tokyo based synth outfit trans of life shows some true talent on this double sided single. their productions combine some amazing sounds as wholesome 4/4 house, deep electronic overtones, chill jazz, and latin melodies. foi voce (tol vocal) has lovely portuguese verses & melodies sung by yukiko koga. this is a full on vocal mix chill enough for the lounge and fancy enough for a 5 star dining hall. their dubs go a bit deeper and darker and are a lot more dance floor effective. the vocals turn to echoes and quasi chanting and a myriad of sounds flow in and out of this tune. the masterful original delight earth, a body & soul party favorite, show just how talented these guys are. full of trumpet solos and latin conga rhythms with plucked stringed guitars make for a sensational ride. back to the club on their dub... great package!!

deepgroove aka grayson shipley & lee pattison from bristol have crafted their skills at venues like bristols seminal lakota, emerging with a sound that incorporates a hefty measure of eclecticism within a framework of deep and twisted tribal grooves. never fearing to tread a different path when it comes to firing a crowd, their performances marry a healthy degree of contempt for convention, to an obvious reverence for the original precepts of house music. using the 4-deck format, not as a tool for ostentatious displays of mixing prowess, but as a template for experimentation, deepgroove throw everything at the crowd, embarking on sonic voyages that range from the sultry to the surreal, with the funk never being too far from the surface. coming from a strong musical background growing up around jazz musicians in west london, jamie anderson also had a love for electronic music and the art of mixing records which has been with him ever since the early electro and hip hop days
milwaukee based label lotus lands 5th release takes us back to early 80s louisiana. rare and unreleased material from the crystal band here, soulful and sophisticated. dusted synth work and jazzy horns intertwine in music to create a club track with surefire appeal to disco, funk, and modern soul heads worldwide. giving my love up to you echoes with the spirit of classic leroy hutson. a beautiful mid tempo soul song perfect for fans of tearra just loving you and arnold blairs trying to get next to you!
la danse de l hibouthe fourth release with bucketround follows the path left by his past references, not disregarding the exploration of new horizons. oval future face (bucketround recs) grants us his peculiar way of understanding electronic music. avoiding the hype or settled guidelines la danse de l hibou brings us right in the middle of the night where nocturnal birds of prey hunt. we are in front of his deepest work so far, full of details and rhythmical shifts shrouded in minimal sound with its own soul... as if it was meant to be just for this work, it is apt for lounge listening, dancefloors or even forests. the re mixes collection does not fall short on quality: pablo bolivar (regular) as usual everything he touches turns into gold and this time pablo does not disappoint. nimble groove full of hectic changes and sudden pauses enriches this melodic remake. a real dancefloor hit. angel galan (add sensor) theres no rule for crafting remixes and angel is the clearest example. an amazing explosion of multicolor strokes transformed into tangled logic sound.

moeller s third, already highly anticipated ep for third ear, following the jazz space ep (3eep-068) and the one man s junk ep (3eep-088).once again we have selected 4 cuts of varying mood and intensity to create an ep offering many possibilities for the dj and a rewarding home listening experience. a1 - traffic (new wipers mix) is a driving wide-screen track which will turn the dancefloor into a heaving mass of frequencies and beats. this is close to a peak-time track. this is a high intensity track that holds the vibe in a state of impending release underpinned with a deep, open groove. 126bpm. a2 - slight transition takes the vibe very deep and keeps it there. a simple (genuinely less is more) drum pattern of a lightly hit snare drum, hi-hat and occasionally shaken guiro over a hypnotic bass pattern, hold the track in place for nearly seven minutes. a masterful control of tension offering the dj a number of options for where to take the dancefloor from this moment s respite. 119bpm.
after being charted throughout the past few months with his label s previous release >slower lov<, cesare vs disorder continues to deliver the goods on his >mean< imprint with a divine release from long-term friend and musician ollie silva aka canary fontaine. here we are again with some obscure yet funky, driving and danceable material, the recognisable trademark sound that mean has been carving for the past two years. there s a certain latin vibe throughout the whole ep that shows ollie s chilean background, especially when he adds his live musical skills with congas, toms, guitars, basses, voices, anything he can get his hands on! the productions on this release are delicate and refined, with >clothes horses< being a deep rhythmic and harmonious jazz adventure, while >arizona creeping< and >cindy says so (feat. eddie smith aka zippy)< result in some very solid minimalist bouncy techno, two powerful alternatives that simply roll many danceable and percussive elements into one package, perfect for dark rooms during journey times. cesare vs disorders noctambular version of >cindy says so< will be on the vinyl release to add some spice to the dancefloor in his usual psichadelic rockin way.
alan abrahams, the man behind portable, emerged out of the ruins of a post apartheid south africa. growing up in an impoverished cape town township, tagged >beverly hills< by the locals, abrahams was always immersed in his sisters ritual of getting ready for a night out to a soundtrack of 80s soul, hi life and hip hop. inspired by the first batch of chicago house records, the foundations were laid for his future in music. experimenting with ways of combining traditional african rhythms with the 4/4 sound of house, abrahams completed various projects in south africa. most of which gave a commentary to the political turmoil of the country at the time. abrahams inevitably became frustrated by the geographic isolation of the country and relocated to london in 1997. in the uk abrahams went on to complete various releases for internationally recognised labels such as context and background records before starting up his own label, süd electronic in 2002

wdywsw is a slice of high energy powerpop, with affecting agitprop lyrics asking one of the most relevant questions of our troubled times. parisian genius rob totally flips the script by translating the song into the sad, plaintive language of late night soul searching. and thanks to pacifics elegant pop version, the sun is beaming from sweden. poney poneys first album is being recorded right now, with xavier de rosnay (of the justice fame) still rolling for the band. beware.

larissa kapp was born in some idyllic concrete jungle city called asbest in russia, where she spent the first ten years of her life in a minimal, urbanely grey surrounding. there were not too many things, to keep her away from nerdish piano playing, until her family went to germany. there, after years of piano, singing and dance lessons (ballet, jazz, modern), she started her studies on a music high school, which, to be honest, wasnt exactly, what she wanted to learn.
