travel agents for inner journeys seahawks take us on a voyage ever deeper into the new age vortex. their last album ‘escape hatch’ described by vice as a ‘modern masterpiece’ only hinted at the transcendent power of seahawks music. eternal beams goes ‘further’ to create a whole new harmonial experience. side one: the listener immersed in a soft storm of tape saturated raindrops and distant thunder…numinous waves of sound cascade to create whirlpools of womb-like warmth with gentle pulsations. side two: enter laraaji… flocculent flows of golden zither, rich vocal vibrations, dolphin tones in phantasy phase - all coalesce generously, bringing feelings of rebirth and light. to conclude: a wondrous journey of resonant oscillations, inner exploration, a portal to other dimensions.#

chances are if you are reading this, you are probably already familiar with dinosaur ls go bang and danced countless times to loose joints its all over my face. a prolific musician, arthur russell produced an abundant amount of recordings over the course of his career. although a classically trained cellist, he released a number of successful underground dance hits under various monikers and collaborations. as a solo artist however, his inability to complete projects resulted in a limited amount of official releases, world of echo (1986) being his only full-length solo effort to see release in his lifetime
eye contact’, ocean wisdom’s latest single after 18 months since the release of his debut smash lp ‘chaos 93’ which left a massive dent in the scene. ‘eye contact’, showcases his talents like never before, as he seems to even surpass the levels demonstrated in his 2015 breakthrough debut single ‘walkin’. this is the first single from his highly anticipated follow up album wizville set to drop early 2018!
this limited edition hand numbered 7” single comes with eye contact produced by kidkanevil on the a side and an exclusive vinyl only remix of ‘eye contact’ by strange u’s dr. zygote. this record is limited to 500 copies, once they are gone, they are gone!
the ocean is closed is a collaboration of music ensemble zeitkratzer with performance group she she pop.
play – according to the cultural historian johan huizinga – is a free activity carried out within certain fixed boundaries in time and space according to voluntary, but necessarily binding rules. it has no goal outside itself and is accompanied by a feeling of excitement and joy. it creates social alliances that for their part often surround themselves in a secret or set themselves off from the everyday world by means of disguise.
in the ocean is closed the “modern composition super group” (the wire) zeitkratzer and the performance collective she she pop observe each other across the limits of their own categories. they look in fascination at their “exotic“ colleagues. outside eyes and ears are interested in different things, ask the right wrong questions, misunderstand the agreements and breach basic laws.
she she pop and zeitkratzer play a concert: secret, order and ocean. they celebrate music and play per se.
wow. now we re talking, all time classic material right here from the strictly archives. the legendary man of many hats armand van helden dropped this almighty, hypnotic slab of deepness under his mole people guise in the mists of 1995. a total deep house classic indeed. dreamy, driving, dubby, hypnotic, narcotic - it has it all. super long tracks, for the dj s to work and for the dancers to get fully lost in. break night is colossal, this one will literally transport the dance-floor to another dimension, guaranteed. sounding as fresh and as relevant as ever. timeless. ocean on the flip steps up the toughness factor with some super hard, swingin nyc drumz, but it still has that otherworldly edge that the a-side drenched us in previously. a near perfect record here, made available again, undoubtedly this will win a new legion of fans it s that good! this one s a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring both cuts, unedited, as per the original release way back when. essential stuff here. do not sleep.
ocean parkway, the new sublabel from brooklyn s names you can trust, continues into the deep with a future dance sureshot! prince of queens aka felipe quiroz normally lends his talented musicianship on keys and bass to the live ensembles of combo chimbita and maku soundsystem, but behind the closed doors of his bunker studio a new sector of blissfully solo, machine-made electronic rhythms are steadily bubbling to the surface. call it techno as imagined by a tropicalista, as the vintage analog tones of classic house are twisted by a kaleidoscope of influences both caribbean and chicagoan. from the wavy beachside vibes of the ep s opening number, to the deep, evolving arrangements of the scene over and the end scene, on to the jazz-chord-fueled robotic timbale rhythms of thank you friends, and finally forward to the future-tropical polyrhythmic sequencing of winter islander, it s an impressive range of style and skills on display from this talented and up and coming producer
ocean parkway, the new sublabel from brooklyn s names you can trust, launches with a deep dive! drawing inspiration from sounds as varied as tortoise and trentmøller, lavender lagoon eschews traditional genre cliches, blending sampled drums and synth patches to paint an electronic collage inspired by the lush, organic flow of nature. the a-side presents an optimistic tryptic: a boy hunting for butterflies, dogs swimming in suburban pools, and the smell of spring rain. but flip it over to side b and a darker realm is revealed â€,”, one in which the cold physics of outerspace reign supreme, and the heavy computerized rhythms take control.
sometimes you have to put out a recdord for yourself. i first heard the east of underground lp from malcom catto in the jazzman records office in around 2000, after a couple of years i managed to pick one up for $100 from a soundtrack dealer who did not know what he had. now there is a few bangers on the lp but i have always thought is was the ballads that deserve the shine, so after a chat with egon at now-again i managed to sort out putting my two favorites on 45 for that end of the night slowy. hopeflly a few of you will enjoy this one also.
the noisemaker is back on raw waxes with his typical sinister, analogue-only electronic and techno music excursions, after the first series of eps remixed by inigo kennedy, mike parker, blind observatory and more. all productions are meant and released to offer a -living the moment- musical concept. the artwork has been realized by benedikt rugar, german illustrator continuing the abstract porn visual imaginary since the label fifth release.
another aotn outing into deep soul space. you might recognise this track as mayer hawthorne s did respectable cover a few year back, as heads (mayer included) have been on this record for years. the new holidays massive maybe so maybe no is part of a strange club, some records only ever turn up in beat to shit, i would like to think this is because they are good but there seems no good reason collectors can fathom. there are many notable members of this club, belita woods magic corner, pure pleasure by my side and this record here. not only is maybe so a total banger but our minty new pressing from the masters is as good as it will ever sound. grown up soul.
jeremiah r has been responsible for some of the finest electro to be released over the past few years, with his mini albums for tabernacle records being particularly potent. here he launches the distant wave label with eight more chunks of atmospheric, far-sighted futurism. as usual, he flits between ambient style interludes and more expansive dancefloor fare. in the latter category you ll find the motor city techno futurism of -bermuda triangle-, the glistening idm loveliness of -streaming to arcadia-, the larry heard-in-space deepness of -cruiser-, and the drexciyan throb of -jar (jamming avoidance response)-. all are, naturally, both luscious and pleasingly melodious, whilst retaining an intergalactic sense of atmosphere.
deep sound channel is starting 2014 with the multi-talented producer dasha rush. the clouds loom and the night approaches as ocean sharp, a precise and powerful work, breaks.
pressing on purple colored and marbled vinyl.
transatlantyk departs for the second time and her port of call is any open-minded dancefloor around the world. as with the first journey, the well acclaimed debut 12inch by naphta, it s all about original material, this time covering a wide array of sultry ambience, orchestral lushness and raw, track-style grittiness.
enau is a young experimental band from belorussia formed in 2012. enau plays very atomospheric music. the main styles are post-rock, ambient and shoegazing. their singles were warmly welcomed by many music critics & press. moreover, reverie.walls.ocean is the very first post-rock album from belarus released on vinyl.
superb 12” reissue featuring three of trinidadian soul legend billy ocean’s greatest dancefloor tracks from the early 80s. side a features the six and half minute special disco version of ‘stay the night’ - a bass-heavy grooving funk monster with punchy horns and billy’s smooth vocals over the top. flip over for big frankie knuckles play ‘nights (feel like getting down)’, a pedigree jazz-funk cut often considered one of his finest. and last but not least is the long 12” version of the massive disco classic and studio 54 staple ‘are you ready’. with every track a guaranteed floorfiller, don’t miss this chance to own them all on one loud-pressed 12”.
dial rb+47 for telephones! known for his releases on sex tags ufo and full pupp as well as dapper facial hair, the norwegian berliner graces running back with an island fantasy of his very own. immured in the sands between the beaches of rimini and sant antoni, the ocean called ep evokes the lucid dreams and hazy visions that pale club kids allways had of these places. think vintage irma and calpyso records done in a modern way, or tony humphries in swimming trunks. four tracks, four waves of joy well as rhythm tools and cool spots. barefoot in the head 4ever.
during off map excursions seahawks encounter the woo tribe, legendary creators of celestial tones. via mind-meld the two groups merge and blur to create two eleven minute plus journeys that explore the outer reaches of mystic disco, warped house and psychoactive boogie. drenched in delay and smeared with hazed reflections of a thousand birds lost in a tropical jungle mist, the results leave you fazed, stunned and overflowing with euphoric intent. designed with the most creative dance floors in mind, both journeys are deep, disorientating and empowering. this release is in league with the wonderful emotional rescue label whose recent re-release of woos *whichever way you are going, you are going wrong* album has brought so much joy to the world. swim on forever.
this is a special release from nuta cookier with the singer andressa parra. the ocean has also remixes from axel karakasis, oliver lieb and tayan. this a amazing ep for people who love house music and vocals.
the last 12 inch in the invisible sunrise remix series and to say they have saved the best until last would be unfair on all the other amazing remixes but this really is a doozy. quiet village do what they do best - an exceedingly epic 13 minute tropical jungle chugger that transcends time and space to take you on a trip you are never going to forget. without a doubt one of the best things we have heard from qv in quite some time. on the flip the advisory circle provide what is perhaps the most beautiful remix - melodic, inventive and deeply lush. an anthemic come down for those moments when you need a big audio hug. simply gorgeous. lastly seahawks leave us with an unreleased mix of crystal beach which sounds like george benson tripping his nuts off on a beach in hawaii at 5am….languid jazz guitar, slo mo beats, the sound of the waves and some deep electronics ... what more could you want? seahawks at their finest and one more reason this is an essential purchase. swim on forever.
during the summer of 2012 before the rains came, the captain headed for the interior and in a lost valley far from the world of men he jammed with a tribe of initiates ... the valley people. the results were channelled via ether waves to ocean moon central aka the centre of sound where seahawks guided them to vinyl in their own sweet way. echoes of fern kinney on helium, nick nicely on mogadon, kraftwerk jamming in the jungle whilst aliens land their craft ready for a cosmic lounge party. listen out for ethereal soul sounds, island funk and dream wave ... ghost vibrations from beyond the reef where they dream of sliver rivers and sleep under the stars.
pressing on translucent, purple couloured vinyl.
multi-faceted canadian artist james teej drops his second lp, eight bit ocean on sashas last night on earth imprint. releasing his first james teej singles in 2008, teej has since become a firm fixture on the electronic music circuit with releases for we play house, rebirth, supernature and no.19 music as well as a debut lp on radio slaves rekids in 2010 entitled evening harvest. since then, teej has joined old friends jared simms and voytek korab to become one third of my favorite robot, an act which is steadily becoming another of torontos break-outs via tracks and remixes for visionquest and crosstown rebels as well as their own highly regarded my favorite robot records.
the miracles club are producer rafael fauria, singer-songwriter honey owens and dancer ryan boyle from portland, oregon. since 2008 the group embarked on a mission spreading the joys of classic dance music vibes. their style draws from an endless palette including early new york & chicago house, detroit techno, and psychedelic pop. on stage the miracles club have manifested live alongside acts like larry heard, glass candy, gang gang dance, mikeq, kim ann foxman, blondes, and hunee.
heavy aquatic house tracks by japanese producer mitsuaki komamura. slow and heavy tracks ranging from more electronic to dubby grooves. out there with releases of kassem mosse, pittmann and the likes. seriously good release!
limited reissue of a very rare and highly in-demand 1986 12 inch from indian ocean, alias of late great disco legend and sleeping bag founder arthur russell. although russells original version on side a is fantastic in itself, the stunning abstract walter gibbons mix on side b is where its all at. with irrepressible madcap gibbons at the helm, the track mutates into a strangely subversive dancefloor odyssey way ahead of its time which still sounds futuristic today. with a raw sparse experimental sound, this progressive sonic journey rolls along for over 10 minutes pulsating with a jazz-influenced interplay of funk-heavy bongos, stabbing synths, off-the-wall vocals and russells trademark cello. one of the great moments to come out of the vibrant art/disco not disco crossover scene of 80s new york - dont miss your chance to bag a vinyl copy of this obscure gem.
after the smooth sonic assault of invisible sunrise, seahawks dive deep and return with the immersive aquatic opus that is tender abyssin the tradition of oceanic soundscapes by the likes of dolphins into the future and jurgen muller, seahawks have created a deep listening experience that takes you way down beyond the mariana trench. part one reveals a world of storms, where wild encounters and unexplained phenomena precipitate aquatic hallucinations. part two illuminates an underwater world of wonder, a sensory cornucopia, where soft vistas unfurl as the mind relaxes in an ocean of bliss. take a deep breath and enter the tender abyss. as always with seahawks releases the album is beautifully packaged and extremely limited.
seahawks >invisible sunrise< album was a great closer for 2011 and featured in many of the choice end of year charts. to celebrate seahawks are releasing 2 remixes by 2 of their favourite musical magicians - dr dunk and gatto fritto.
never ones to stand still dons rainbow marks a quantum leap for seahawks, the first release on new label ocean moon and the first recording from the invisible sunrise sessions. invisible sunrise is the forthcoming album from seahawks and the first to be recorded with live musicians rather than a hard drive full of dusty old samples. the results are stunningly original, not least on this track with new york head autre ne veut. anvs debut album last year on olde english spelling bee was an incredible rush of warped r&b, 80s synths, amazing songs and what has to be one of the most innovative voices to emerge in the last 5 years. since then hes released a great ep on hippos in tanks, played some mind bending live shows and guested on the ford & lopatin album. dons rainbow sounds like michael mcdonalds sweet freedom crossed with nite flight era walker brothers. a fantastic piece of hazy avant pop with jan hammer pulse wave synths, yah mo b there drums and fuzz drenched spirals of soprano sax and guitar colliding with the sound of soul from outer space. on the flip the dub takes the track into a world of shadows, where smeared washes of sound swim in an ocean of decay. as always with seahawks releases the packaging is beautiful. heavyweight vinyl in a full colour sleeve, with full colour labels. the last seahawks release sold out in days, we expect this one to do the same, so get your skates on!
