repress 2019 - all that jelly and no toast - like when you find a bomb tune that s unavailable on 12-. the new sublabel of smile for a while is exactly about this. clubby house music by well-established producers as well as from lesser-known guys. french guy alex agore opens the ep with the lowtone remix of -what did i do- - cut-up garage house to the maxx. max chapman from london delivers another belter, a bassline-driven organ house tune with a minimalistic but very effective set-up. oleg poliakov - aka skat and one of the guys behind circus company - comes up with a sublime but powerful tech house tune, in the original sense of the genre name. -jazzve- is a tune by russian producer mutenoise. it s maybe the most original, innovative tune on this ep. full of surprises and cutting-edge elements - hard to compare to anything else around these days.

kim rapatti a.k.a mono junk presents the second volume of finnish electro all-star on his dum records imprint active since 1992. the new release is the latest chapter of mono junk collaborating with friends, recently with mesak and freestyle man. the a-side of finnish electro all-star (dum-040) features collaborations with top finnish electro duo morphology, who recently released an outstanding album on firescope label. electro por favor is a pulsating driving electro track with a killer bassline and vocals by rapatti electro at its best. raw, apocalyptic, solitary remix by mono junk follows the original. the b-side features collaborations between mono junk and a very special guest: goner a.k.a. martin maischen, who is known from many hot releases as the other half of german electro act sandbenders. they were at most active around the millennium and made releases for force inc. music works and science city. the two included tracks are deep electroid techno excursions made last year in berlin very cool stuff.

tafi allstars is a collaborative recording project between optimo music artists thomas lea clarke (mr tc) and conal blake (whilst) and members of the tafi cultural institute of tafi atome, ghana. after having previously visited tafi atome to take part in the music of the volta region study tours that are organised by tci in collaboration with green door studio, clarke and blake secured funding from creative scotland to travel back to tafi in november 2016 to record a mini-album of tracks that blend the rhythms and melodies of traditional borborbor and agbadza drumming forms and ewe songwriting with electronic instrumentation and dub recording techniques.

the foundation of this dub album was created by some of the finest sessions musicians ever to grace the studios of 1960s & 70s jamaica. their instruments were the cornerstone to countless dub lps that began to surface in the early 70s and continued on into the 80s creating a whole new genre of music. as they did back in the early days of dub, the kingston all stars gathered together in kingston, jamaica at mixing lab studios and laid down a series of riddims that would lay the groundwork for what comes next: the singers. both greenwich farm rasta, prince alla, and falsetto, cedric myton of the the congos, contribute vocals to the album but half of the riddims on this lp are, to date, unreleased, and have yet to be voiced. in essence, this album is a sneak peak into upcoming releases. the style of riddims that were created during these sessions range from the cumbia influenced reyes dub to the ethiopian jazz flavored kebra dub that pays tribute to the african sound system, kebra ethiopia sound and shows the wide variety of influences that fuel these musicians. tracks like dub ova combine ansel collins keyboard work with hux browns infectious grooves to create a funky rhythm that you have not heard the last of.

back on the selector tip, nyc loft trax compiles another volume of really nice deep, chunky and funky grooves! the a side promises a great selection with the first two tracks by kick that funk & bonjour sounding like a 1990 s chicago meets paris reunion! the 3rd track by subtle approach is created using deep dirty sliced and diced samples blended to perfection: stellar work. then there is a totally different vibe on the b-side starting off with a brazilian house groove by dubrazil surely influenced by the maw sound no doubt! next blackdub s classic disco meets detroit piece -melodies of dub- gives us a bit of theo parish or kenny dixon jr. feeling, hot! the final track by pascal cordoba is jazzy groove touched by australia s dj freestyle, who is on the radar lately due to the jordan fields & roy davis jr. warehouse find of -the session- on nu jack city records. you should have all 8 of the nyc loft trax vinyl at this point if not, why not?

nice price deal !!! all out war is a new label from richard hardcastle aka solid state, based in sheffield, uk. richard is known for his product of society edits on society recs, and work on toko, guidance, primitive and cookhouse recs in the late 90s/early 00s. the first all out war release is prisoners of wax vol 1, new edits by solid state, mastered for vinyl by warp legend rob gordon here in sheffield. the disco elements that marked their first 3 society releases are back in full effect... a: america - a radical extension of a french track from 1978, complete with fierce bass and guitar riffs, scything strings and urgent vocals plus police sirens for added drama... all out disco war! aa1: shortwave radiation - tames a once sprawling, 9 minute plus synth strumental behemoth. this 6 1/2 minute version lowers the tempo and cuts the flabbier excesses of the original to produce a far leaner, fitter space monster. aa2: if u love me started life as a quaint little spanish number in 1977. this version ditches the verses, allowing the intro and chorus to take centre stage. the resulting track has a hypnotic, spacey atmosphere... a quiet storm!

first light is the first full-length album of original songs from easy star all-stars. the easy star all-stars have built a huge following around the world, having sold over 350.000 records and played shows in over 30 countries on 6 continents. the band - a collective from the nyc scene overseen by producer/guitarist michael goldwasser - has always played original music in its live set, some of which was released on until that day, an original ep in 2008. first light is an important step in the bands story, demonstrating a wide range of approaches to reggae, from progressive to classic, roots to futurist, confirming the all-stars place as one of the most influential acts on the us reggae scene. the album includes 12 songs and one dub, with guest appearances by the meditations, cas haley, junior jazz, lady ann and tony tuff.
the vinyl release includes a download code.

harry j galt als einer der wichtigsten produzenten jamaikas, betätigte sich aber auch selbst als musiker. mit seinen allstars genannten studiomusikern brachte er drei instrumental-alben heraus. das debüt gibt es jetzt als re-release auf vinyl in 180g. *liquidator* erschien 1969 und wurde vor allem in großbritannien ein großer erfolg. der titeltrack zählt zu den wichtigsten songs der damals entstehenden skinhead-kultur und schaffte es auf platz 9 der uk singles charts. weitere highlights auf *liquidator* sind die rocksteady/reggae-versionen des beatles-songs *dont let me down* und des bardot/gainsbourg-duetts *je t aime*. in seinem harry j studio nahmen u.a. bob marley & the wailers auf. dort empfing harry auch musikgrößen wie die rolling stones, the who oder grace jones.
