you may remember the closing of space, ibiza with carl cox when he played a bootleg of total confusion. barry obzee hobbs (rising high a&r) spent a lot of time trying to locate the remixer and finally did a few months ago. we have now signed the remix which will be released on vinyl in may and on digital in july. the story goes like this: carl cox has been playing the version at most of his shows including tomorrow land, kappa future fest and timewarp ( see video clip below) but this is where the story becomes more interesting. the remixer, rod malmok from rotterdam aka benny rodriguez, who is a very established dj producer playing for loco dice in ibiza etc and releasing on ben klock s imprint klockwork, chris liebings imprint clr, adam beyers imprint drumcode and many more was inspired to remix the track through a conversation with dubfire, rod gave him a rough copy the following day. he played it to carl cox at space, ibiza and cox begged him for a copy - see video below if you ve been around the scene for a while you will know that rising high records was one of the first labels to shape techno, hardcore and breakbeat in the uk and was huge!

this is the first 12inch in a series of releases for legendary midwest techno label analog records which has featured some of the biggest names in techno history starting off with new material from label honcho freddy fresh under his modulator moniker with 2 techno bangers also features a relaunch of the sought after gates release by freddy and paul mix which was originally released on analog uk division in 1996 and goes for loads of money if you are lucky enough to locate an original copy stay tuned for more action.

ian blevins has been busy making a name for himself on esp institute and futureboogie, but now he comes to not an animal with a slightly different approach that still speaks to the skills the upstart producer has in his sonic arsenal. -the birds- is a focused, steady-tracking cut for the deeper end of the night, but there s some serious weight in those drums and the heavily processed vocal snippets pack plenty of malaise. man power then step up with a -tropical bastard- remix of the original, cracking the curtains to allow a little light into the mix but stopping short of over-cooking the mood. -locate yourself- on the flip finds blevins in tracky techno mode, and it turns out it s a style he can nail just as easily as the more organic tones he s known for.

there’s a new (or old?) family of funk in town and their history is kind of a mystery. rumor has it the le’trells came close, but never were able to secure a record deal in their time. curious and unable to locate any master tapes, it took a younger generation of le trell boys to breath life back into the grooves and deliver an modern update to that which never was. on the one is sure to be a modern funk anthem certified floor filler already making the rounds in chicago, nyc, detroit and la with a moody sax filled b side that hits just as hard in the club as it does in the whip! heres to hoping the le trell boys prayers are finally answered!

d ball s debut ep was an under-the-radar techno classic which appeared in a handful of stores back in 2002, it has since been fetching crazy money second hand & been the subject of much speculation about who s behind it. after some all ears sleuthing we managed to locate the label hq and were delighted to hear they had a new ep ready and pressed ! even better (dare we say) than the first release !
