with every album project comes a proper remix pack. marco bailey has invited some of his most respected colleagues in modern day techno to come up with an interpretation of two of temper’s toughest cuts.
“planet mad” is being reworked by marcel fengler and andre kronert. fengler’s rework is an adventurous take on the original and has a strong emphasis on rhythm. without loosing with the original idea, fengler builds the rhythm section into a wash of bold drums and rich percussion. andre kronert’s take on “planet mad” pushes the track s idea into a different direction. kronert yet again proves to be a craftsman when it comes to textures and builds. while the recognizable bass sound of the original keeps thumping, atypical bits of fx are added to build on an unusual but very soothing atmosphere.
for the b side, “naga” is being reshaped by croatian master of electronics petar dundov and rotterdam based fast riser, koen hoets. petar dundov comes up with an esoteric take on “naga”. whilst respecting the form of the original, dundov goes one notch deeper with his wide array dub elements and feral hat sounds. koen hoets delivers a more demure take on “naga”. whilst the rhythm section might not be suitable for all club situations, this is adventurous techno at its best. noteworthy fx and soul touching strings that float throughout.

7inch ep / sleeve has a central hole only on back cover, so that the b-side label completes the artwork. after the release of their first album born under saturn in 2012, and its follow up in 2015, musical adventurers django django went on to unchart new sounds and announce the release of marble skies, their new album, on january 26th 2018. tic tac toe is the first extract of this forthcoming album, and gets an exclusive 7inch, ep release. the track is a dancing, psychedelic uptempo and terribly catchy rock title, and will fulfill every django djangos rockabilly influence fan’s expectations. actually, the track is inspired from the very same improvisation that wor and shake & tremble recorded for born under saturn. the music video was directed by john maclean, brother of david (drummer and producer of django django), and director of the atypical western slow west.

alex tsiridis of cassegrain debuts on avian as rhyw. the extended ep, which represents the second outing for tsiridis under this moniker, sees the british producer pit a handful of elastic dance-floor workouts alongside a pair of more experimental, ambient reductions. despite careful processing rendering them decidedly monochrome, the dance-floor recordings maintain a curious colour and musicality. lead synth sequences drive much of the work, ducking in and out of the sonic backwater with considerable dynamism – almost hook-like in their execution, sharpened with ample distortion and melding with intricate drum work to create subtle shifts in tone and energy that propel the work forward. whilst reduced in it’s elements, like much of the best of the genre – the music sees those elements hard at work. tsiridis places atypical focus on groove, eschewing a more linear approach in favour of a kind of greyscale funk that finds its potency in the contrast between components. ‘iroquois’ and ‘aversion two’, the beatless compositions that appear on the ep isolate the ambient constituents of the work – with tonal nods to drone and noise musics whilst managing to hold on to the clandestine tunefulness that runs through the whole body of work.

lostsoundbytes is a brussels based young and fresh producer. he is one of the owners of -vaste choses-, an atypical music label that has released several tapes. his previous release was a split record on -land of dance records-, named -from sci-fi to lo-fi-. on willi s adventure, he worked with machines and push all his gear beyond the limits. raw and weird chicago inspired acid tracks, distorted voices that could make a hole in any heart, slow and oppressive industrial tunnel. keep an eye on him because lostsoundbytes is a prolific and tireless musician , he could soon play near you... enjoy.

nx1 come back again on their own label releasing the second much anticipated nx1 black. if some time ago they surprised us distancing themselves from their common works and releasing an atypical job that came as a just two tracks ep that was not exclusively dance floor oriented, in this new chapter they repeat the same format showing their most intimate music. nx1 black 02 will be out in 140gr. black hand-stamped vinyl with paper insert.

aladdin is an atypical project at versatile, even for versatiles standards. in the base, the group consisted of nicolas ker singer, chaotic poet (known from poni hoax, paris, and his solo project yet to emerge) and gilbert cohen, boss of the label. the two met in the studio after breaking up with their then-girlfriends, resulting in an album filled with inner pressure.

vectors 2 introduces another five new artists to the power vacuum roster: side one erupts with vacated, flinging heavyweight techno ingot *quadrat* neatly into ones medulla oblongata. a road tested club shredder, crashing straight in and out while unequivocally touching the sides. one of uk dance musics true mammoths jerome hill promptly receives the baton and lays down atypical workout *plastic jam*, an overbearingly energetic percussion / vocal rinse. on the other side, cosmic event cylob weighs in with *spyworld*. libidinal bass patterns, irresistible melodies and not a wasted note from one of electros most powerful minds. breakaway civilization of one: anklepants follows with *y.h.i.y.p.* after receiving a free bintus makeover - electro style. finally cornwallis spoken word effluvium *at the disco*, a charmingly rancid personal account to which the prancing oaf in each of us can surely relate.

as house continues to take its stronghold over techno, even in berlin the epicentre of all things minimal, we gear up for a summer of ‘actual’ dancing over regimented arm pumping and head nodding. having impressed laurent garnier, m.a.n.dy, solumun, karotte, tg (tim green) and ellen alien last year with his collaboration with enzo elia, martin patiño caught the attention of true to form with his fresh, playful approach to house and techno and hypnotic percussive elements .born in italy, but with south american roots and now living in berlin, you can hear vibrant audio recollections seeping onto every groove. citing dali’s surrealist paintings as another creative reference (a nod to which is contained in the track title ‘the tempation’), you could say martin draws on the atypical compared to your average electronic producer.the result is the blissful simplicity of ‘sundays’ on the a side, percussive, sundrenched and a perfect am terrace lifter.on the flip side is peak time tech house groover ‘the temptation’ and a hypnotic, dub heavy remix of black dahlia (the original of which will appear on the digital only release) produced with long term cohort enzo elia. true to form, now in its 5th year, showcases tracks and remixes from such respected producers as pan pot, gavin herlihy, jesse rose, samim, pascal foes, mikael weil, justin maxwell, claude von stroke, subjekt, tom ellis, leif and more

the running back sports team is glad to welcome two new players to its roster. dplay and whiz kid manuel tur (see also his brilliant ribn stuff) have caused a great stir with a bouquet of 12-inches for outfits like zurichs beloved drumpoet community or the compost black label as well as knocking out well-made remixes. for instance, their work on kiloos the passion is just adorable. here we have them melted into one organism called dplay, while mtur moves in silence (or in the production credits, if you please). stretching out on the a-side, huub sand is not only a tribute to two of schalke 04s greatest gentlemen, but a prime-example of cavernous, stoic and infective house those two (no not the schalke guys) had quite an impact on. initially planned to come with a remix by the mighty radio slave (please look at cat-no. 012 to see what became of that), our coach could convince the duo to hand out two rather atypical, nonetheless bloodcurdling tunes instead: tschaka kicks some deep dub disco houz styles of the highest orders with riot-like effects on your mind, body & soul. finally, schroulé is a claustrophobic corker, if we have ever seen one. should be the perfect sound track for padded cells and the up-and-coming remake of mel brooks frankenstein. these ruhrpott kids are alright!

dj oji hits us right in the face with a couple of atypical jazzy afro funkified productions on this double a side! sax you features vocalist kolai & gets eclectic with its slappy percussion & really catchy plucky rhythm string. this only serves to warm up the epic intro of the jazzy sax that comes in as strong as a freight train. doing one of his very special edits is master musical editor & dance legend, dj danny krivit. continuing on his path of afro funkdom, this next oji offering is another quality piece featuring esteban & tettris entitled non believers. a rhythmic hodge podge of sounds in the same vein as the aforementioned style including sax, trumpet, hammond organ, wood clavs, and interjected by a psychotic transistor noise thats sure to drive the listener into a modern day ritualistic frenz

the brainsuckers are back again, with a very atypical vinyl. the big feat original mix is a rumbling bigbeat techno track. to supply you with varied sonorities, it has been remixed by paul mac, who for a year now has signed great releases on prestigious labels such as intec, sino, kanzleramt and more. here again he brings a detroit inspired track which will entice many ones into shaking their bums! another musical flavour is brought to you by dj x.d.s who boosts the groovy characteristics of the track and provides more power, propelling the track in the domain of german techno sonorities.. supported by cari lekebusch
