on the a, brian ring draws on his immense knowledge of the disco and soul roots of house music. channeling the spirit of his night time dalliances as a resident of both the disco kiez and house of love parties in berlin, brian’s productions embody the philosophy that good music is music that gets people moving.
on the flip, bridge guy takes us into super chill with a collection of organic, lo-fi tracks that loop beautiful disco bass lines and vocals so sultry you will feel like you’re floating.

after releasing space control an intergalactic journey into synthesizers, back in 2012, the theremynt duo went on to release a successful, if steady, stream of eps, including robotique de l amou r and vampiros discos (a tribute to brazilian filmmaker ze do caixao). with remixes coming from the likes of david carretta, acid washed and club bizarre, these were playlisted by scene djs such as marvin & guy and ivan smagghe, amongst others. now yann and eva are striking back with their second lp, parallels. it s a record that sees them changing their colour palette and mood, but one that s still haunted by ghosts that lurk within their synthesizers and drum machines. the 10 tracks still exhibit peel s ever shifting vocal style and yann s sophisticated arrangements. but the second lp oscillates between ballad and dancefloor, landing between cosmic disco influences, krautrock and other progressive techno sounds. as a bonus, the album also features a cover of famous 80 s anthem self control. as an artist, o’sullivan has long since explored the juncture between hard-hitting, functional dance floor material and more lofty, conceptual work. from a purely structural standpoint, the artist’s return to avian bears all the hallmarks of previous output under the alias, utilising the same palette found on early ep’s for guy brewer’s label. stripped back and driven, the music marries caustic drum-machine polyrhythms with warping, pitch bent leads and characteristically atmospheric use of reverb. it’s a decidedly dance floor offering, but the music comes refracted through o’sullivan’s own lens, with plenty of elegant references to a career spent exploring much of the techno genre’s periphery, from noise to new wave. crushed vox bubble up from beneath wrought-iron percussion and the artist takes time to step away from high energy 4×4 workouts to explore more complex rhythmic structures and harsh, low tempo grooves.

palette recordings celebrates its 13 year anniversary with a release by the duo that started it all for the label. no giant mix compilation or collection of remixes, just another example of what has built the foundation of palette over the last 13 years. john tejada & arian leviste have been collaborating for over 18 years now. with this release the duo in a way come full circle, combining some of their oldest production techniques with newer ones. its been a long road for these 2 seeing styles and trends change, equipment and technology come and go over the years, but what has remained a constant is their vision of electronic music. >messenger< with its subtle intro of modular synths and rhythmic pads breaks out of its sinister drop full force into a multi dimensional crowd pleaser. the stabs continue to build energy while layered drum programming and modulating synth lines escalate the tracks energy. on the flip, >observer< continues with a fierce pace that harkens back to the days of palette 4, combining vintage synth stabs and drum machines recreating that classic vibe which is gaining such momentum again these days. the difference here is these guys were around at the time already releasing music that would garner them such high acclaim over the years.
