art alfie joined the toy tonics crew ! you know him from studio barnhus. he released his album last on axel bomans label last year and a couple of hot tracks with longtime partner mr. tophat before that. his first ep for toy tonics features 3 of the sweetest bangers he did till now. what a wonderful vibe! and the remix … killer. by stockholms amazing newcomers mount liberation unlimited (who just released an ep on permanent vacation). art alfie is busy these days: besides his involvement with toy tonics he started a own label (velvet pony). even if you might know him mainly from the kick-ass dancefloor stuff he has been doing with karlovak and the studio barnhus gang - there is some more complex background here: alfie used to play in hardcore and psychedelic bands and has a real golden hand when it comes to work with musicians. in fact currently he is also producing some stuff for swedish supergroup/hotshot band ‚off the meds‘! yes, stay tuned! art alfie is coming on strong ?? in 2019!

after more than 10 years of making music it finally time for legendary stockholmian mans glaesers solo debut. in his baggage youll find everything from the 2012 album with stay gold that included the hits backseat (the most played track on swedish radio the year of the release) and wallpaper that was topping charts around europe to feautures on karlovak and velvet pony with label head art alfie to tours around the world with savage skulls. hes also involved with of the meds, a swedish house group with a couple of eps out and more music coming up on studio barnhus. this includes three varied tracks. first out is the french filter house burner velvet tony. followed by the suave swing of angelina and rounded with the organic headiness of o.0.o.

next up to bat on art alfies velvet pony is stockholm talent and karlovak alumni cj scott and he hits way out of the park. the ep includes the highly anticipated track peaktimekatten already featured on baba stiltz resident advisor mix along with two more housebombs both bearing cjs signature touch of speed and urgency stretched out over the full length capacity of a records side. his previous release on karlovak gained huge support from the likes of martinez brothers and cassy.

art alfie inaugurates his velvet pony imprint with a four track ep. the new label will function as a platform for the artist and his friends, shining light on a catalogue of music from the stockholm scene. having built a strong reputation alongside mr. tophat with a string of revered releases on the duos karlovak imprint, velvet pony signals the opening of a new door for art alfie. the project arrives after a highly acclaimed album on studio barnhaus, as well as his first solo ep on karlovak last year on which the underground hit flaunting was featured. velvet pony trax 1 sees art alfie brandishing his immaculate production technique over 4 distinct grooves. soft spoken takes us to the twilight zone with low slung bass riffs and jazzy chords, whilst ‘since ive seen you offers a dubbed out dose of twisted disco for the after-hours. on the b side, hideouts pairs hypnotic percussion with an undeniable funk, and front, a co-production with mans glaeser - raises the heat for an energetic finish.

art alfie enjoyed a successful 2017 as a solo artist. his first project of the year, the ‘reveries of’ lp, released on none other than studio barnhus. this was swiftly followed up by another solo effort on his karlovak imprint he runs alongside mr tophat. both releases garnered plenty of support from across the dj spectrum.

visionquest special edition returns this september with sakro s supersymmetry ep. edgardo alonso aka mexican producer and dj sakro has been rising up the ranks over the past few years with his raw, stripped-back approach to house seeing him release material with revered imprints in the field such as raum...musik, housewax, karlovak and fathers & sons. here we see the sakro joining the roster of visionquest offshoot special edition, the vinyl only imprint home to material from ricardo villalobos, craig richards, wareika and konrad black amongst others. up first on the package is lusyd , a shuffling percussion fuelled number featuring swinging snares, murky atmospheric pads and choppy sub bass hits at its core. jazz in mars follows embracing robust rhythms and an amalgamation of jazzy sample snippets alongside resonant synth swells to create a sturdy peak time workout. voices opens the b-side of the release with heavily swung drums, smooth ethereal chords and lumpy sub frequencies while a dark and brooding vocal ebbs and flows throughout the composition. title-cut supersymmetry then closes out the release with an energetic rhythmic drive, intricately modulating synth flutters and snaking pad lines.
