already heavy hitters on the house music scene since their first releases back in 2012, waze & odyssey continue to carve out club burners with such ease, and their first release of 2017 finds a suitably fitting home on edible. the duo of firas waez and serge santiago have seemingly not put one step wrong in their ascendency within the house music circuit. be it releases for labels like wolf music, elrow or their own w&o street tracks, or remixes for the likes of disclosure, totally enormous extinct dinosaur and metronomy, w&o have found that knack of delivering sure fire winners time after time. already a staple in label boss eats everything’s dj sets, ‘down with tha’ has all the hallmarks of a bona fide club classic, if the hyperactive drums and looping vocal refrain doesn’t draw you in enough, then the downright funky bass lick that prominently packs a punch really provides the killer hook. the, quite frankly, face melting breakdown surely seals the deal, and we are anticipating this cut to ring out loud across dancefloors over the coming weeks and months. competently propping up the release, ‘seizure’ goes on a spacey, bongo odyssey (geddit?), serving up a rolling, dubby drum workout that culminates in a rather impressive snare roll breakdown that’ll have you frothing at the mouth. snatches of female vox and whistles are dotted around the galloping jungle drums, whilst the elevating key chimes provide the perfect musical lift. another slice of completely freshhouse music from w&o!

2012 saw waze & odyssey roll onto the scene with their debut release on pet food recordings. since then they have gone on to put music out on labels such as wolf music, body work music, sccucci manucci, trunkfunk, sinq records, disco bloodbath and sunday best.

waze & odyssey take a break from launching their own label, providing a guest mix for skream and bengas radio show and remixing the likes of teed and disclosure to return to disco bloodbath recordings, where they provided a much acclaimed remix to the labels debut release, damon martin - ‘that aint right, earlier this year.

lph whites second offering picks up where the first one, by waze & odyssey, left us. that 12inch featured a remix by london-by-way-of southern-california house up-and-comer, urulu, who produced all four of the tracks included on this ep. left coast is an ode to taylor freels home turf, but dont think its all blissed-out balearic burners one might listen to while rolling down a palm tree-lined stretch of the pacific coast highway. every one of the four songs is a cranked-up, high-octane, peak-hour monster

having launched the n16 loving newington label with a split release from a range of bubbling uk house talents, waze & odyssey turn to a more familiar name for the second release with the cross flatts ep from pbr streetgang. formed of the wonderfully named bonar bradberry and tom thorpe, pbr streetgang have been quietly accruing a respectable discography since the project was founded oop north roughly five years back. elevated into wider consciousness last year thanks to some stellar 12 inches across hot creations, 20:20 vision and futureboogie, it makes perfect sense for bradberry and thorpe to add the similarly minded newington label to their cv with both cuts on this 12&#8243,,, fitting snugly into the current lexicon of vocally driven deep house.

savvy watchers of the throne (of blood) first got acquainted with split secs (the los angeles based duo of alexandre mouracade of sonns fame and west coast house and disco stalwart tk disco) back in december of last year, when they brilliantly remixed waze & odysseys our world. or perhaps it was their incredible work for labels like pacific wizard foundation, jolly jams, or their own machine limited. with the joint ep, they officially join the tob family, and what an entrance!

having established the w&o street tracks imprint in 2012 to further push the revivalist house sounds of themselves and their contemporaries, waze & odyssey kick present the labels first release of 2013 with a double header of hot house talent. on the a-side, ejeca, who helmed the last w&o street tracks release teams up with us based rhythm operator on raid, an initially tense house number which explodes into a catchy sequence of lysergic 90s stabs, complete with whooping vocal sample. on the flip, rising london producer citizen builds on the momentum from a year of strong releases on love fever, five easy pieces and kerri chandlers madtech with in my mind, a heady combination of hypnotic vocal loops, thick bass, and narcotic organ chords which display a darker side to the producer.
