extrawelt are back! although in fairness, they were never gone. on the contrary, since their first release on james holdens border community label dropped in 2005, arne schaffhausen and wayan raabe have been responsible for a plethora of classics including schöne neue extrawelt and in aufruhr, their two seminal albums on cocoon recordings. the duo are one of the most booked live acts worldwide, commanding a huge fan base. their performances are the stuff of legend, making them the absolute highlight at every club and festival they play.

it is almost hard to believe and we are looking for that wormwhole that brought us here as we are already looking at the arrival of compilation number * o *. and we rather do not start thinking about the endless wordplays we could do with the * story of o*, however we have to admit that this special * o-edition* comes with an extra portion of deepness, soul and yes, even sex

electronic music approximately 35 years after bands like kraftwerk opened the magic box. a lot happened since then and it seems all is said, done and invented. however it is almost surprising that new things still pop up here and there when it comes to electronic music production.

retro was the by far most overworked musical term in all areas house and techno. and well, we have to admit it it: so is this release by our new player matt john and his debut for cocoon recordings

everything comes in its own time: a wordly wisdom that marcus henriksson and sebastian mullaert aka minilogue take for granted. since their foundation in the year 1997 they emerged to one of the most respected and hard to pigeonhole electronic music acts world-wide.

cocoon recordings is back in full force with the follow up to last years superb vinyl compilation >dots & pearls< providing a tracklisting that is nothing less than the modern interpretation of house, techno and tech-house >dots & pearls< ii eschews monotonous loops and predictable formulas and rather delivers a selection packed with energy and depth.

daniel stefanik is one of the techno and house newcomers of the last years. his carefreeness as a dj behind the decks and his likeable appearance are literally distinctive for a new generation of young, down-to-earth producers from germany, which are the result of the influence of väth, villalobos and hawtin on the one side, and solid but hedonistic house on the other. whereas many producers nowadays have dedicated themselves to only one musical direction, the influence of kerri chandler, chez damier or kevin saunderson is clearly noticeable in stefanik’s music. his longplay debut for cocoon recordings is a mirror of all these influences and yet it’s so up-to-date and contemporary like only few other techno and house albums today.
