multi-faceted canadian artist james teej drops his second lp, eight bit ocean on sashas last night on earth imprint. releasing his first james teej singles in 2008, teej has since become a firm fixture on the electronic music circuit with releases for we play house, rebirth, supernature and no.19 music as well as a debut lp on radio slaves rekids in 2010 entitled evening harvest. since then, teej has joined old friends jared simms and voytek korab to become one third of my favorite robot, an act which is steadily becoming another of torontos break-outs via tracks and remixes for visionquest and crosstown rebels as well as their own highly regarded my favorite robot records.

ever-impressing uk talent james dexter makes a return to bondage-music this december as he drops his latest three track ep lets go back. 2018 has been a substantial year for london based dj and producer james dexter, with appearances at the likes of fabric (london), claire (amsterdam) and sash (sydney) and releases on little helpers, gruuv, deeperfect and his own inermu imprint in the past 12 months alone. with the new year in sight, here we find three new fresh productions in the form of his lets go back ep, marking a return to bondage music in the process following his recent remix of frinks sofisticate on the imprint. title cut lets go back opens proceedings as dexter reveals an up-front, bumping cut armed with crunchy drum licks, infectious vocal samples and rich, airy chords, before simple things utlises further rich and soulful vocals alongside crisp skipping hats and resonant kicks to guide the production through seven minutes of groove driven house music. last up, dexters roll through pairs refined, stripped back organic percussion arrangements with wandering synth lines and vocal coos to wrap up the ep in fine fashion.

james dexters star has been rising for a while now - the young brit turning out killer tracks regularly on the back of hugely well received dj sets. on his second outing for dessous recordings, dexter does what he does best - four slices of deep, funky and vibing house music for the floor. lead track drift is typical of dexters flair for subtle, edgy sounds, wrapped inside a warm and inviting groove. elements come and go, but the shuffling, infection feel runs throughout. take me is a more upfront vibe with a seriously bumping groove - dexter clearly well versed in the roots of house music from chicago. �whose rules ?� is a snappy, bright and lively production, with a sub bass that will troubler some of the world�s best club systems in the coming months. the light, jazzy vocals offsets the groove perfectly - sure to be a big tune for a wide variety of djs. the last track of the release is disco deep - and it pretty much does exactly what it says - a swung, groovy feel punctuated by disco claps and balearic flourishes that will sound as good on the beach as in the basement.
