steffen laschinskis project rising sun, which consists only of himself, was very productive since the release of the last album the lamentations of rising sun. in the past two years the musician and dj was a real demon of work and he loves to work in different genres and is he very diligent. his next ep series trilogy will be released in early october, comprising three vinyls. graphic designer and art director andreas haase from hamburg took care of the design. vinyl tastes better

7th storey projects is pleased to welcome back the myor massiv head honcho for his 3rd release on our label. earlier this year, coco bryce travelled to tokyo and osaka for a small series of gigs. thoroughly impressed by his experiences there, upon returning home, he immediately took to crafting a slew of jungle and hip hop tracks, heavily influenced by everything he d seen, heard, felt and tasted in the land of the rising sun. the ep kicks off with its title track, ayakashi. dark, fierce and mysterious like the mythical creatures it was named after, it builds up slowly, utilizing a combination of chopped up japanese percussion, haunting flutes and hot pants breaks, before switching to full on amen assault mode halfway through the tune. shinjuku is one of tokyos most well known wards, and also the place where coco found the records from which the samples were sourced to construct this number: a turntablism beat/scratch album, and a compilation of traditional work songs, this particular one originating from the gold mines of the island of hokkaido. on the b1 track, kaguya, he takes a more gentle approach: sweet, yet melancholic, like the miyazaki movie of the same name. the ep is rounded off with hotaru, which borrows from an entirely different source of inspiration, namely dj krush s abstract take on boom bap hip hop. shards of mid-90s mo wax are blended with anime samples, making for a solid two and a half minutes of golden era-esque head nodding.

katastrofa ep is an ex-yu edits release which transforms forgotten gems from the former yugoslavia. russian valique and serbian veteran selector funky junkie are behind this project. opener katastrofa offers a delicious blend of heavy, synth-laden 80s boogie, punchy afrobeat horns and bold, chant a-long vocals, while the slower, more chugging frka is an adriatic delight all lazy, sun-kissed synths, sugary sweet vocals and sloppy kisses. as for closer yugoslavia, it sounds like a disco-house anthem in waiting, as the duo adds bumpin beats to a rising, horn-heavy chunk of starlight disco

for its tenth release, sharivari presents nakama ep, another special project with 4 tracks from the land of the rising sun. ufos acid jazz classic somewhere gets re-edited by the serbian duo j-house, aka jan nemecek and danilo tomic, while sapporo based musician kuniyuki takahashi brings his usual deep and percussive vision of house music. on the flip, rush hour artist haruki matsuo and japanese techno legend ken ishii deliver 2 straight but warm & deep techno cuts. 300 copies pressed on marbled vinyl.

as the third single released in anticipation of scott hansen’s long-awaited full-length as tycho, “coastal brake” may be the best yet—a sweet slice of dream-beat that glides over the ocean surface like a high-speed waverider. “coastal brake”’s vintage synthesizers set the pointillistic scene, blipping and popping around a near-balearic rhythm like melancholy drops in a river, rising and falling and building to a shimmering climax. it’s not quite dance music—more like tycho’s soft-focus take on the escapist beauty of house music. the single’s three remixes do the original ample justice. danish producer (and syntaks collaborator) manual takes “coastal brake” at half-time and shoots it full of feedback, bringing a scorched-earth weight to the proceedings, while hatchback’s “cosmic caviar dub version” turns down the contrast and places the song in a cave full of drugged-out pianos. lusine hacks up “coastal brake” and repurposes the bits for his own stutter-stepping, downbeat funk. listen closely, and you’ll hear shards of “coastal brake” sparkling in between the beats. limited edition (1000 copies) of tychos >coastal brake< on 180 gram vinyl including alternate artwork poster. tycho is the music project of san francisco artist and producer scott hansen. as tycho, hansen blends swirling melodies into vaguely triumphant arcs that crisscross between stuttering beats and vocal samples, creating rolling sonic landscapes that extend into the horizon. known in the design world as iso50, hansen is famed for his bucolic, sun-drenched design style, which serves as a backdrop and mirror for his musical output.

although jaxson and keno both have successful solo projects and have previously worked together before, this collaboration is bound to be their most notable release yet. a fusion of house, funk, latin and techno, all meet at the crossroads of their studios for a 4 track ep of sundry beats and fresh flavors. clearly the a-side, >tout le temps< is comprised of a clever hook and a hazy latino vocal sample, which carries the initial groove right into an originally played synth section. a good example of a refreshing approach to adding effects and using sounds. >tarantella< as the title might suggest, one might expect a track that would scare the living day lights out of you, but it has more of a >creeping up from behind you< sort of vibe. a subtlety creeping groove subliminally enters your unconscious mind carrying a secret message. what is that message you ask? dance! the congas on, >red baron< sound so live you can almost here the players licking their fingers. congas might be the groove in the heart of this tune, but the melody of the slick synth stabs and rising strings are what ultimately breath energy and spunk into this roller. >karate kid< initially has a minimal feel, but once the hacked up guitar and vocals come in, you can put those dirty thoughts to rest. abundant with an overwhelming amount of unique and interesting sounds, secure this tunes ability to prick up the ears of finicky djs and clubbers alike. it is rare to find such a wide variation of sound design on your run of the mill ep, but kindisch has proved they are not an ordinary label. they are consistently releasing quality tunes and always providing pleasant surprises. some might say it is a clichÚ, but this ep really does have a bit of something that will drive one club or another nuts

following on from the debut artist album from marco bailey and the second album from guy j which have both been well received internationally amongst press and public alike as well as huge compilation releases from label owner john digweed himself in the form of the structures and bedrock 12 releases. following on from the second instalment of the structures series bedrock proudly present the debut artist album from rising star stelios vassiloudis titled -it is what it is-. a fantastic double cd release showcasing forward thinking music and once again showing why bedrock is one of the leading labels in the electronic scene. in addition to the many original pieces of work on this album, stelios has also teamed up with a vast array of talented vocalists and song writers. -the z- is a collaboration between himself and sasse who owns and releases music on his esteemed mood music label. based in berlin sasse has a long history of successful releases and support from some of the biggest names in the scene. john dalagelisinvolvement with the project (he co-engineered and co-produced the continuous mixes) resulted in him contributing his songwriting and studio finesse to -sunrise on the avenue-. john runs the very hip dieb audio imprint and has released music on a wide variety of labels over the years. the album is rich with the many vocal talents it hosts with notable contributions from the likes of astrid suryanto, tomomi ukomori, anna maria x and darren murray. astrid has an established history of working with some of the greatest names in electronic music such as todd terry, king britt, dj yellow and morgan page as well as a plethora of great labels like nervous, plastic city and armada amongst many others. based in japan, tomomi ukomori has also worked on stellar releases with key labels in that territory like avex, apt international and green parrot recordings working with the likes of mathias kaden, hernan cattaneo, omb and hideo kobyashi. anna maria x is a name synonymous with the music scene in greece whether it be as a dj or a producer/singer. anna has been one of the main names in the electronic scene being involved in clubs, radio and of course a whole host of releases with her studio partner, gpal.
