erotek is back with his first ep since 2004 with a hybrid ghetto electro ep. “double time”, co produced with the anxious beat director, and “this i know” have been produced in recent times whereas the other 2 tracks “4mo” and “twisted truths” are archival projects from the end of the 90s. varying from 4/4 beats to broken patterns and electroid rhythms, this ep presents different facets of one of the classic detroit ghettotek producers.

find your own records launches with ceri’s ‘life holstee e.p.’ and includes a fred p reshape. a strong debut for this new label, a record that fuses the darker and deeper sounds of detroit, berlin and london.
fred p aka black jazz consortium delivers a timeless remix, his reshape of the title track tantalises the drum grooves, adds his trademark atmospheric ethereal synths and reworks the bass in such a way that is unexpected yet astounding.
the b side ‘we do’ is the deeper of the three tracks, fusing mysterious vocal stabs with minimal funky drums and deep rolling bass.
whilst the music is at times deep and dark, the message of the ep is positive, the title track drawing it’s inspiration from the holstee manifesto, a manifesto that producer ceri aspires to live by. this message is echoed by the lyrical content of the vocal snippets used in ‘life holstee’. this is juxtaposed with haunting eerie moog synths, alongside variating funky analog drum rhythms and sub-bass.

to celebrate the rebirth 100th release the label owner shield and his right arm robytek get in the studio with salvatore principato (sal p.) and dennis young, known as the vocalist and marimba/percussionist of the seminal early 80s nyc band liquid liquid. the experimental sounding band emerged from new york city s vibrant downtown scene in 1981, developing their own unique sound, a fusion of irresistible basslines, junkyard percussion and urgent, free-flowing lyrics.

hoel’s contribution to this disorientating piece of engineered sound sculpture, is imagined as a schizo-paranoid state of delirium. voices whisper over evolving modular phases of heavy, distorted nothingness. it is a full theatrical construction featuring a haunted choir conducted to sing in the producer’s own unique voice.
the second side features two tracks by label debutant simon marchesini. subtle, brooding almost-there beats reach from underneath, intertwining themselves with a rich sound carpet of complex poly-rythms and twisting vortex-like pads. marchesini seeks to push sound to the very limits of the spectrum.

stephane signore delivers an excellent record called >we live in a world of ba57ard ep< chordy and firm techno that will rock in venues with good soundsystem. with long an well constructed builds on the opening track called bad trip. this is a vinyl that will no doubt get support from larger names in the industry. the second track is the stanny franssen remix of ba57ard. this is a nice rolling remix with a lot of dynamics and way more uplifting that the original. for the 3rd track on the ep we find this original piece. this is a very deep somewhat chaotic production, this might just be the eps winning track. with a strong arrangement and little vocal edits this will no doubt get played alot. for the closing track we have got >paranoid< the title covers the load, strong dark techno music that will rock your world.
