originally released in 1982, including tracks written for crosstalk (a science fiction thriller film made in australia) and other electronic themes, it was written, performed and recorded by chris neal in his home studio, using roland system 700 and roland mc8. in 1982 there were only a few system 700s ever produced and roland was more interested in promoting their more commercial system 100m (that s why it was credited on the 1982 original cover to give them a plug). the system 700 was developed by taro kakahashi and his team in japan as a direct challenger to the moog modular system. the orbeatize remastered reissue also includes a special bonus track remixed and produced in 2017 by jolly mare.

dimensions recordings explores its darker side on an introduction part 3 with intergalactic oddities and twisted techno constructions, the release is definitely ones for the late hours. ‘crosstalk’ from gear heads london modular alliance opens, a squelching, electro, hardware excursion demonstrating a small snippet of what’s to come from the talented trio. next, french artist, upwellings steps up to demonstrate his purist approach as he unites elements of dub and techno to create the beautifully spacey ‘soft shadows’. the third offering comes courtesy of fachwerk label boss and prolific techno artist, mike dehnert, who presents raw but melodic track in ‘tokio,’which maintains his minimal and stripped back aesthetic beautifully. chicago’s steven tang in his obsolete music technology rounds off the release with ‘comb freq,’ a devastatingly powerful mix of acidic, bleeping dance floor energy!

with a career stretching back to 1998, via releases on dance mania, juke trax, blank mind, and planet mu, everyone should know dj clent by now. crosstalk actually unleashed his first internationally distributed tracks via dj slugo’s subterranean playhouse label, and we are excited to have acquired the rights to distribute all the beatdown house releases, worldwide. dj roc aka the crack capone is another artist who’s first international releases were disseminated via our digital program, we also distributed various juke city mix cds. his break came via his album on planet mu, and has also had a recent ep via duck n’ cover. dj t-rell & c-bit are relatively unknown, internationally, but have been active on the chicago scene for at least a decade. you’ll find their tracks on local mix cds by slugo, deeon, and clent, among others.
