i d been thinking about starting a label for a few years but it never really seemed like it could work. nowadays there is more coherence in my productions it seems like the right time. i will be releasing music from other artists as well my own stuff - underground house, techno and the rest, stuff with darkness and sexiness. hopefully it is music that will speak to (somebodys) heart as well as their feet. the first release is called no splice no playback and it is two tracks of house music. vinny (flamingo) is a basement thing, suckle (twenties) works in warehouses too. thanks for reading. -mosca

now available exclusive at decks. one year after the launch of his own record label markus suckut releases the first remix ep on sckt. the idea behind the remix series is that artists of markus choice can choose their favorite track on sckt to remix. the first release of this idea kicks off with remixes by two guys from sweden called splice and bleak.

eleventh and conclusive ten inch of the la series comes from two thirds of the sa-ra creative partners shafiq husayn and om mas keith. working solo on each side shafiq is first with seven minutes of funk split into three parts. >dna splice mix< is an intense mix of hip hop and funk beats, chopped vocals, jazz and soul combining to form an infectious for-the-heads downtown la sound. flipping over om mas goes uptown and gives us a more polished sound with a leftfield r n b - hip hop vocal track >girls a player<. instrumental plus accapella included for potential remixers.

for the opening ep from too many squares, frank butters manages to gene-splice together the raw dna from all of the ugly-beautiful sounds present in the birth of modern dance music. -conditioning for solitude- is the hum of dark tubes, the slice and hiss of sharp synthesised percussion and the scream of blissful dementia. the mutant that existed for a brief and joyous frozen moment while disco was still birthing house. -body burn� is the tropics with a black sun and africanism with a stopwatch instead of a heart. recalling experimentalist forays by the likes of liaisons dangereuses, patrick cowley and karen finley, the 2 originals on offer manage to recall the raw passion of an era without feeling contrived or derivative. the ep is rounded off by sheila fleurraters remix of * 3 minute warning* which continues the pioneer-ist motif, albeit allying itself with a much more early industrial aesthetic.

during a time when its more fashionable then ever to sample kenny dixon, >alright< uses a small and respectable vocal splice that references ferguson himself, marvin belton, & ferrispark records. heavy bass and beats eventually mutate into a smooth late-night house jam. side b laced with chatter, cheers, and claps resonates a >block party< feeling accompanied by chords, strings, sub-bass, and disco loops. enjoy! party people

two tracks from alden tyrell which he played in his live sets a couple of times. produced without the intention to release them or do anything with it beside using them a few times in his sets. however after we played the tracks from cdr we just needed to get them on vinyl! so here they are... two basic chicago house trax ready to be played out loud!

here we have a double a-side 12-inch, with an intriguing new development of the secondo sound. still banging, still aimed at the club but with a sense of maturity and laid-backness, that the previous secondo material for dreck records might not have been centred around. the whole outlook has become more house orientated and we are very excited about this new mixture of the secondo splice-funk with the steadiness of early 90s house generating its own idiosyncratic sound. on the a-side, i think im gonna likeestablishes the housey mood of the 12straight off. a brief vocal sample is dotted over a relaxed rhythm until a break mid-track introduces the second half to its full extent and bloom. ædoktor panglosson the b-side continues with the mid-tempo flavour set out by the aside and is defined by a steady build up towards a disco sample beautifully placed towards the end of the track, where a heavy bass line cuts short the euphoria of disco strings. the sampling and references in both tracks have been pushed to the background and mentioning any of them would not do this exciting new material any justice. its all fresh!

busted speaker brew is the second installation by the afternoon coffee boys on clink recordings. this new minimal rocker walks the fine line between minimal and techno with acb�s signature drum programming and short decay instrumentation. the afternoon coffee boys, aka tim xavier and tony rohr, released their debut collaborative release on clink001 last year with one of the bigger eps of 2005: dark blend. their follow-up ep on cocoon, >glitches brew<, was released at the beginning of this year and was a huge success. their music has been praised by top artists such as adam beyer, richie hawtin, sven väth and marco carola, and they show promise as one of the new leading duos of 2006. this ep is an excellent release as acb continues to push the minimal edge with their techno influences by keeping the tracks rhythmic and driving while maintaining the slow, deep and funky pace that djs are currently pursuing in their sets

drawing from a rich sonic palette, man without country splice glacial guitar ripples with an eerie synth pulse to create music both complex and all embracing. their debut ep kicks off with king complex, taken from forthcoming album foe and indicative of mwcs ability to morph their source material into anthems when you least expect it, the tracks tinkling keyboard led intro exploding into a euphoric dancefloor chorus. the melody belies a darker sentiment behind the lyrics on king complex -you are a true parasite / and youre the bane of my life- ryan concedes that -they are personal and bitter-. this contrast between melody and lyric is a common theme across their debut long player. the six track ep features a further 3 tracks from foe Ð inflammable heart, ebb & flow and iceberg plus the sei a remix of king complex. xi is exclusive to this ep.
