky. it s a zoned out soundtrack that s the perfect comedown. finishing off the ep, 47 label boss tommy four seven flips this one into a weightless techno groove that rocks back and forth on the drums as sweeping chords leave you feeling suspended in mid air. plenty of ground is covered in this one, and all with equally compelling results.

clash lion is a mix of three personalities, shall ocin, terr and daniel watts. three artists with different musical backgrounds merging forces to create a truly eclectic and open minded label. with an approach to release unique electronic music covering a multitude of genres from techno to retro electronica, their passion for innovative and experimental productions shows no boundaries. the labels debut release comes from maetrik, tantalizing us with an outstanding release. deep and dark warping modulation, twisting upon a bellowing low end is accompanied by searing experimental riffs slithering throughout cortex 11 - b ninex 7 û c has a low end drone of power, which builds slowing alongside a relentless hat before releasing into a mind bending synth pattern of pans and fluctuations. synth depth reigns supreme as the weighty beat kicks into gear, completing a truly mesmerizing maetrik 2 track production.

cult duo rework are next up on my favorite robot with a five track ep that shows off their brilliantly inventive house and tech style. the production outfit of daniel varga, michael kuebler deal in left of centre and freaky house with a mischievous afterparty slant. they have been active for more than a decade now and have credits on great labels like visionquest, items & things, meant and the institution that is playhouse. the brilliantly sleazy “talk it off” opens things up with popping drums, playful lyrics and a steely sound that is designed for wonky basement parties. “valencia” goes deeper with warm drums and synths surging along next to an elastic groove that is propped up by energetic and incendiary chord stabs. it’s a subtle but high impact track that will raise the energy levels on any floor. “think about you” has vocals coated in echo and delay and trippy synths that are lively and off kilter. it makes for a track that is brilliantly loose and undulating and cannot fail to get under your skin. final track “attractive” heads in a much more techno direction with surging drums and hypnotic slithering synths that burrow deep into your brain and seep into the night. it is trance inducing for sure, and shows another side to this accomplished outfit. this is a versatile ep stuffed with killer cuts for many different moments in the night, and each is as standout as the next.

oberst & buchner are next up on freeride millenium and the two bavaria born, vienna based producers deliver an ep that offers their interpretation of what modern summer togetherness sounds like. the talented pair started making music together aged 15 and aim to cook up emotionally driven jams. they do so on labels like heimlich, underyourskin records, schönbrunner perlen, lokd, and always get the juices going, as they do once again here. beginning with the brilliant greg we dive into a breakbeat bath of summery chords as playful claves dance on the horizon. it is a melodically rich track with spiritual feelings that really bliss you out. on the moodier emile night time arrives and warm chords mix with jangling, organic glass and percussive tinkles that reflect rays of light. it s a perfectly jazzy and loose number that really suspends you in a rueful place. last but not least, embrace is a fluid intergalactic convention with sparse drum kicks weighed down by sombre synths. a skittish, dubstep style groove then comes in and elevates the track with gentle guitar licks and slithering synths adding colour, and overall it has the same zoned out feel as a thousand-yard stare. this is a brilliant mood ep that mixes up the synthetic with the organic, creating some fascinating grooves as a result. the release once again features original artwork from the ever talented daniel rajcsanyi. thanks for purchasing a real copy!

valencias alex font welcomes romanias sepp to acme for the first instalment of mis hermanos rumanos for an intricate split vinyl release limited to 250 copies. acme boss alex font has been producing nuanced house music for over a decade, cultivating a signature style that blends funk, jazz, latin, and techno whilst fine-tuning his skills as a club dj throughout europe for years. meanwhile, uvar and catren founder sepp, who s one of the most influential producers of the new romania minimal-techno scene, has kept equally busy creating and curating quality minimal, including appearances on apotek studio and ada kaleh romania, not to mention an album on uvar. first up, sepps cantecul fusului combines rolling grooves with hypnotic atmospherics before alex font s murph injects a visceral low-end bounce alongside slithering percussion. next, font keeps the reigns with mambo 3, a heady dance-floor number riddled with crunchy drums and a dusty aesthetic before listen to me closes the ep with the eerie phrase just listen to me echoed among crackling ambience for a meditative finishing touch

globally recognized and respected dj and producer clif jack pairs up with producer and live specialist matteo bruscagin to present leviathan ep on resopal. the ep contains four outstanding minimal and reduced techno tracks -quantum- features slithering synth lines, a nimble and inviting baseline, and plenty of warming emotion. -zadok- is more rubbery and direct, with clacking perc, freewheeling synth lines, and bubbly, roaming drums. -hurricane- has a somber, minor-chord bassline alongside crisp, clean hi-hats while the title track leviathan toys with dancers and posesses a memorable bass line. all four tracks have laidback grooves -- loopy, organic and sexy -- effortlessly seduce the crowd.

delsin records welcomes back dennis van gemert aka area forty_one for a second ep on the label. it is a second part to the nocturnal passions series started back in 2013, and come five years after his first ever release, which was on ann aimee in 2011, once again fusing ambient with techno, downtempo and electro. nocturnal passions part 2 is seven minutes of slithering electro funk. full of twinkling keys and spaced out chords, it has rugged bass and bumpy drums all making you want to move. voyage is then a raw, beat driven yet still brilliantly serene affair with angelic chords, consolation is a comforting, mid tempo tumble through the galaxy with soft focus, rippling melodies and gentle churning kicks and orbiting is a suspensory, fully ambient track that sounds like a slow journey up to heaven. this is teary eyed, emotive stuff that comes from another world entirely.

french label d3 elements returns to chicago for its next ep, this time looking to the assured house talents of hakim murphy for three tracks of raw, dense grooves right from the heart of the windy city. opener boxbeat is a curious, freaky jam with bobbing percussive hits, wonky, pixel thin synth lines and free roaming pads that wrap the whole thing in a nice sense of spaced-out serenity. taste o rainbow has a much more firmly planted kick drum that pounds away uninterrupted below a free flowing brew of modulate synth sounds. it s expertly reduced and masterfully reserved and is sure to send dance floors wild as a result. the flipside cut freshness has pinging drums and a big, frazzled bass line as slithering chords rain down the face. musical yet jacking, cosmic yet propulsive, it is a perfectly contemporary chicago house sound that rounds out a fine ep from one of the best in the game.

constant sound founders jon woodall and burnski helm the label s latest 12inch under their constant name, with dub life featuring remixes from blackhall & bookless, s.a.m and a scott. dub life is a slithering, slippery and frictionless house roller with tunnelling percussive patterns, restless drums and myriad synth smears that really pull you down into a seductive groove. subtle vocals add character and ensure this one will keep floors locked for days. jaunt pair blackhall & bookless then step up with a fired up, peak time techno leaning bomb with barrelling kicks, ravey stabs and detroit referencing pads that really grab your attention. the s.a.m. reshape then offers up elastic, spaced out deep house vibes with airy hi hats, lots of height in the drums and plenty of feeling in the slithering synth lines that lace up the track. closing out the package is a remix from returning label artist a scott, whose fine remix is a lovably flabby and cavernous track with oodles of reverb, rattling train track like grooves and atmospheric pads that swirl all around you as you drift in his air beats.

after making waves with early and idiosyncratic eps on labels like rush hour and astro:dynamics, singular uk talent bnjmn now steps up to make his debut on delsin with six tracks of experimental and inventive noise and techno. coil opens his account with screechy, unnerving synths squeals, imposing and throbbing pads and super deep kick drums that come at you from miles below. it s a hugely textured and spine tingling affair before the ambiance of berth comes rippled with glassy and alien little melodies. merge has turbo charged drums hiding beneath more unsettled synth based noise that sound sernee at the same time as being paranoid. on the flip, and suddenly makes your hairs stand on end with is gothic celestial glow and slithering synth patterns, blown is a damaged and degraded bit of icy, thumping and reverb heavy techno and azure ends on a brain soothing, chilled out ambient high. these are the sort of truly unique and magically textured tracks you would expect from a producer like bnjmn, and mark a fine debut on delsin.

the debut release for atrophic society, home to label founder vohkinne, is the culmination of years of experimentation with different ideas and aliases. slithering and raking across heavy groundswells, centering around a whisper and a groan, chanting through the thud of drums and ritualistic rhythms, battery introduces us to vohkinnes vision. different from its origin, breeding an atmosphere of deliberate anxiety without fear or compromise, the veteran ben sims crafts a clenched fist,unrelenting in purpose. dark and urgent, both interpretations ring clear through the fog.

title track don t stop is a loose and playful thing that chucks loopy, circular drums, little vocal riffs, synth stabs and tumbling toms into the mix and lets them all groove along for almost six infectious minutes. its a spritely, silvery and slithering concoction that makes you shake your every limb. stare is a deeper, darker thing with rattling snares rolling over flappy kick drums and wobbling synths ducking in and out of the space left behind. its a tumultuous, drum lead affair that toys with your expectation, threatening to drop or explode but never quite doing so, instead keeping you right on the edge of your seat throughout. the final offering is nian which again has super well defined drums and hits all tumbling and sparking off each other. it s spacious stuff, too, and the indecipherable foreign language vocals add another layer of intrigue to what is already a fascinating cut.

ranking records 10th release sees russian producer/vocalist marina faib burst onto the scene with a 12inch that is frankly nothing short of astonishing. for a girl born in the 1990s, faib shows astounding maturity in her restrained approach to sound and rhythm, employing stuttering drum loops to underlay soundscapes that would put many a hollywood composer out of work. ticking clocks is a spine tingling example of this: the texture of the track comes from a euphoric choral sample which soars over a deep chasm of sub bass energy, climaxing in the perfect placement of a slithering arabic reed solo. whisper of trees shows the same mastery of atmosphere and musical arrangement - this time the tune is built from blissed out vocal lines, warm synth pads and a pulsating low end.
