las wax returns with a tight two-tracker of deep techno-house couresy of japans takayuki higo. this is definitely a departure from the typical wax sound, but this record still works nicely. a-side >big head house< has a dope minimal detroit feel to it and fits nicely with some of the recent techy output on wave. flip for >wicked tokyo< which is a blissfuldeep tech excursion for the late night sets. if you like francois ks techno side and jeff mills going deep, you will dig this newie.

ikeaboy is the intermittent project from damian tubbritt, who first debuted the moniker more than ten years ago. it s been a long while since any fresh material from this deep cover curio of oddball techno hit wax, but now wicked bass have done the honourable thing and gathered up this excellent trio of tracks. shape memory plies a funky line in squelchy bass and jangling delay trills, while living in the future opts for a more mysterious, pad soaked trip into spooked out electro. on the b-side dayna sports some forthright drum machine beats and epic sweeps of synths that only serve to confound any expectations you might have about the sound of ikeaboy.

this is ponty mythons first appearance on the swedish brandy productions label. expect a wicked four tracker of dirty lo-fi sounding deep house grooves packed with samples and sturdy analogue bass lines. vilnius based dj and producer aleksandr pletnev aka ponty mython is known for his many outstanding releases on labels such as tusk wax, no more hits, dirt crew, quintessentials and many more. besides spittin out goodies on a regular basis ponty mython runs his own imprint beats delivery releasing the most interesting artists and producers from russia.
the title track * i wish* starts of the ep with its deep and fumy organ chords combined with filtered hats, clever vocal samples and harsh bass lines. next up on the a side you will find the pumping head nodder * holly fm*. swinging hats, guitar stabs, smooth pads with simple but very effective hook on top. the b side starts off with the slightly minimal track “keep on using me” (brother). this one with grim beats, organ pads, off beats punching in and out as the track steady builds with a rock solid perfectly tweaked bass. the last minutes on the b side is reserved for the dreamy yet hard hitting and raw gem * new toys*. pure basement love.
