soft talk is the latest alias that natal zaks - our longtime danish friend and a musician we have been constantly releasing under different monikers throughout the last 5 years - picked out for us. he is hands down the most talented producer we have ever met and it is always a privilege to be able release his music under any name he chooses. we have seen his music go through many transformations and they were always for the best. this time we feel the exact same thing, that this is our favorite music ever and we will never want to release anything else again. that is never true of course, but the mercy ep does feel a lot like that.

local talk release number 66 moves in deeper territories with a duo that needs no further introduction, greg dowling, shane johnson aka fish go deep. these two fine gents have been releasing music for more than two decades. both greg & shane played an integral part in the emergence of house music in cork city between the years of 1988 and 2001 as their well renowned sweat night at sir henrys helped to attract a host of talent, such as kerri chandler, laurent garnier, dj deep, glenn underground, derrick may just to name a few. it s a big, big honour to have them on aboard for this debut on local talk. first track, off script, takes us straight back to the days of prescription. the driving kick and bassline, warm pads and a hypnotic melody line that crescendos throughout the track keeping you hooked from start to finish. on the flip, northern reach, follows on the same theme. it hits deep, the strings adds that extra bit of drama and again showing the duo s skill in creating perfect atmospheric and timeless deep house. you wouldn t be surprised to hear dixon drop this in a dj set.

jamie jones revered label hot creations is back with another hotly-anticipated ep. wobble talk comes courtesy of toronto-based dj & producer nathan barato and features sasha brown.

if you ve followed local talk thru the years you ve most likely noticed how we like to throw a few curve-balls every now and then. for our 65th release we ve got gomma boss mathias modica aka munk and ndatl head honcho kai alce sharing the black gold. two producers with their own unique style presenting something special. while munk s original version of hot medusa is a shimmering and warm head-nodding & toe-tapping jam, the remix by mr alce is deep, soulful and musically rich house. two very different takes on one track, take your pick. on the flip munk delivers purple dust. this time he s upped the tempo a few bpm s, accompanied by a deep bassline with lush melodic synths and chords. mr alce ends the 12- with a dub of hot medusa which is brilliant from start to finish. another highly recommended and essential release.

the next project on opilec music is a fine ep produced by label boss i-robots together with the legendary piatto brothers, alessandro and davide, and comes with an unreleased dub as well as a remix by rekids boss radio slave.

ever since the debut, communication ep which also marked our 50th release, alexander lay-far has a special place in the local talk family.

always eager to champion new talent, dessous recordings unearth a precious gem from brussels-based lockwood, a duo comprising childhood friends gert-jan haegeman and billy hillaert. ‘lets talk sets out their stall: a shuffling, shimmying groove upon which an unruffled bassline and blue-tinged jazz chords blissfully coast. this is warm, dreamy, house so deliciously laidback and soulful that it never outstays its 9-minute running time.

we had no choice but to bring back our friend kiko navarro after the success of the new life ep released on local talk earlier this year. isao is kiko at his finest, a beautiful and hypnotic house track that has the perfect blend of afro and latin elements with a bouncy electronic edge. theres also a mighty fine remix coming from jose marquez. jose develops the vocal elements and brings in a whole orchestra of drums taking the track in a sweatier direction. kiko also delivers a koki dub where he continues on the same vibe and adds strings complimented by shakers and percussions throughout the track.

in flagranti/craig yamey/andy butler/wolfram/dinamo azari. in flagranti prove once again that their knowledge for quality disco grooves is consummate, showing off top notch use of reminiscent samples and funky synths in new single double talk.

adesse versions started out as a re-edit series, with humble ambitions of releasing a couple of white labels, nothing more, nothing less. it kept growing with both original productions and remixes appearing. it didn t take long until tracks such as pressured, modal and justified appeared on charts and the records found their way to such esteemed people as derrick may, larry heard, gilles peterson and of course mad mats & tooli. since then it s been an ongoing theme with kevin gormans music, yes that s his real name. always well received and played by many.

a transverse flutist is an arguably rare sight in electronic dance music, but thats not the only thing setting apart trained instrumentalist and upcoming producer l_cio. having become known to a wider audience thanks to his collaborations with floor-savvy artists like portable or patrice bäumel, the sao paulo native doesnt aspire to be a dj, but instead delves deeper into live performance in a club context - which led him to become that rarest of all things, a live electronic musician holding residencies in regular clubs without ever so much as touching a record. for the latest release from d.o.c., l_cio sat down with aroop roy and the labels mastermind gui boratto to produce an exquisite ep full of enticing grooves, lush harmonies and organic flow, engineered to perfection by gui himself. its an exciting step for both the imprint and the artist - pointing in different directions, but all of them right.

atjazz on local talk! pretty good combo right? well, just wait until you hear fox tooth and we re quite sure you ll agree with us that this is something above normal rank. martin iveson aka atjazz gave us a release that will work just as well on big sound systems as well as in those dark house basements. the original version is an electronic house jam that s equipped with all necessary tools in order to peak in the main room but without all the played out tech-house schemes. it s uplifting yet dark and carves a very personal groove - yum ! oh, don t miss the killer break down...big! the second version comes in the form of his inspired atjazz galaxy aart dub and this to be fair is more of a remix than a dub. here we step straight down to the darkness for a warming deep house cut that sounds like something from the prescription archives but still retaining the trademark atjazz sound. this is simply, sophisticated house music for those who like things real.

azrael and ghost form the two original tracks on hvobs sixth ep. not only do they offer an acoustic and conceptual taste of this springs hvob album, they are, moreover, accompanied by two remixes: pillow talk from san francisco (wolf + lamb, life & death) apply their sound to the pulsating and percussive arc of suspense that is album-opener azrael

no stranger to the house scene, kiko navarro is a dj and producer whose productions, remixes and edits have appeared on an impressive list of labels for many years.

out of rome, sofatalk soars high on this ep, feeling out the difference between a lifetime on earth or one really cool moment above it. the title track breathes and evolves via a series of flourishes on the playful side of things - this one is no beard stroker. cloudy soul keeps the optimism and front foot action rolling with an excursion slightly to the deeper end without ever fully taking the plunge. wrapping it up, on reflection is a tight little rhythm-box-driven number that takes you by surprise, transplanting you from the floor to the lower middle stratosphere without you realising. japanese producer 9dw then turns it into a hot stepper of its own, keeping the energy up there but differentiating the bounce.

the debut release on office recordings is the first part of a series produced by label founder baaz. in my mind is a subtle, shiny piece of jazzyfied house music with a steady rolling groove and dirty kickdrum. glim bangs the box with deep dubs and a sexy vigorous groove. the flip starts with two mind bending downbeat cuts with a stumbling beat. last but not least a slowburning remix of way out citti by matthias reiling (sessionn victim, giegling recordings) and björn astrup who did a brilliant job twisting the original into a soulful homage to the slow side of house music.

new year, new release and a new local talk member to introduce to you all - lets all welcome merrick. this young wiz kid steps up to the plate with a three track sweaty and headstrong release for our local talk off shoot ltx. developed deep inside his sound lab somewhere in europe, using dark grooves and dusty chords as the foundation - this release leaves you in no doubt where his current position is - in the club. from the opening track do that with its chunky grooves and warm basslines via the scene, a basement deep house track that ll satisfy all the moodymann fans out there. the last track, devils dance, keeps us hypnotically locked from start to finish with its rich and warm chords, have a listen - youll understand why.

it has been local talk bosses mad mats & toolis secret weapon during their dj sets over the past months and have destroyed clubs from london to berlin. with a super catchy chord theme, bumpy 4/4 beats and a slight uk feel this is as bad as it gets. it is just one of those tunes you immediately recognise and can relate with. together with a deep journey house remix from ad bourke and a fierce uk inspired bass/house mix from colognes hade we dare to say that this is one the finest releases on local talk so far. original bristol cat crackazat (now residing in uppsala, sweden) got a sound that fuses jazz theories, electronic 4/4s with a deep uk underground mentality. think underground resistance meets floating points and your almost there. somewhere else is the second single from crackazat on local talk and in early 2015 he will drop his debut album crescendo on local talk.

just over a year ago hot creations sub-label hottrax released the massive puke it up from waff. making their debut on the label, mannheim natives bunte bummler follow up with a monster of a release, the purple talk ep. here they deliver three tech-house bombs directed straight at the peak time dancefloor. solid basslines, vocal snippets, sonic layers followed by hypnotic yet trippy fx, infectious melodies and ounces of energy make this an essential release for any record bag.purple talk is being heavily championed by jamie jones, richy ahmed, lee foss & patrick topping.

we are very honoured to welcome the cologne-based producers hade + gutta to the local talk family. their debut release marks a further development of the local talk sound, balancing between house & bass. the ep kicks off with *nothing wrong*, a track built around a bouncy bass riff that lingers and weaves around a clever vocal splicing. *in me* continues where *nothing wrong* left off but adds more depth and ingenious stabs, it is a 100% bouncing track for sure. ending the ep is hades solo number *baphome*. a bass fuelled floor packer with nicely interwoven synths and a hypnotic house groove that remains present throughout the track. in conclusion - a garage-esqe belter with the right amount of wobbly bass to satisfy all your dj & dance floor needs.

cut a. kaos has been in the music and dj business since many years. last summer, he actively returned into techno with the purpose to create a new album. in other words, he targeted a genuine techno album containing two parts. the first one is a retrospective view to the origins of techno, consequently deep tech is accompanied by clear acid structures, exhibited by artists such as the martian, beltram or the old umek stuff. although many styles are aggregated, they are all pure techno. niereich, austrias number one techno artist, contributed a brilliant remix of *because it s acid*! another artist, edelstahl, produced a remix of *walk and talk*, which resulted in a hard and fat monster!

javier & luis garayalde aka kyodai are back on local talk with their third release since the debut *breaking* back in 2012. as always we are thrilled to present new tracks from the duo whose been integral in establishing local talk. the pace is set with the first track *konbanwa*, showcasing the duos phenomenal skills in creating something both classic and modern by fusing a tight and driving groove, tension building chords and a bumpy bass hook to great effect. believe us when we say it has been an absolute highlight in our dj-sets thru out the summer. on *so special* the brothers go back to their roots and create a track that has got both the sound and feel of their previous tracks *breaking* and *the scene* - in other words, another big track from kyodai!

mr saag is back for his third release on local talk, *in the box* and this time he went all in. this 12 provides a meaty affair with firm drums, well-treated vocal snippets, organ hooks and the works. the opening track *in the box* uses strong synth stabs to full effect and the marriage of percussive and crunchy rhythms in this track is saag at his best. it is so good we decided to include a drum track of it too! *suddenly i woke up* is basement house with organ hook, afro percussive rhythms and a bassline from the deep depths of detroit.

its time for local talk to go local again with another swedish producer, eric ericsson. with numerous releases out in labels like planet e, fragile and freerange he is one of those producers with one foot in the techno scene and another in the more soulful house scene. basically, he is not a one trick pony! for his release on local talk we would say he lands somewhere between classic chi-town house and thumping nyc house groove but without sounding too retro or washed out. its simply real house music!

sometimes it is best to let the music do the talking, this is one of those occasions. local talks 46th release comes from exciting debutant sameed. little did we know about sameed before we got the four tracks for this 12 inch, for all we know it could be your neighbour. quick-firing the release is spend, functional as a set highlight with its dubby chords, vocal snippets and a wonky bassline. included on the b-side is a dub that will work perfect as a dj tool for those who want to go a little bit deeper. showcasing sameeds sense for keeping things stripped down and sweaty, still is a dirty exercise in acid witchcraft while getyoself can best be described as a delicately raw rhythm with dark textures.

the avotre crew comes together and delivers some house bangers. avotre mastermind sante needs no introduction. known for his unique style and various hits on cocoon, desolat and 8bit. he delivers a bangin house track that is set to rock the dancefloors. sidney charles & anna wall collaborate on the b-side with the track >deceit<. sidney has been tearing up the underground house scene for some time now and is known for delievering some dancefloor bangers. anna wall is the newst avotre signing and already has some big shows under her belt. this collabo is a energetic house track that is destined for great things.

when luke solomon got in touch and said he wanted to work with local talk we felt both honoured and happy, especially since we have been fans for a long time and mats actually booked him to his raw fusion club in the late 90s. he has been around long enough to be considered a legend within the scene. we couldnt agree more. lost channels, a 130 bpm piano driven and punk-dubby new york inspired house track comes in two versions. the raw & stripped version is exactly what the name says, sharp snares & hi-hats, piano chords, a driving rhythm with lukes trademark percussion sprinkled on top. the live piano version is actually the original version and is peppered with more of everything. bubbly fx, more of that staccato piano and of course that muscular bassline. for remix duties it is the return of an old local talk friend, wil maddams. it seems like wil has spent some time in detroit since last time. this remix sounds like something that would come straight out of the d, his clever drum programming holds this track together with its deep pads and bubbling bassline. it is a retro (but fresh) techno jam for 2014.

the second release in 2014 is yet another debut on local talk, the german trio tim vita, oliver gehrmann, xaver hirsh serve up their take on house music, jazzy and deep , warm & organic-sounding tracks. from the energetic yet jazzy opening track jazzclub to the to the forward pushing street sounds, they’ll have you smiling and vibing in no time. the flip, blessed munchkin, cleverly drawing things to a close and showcasing their jazz influences. simply put, their trinity ep is inspirational house music down to its soul. local talk is talking to you!

bristol native and musical wiz benjamin jacobs aka crackazat dazzled us since the first time we heard him a few years ago on futureboogie with his deep and jazzy electronic house not house sound. after a move to sweden and refining his characteristic music profile you will now find hints of floating points, faltydl, lone or underground resistance in his productions. its dance + music at its best and something truly special if you ask us! after a killer track (size up) on local talks off shoot label oneoffs and a bumpin piano remix for tony blitz our man crackazat is now here with his first solo release on local talk ... the candle coast ep. all three tracks are winners by themselves and its seriously tricky to single out any of them so its just up to you to choose your favourite cut. it wont be easy we tell you!
