das sechskšpfige souljazz orchestra aus ottawa ist fŸr ein orchester zwar etwas klein geraten, dafŸr fallen spielfreude und selbstverstŠndnis auf sympathische weise grš§er aus. seit 2002 ist das politisch sendungsbewusste sextett in der originalbesetzung unterwegs, und wurde dabei schon dreimal fŸr den kanadischen juno award nominiert. ihre lyrisch starken texte verpacken die kanadier vielseitig und multilingual mit 80er-vintage-synthies in tropische lo-fi-tanznummern, die von einflŸssen aus soul, ethio-jazz, sixties-funk, afrobeats und latin zehren. 2007 gelang der band mit -mista president- ein internationaler club-hit, der nicht nur das interesse von gilles peterson weckte, sondern auch die tŸr zum label strut (mulatu astatke, ebo taylor, idris ackamor & the pyramids) šffnete. dort erschienen die alben -rising sun- (2010), -solidarity- (2012), -inner fire- (2013) und zuletzt -resistance- (2015). in dieser zeit kam es zu kollaborationen mit musikern von nigeria bis ruanda und kuba bis haiti. bei seinen zahlreichen ausverkauften shows teilte sich das kollektiv die bŸhne mit musikalischen schwergewichten wie femi kuti, stevie wonder und bob dylan. auch -under burning skies- zeichnet sich durch einen passionierten, analog produzierten groove-mix aus, der einfach nur glŸcklich macht.

fee fire ist der neue film von ben wheatley (high rise, sightseers,kill list, down terrrace) mit brie larson und cillian murphy in den hauptrollen und martin scorsese als ausfŸhrendem produzenten. der titel bezieht sich auf den epischen shoot-out in diesem coolen 70er jahre gangster-movie. der score stammt von geoff barrow (portishead, beak) und ben salisbury. das album enthŠlt zudem dialoge aus dem film und lizensierte stŸcke von kŸnstlern wie the real kids, creedence clearwater revival und john denver. cd wie doppel-lp enthalten eine zusŠtzliche download card, die nicht nur die stŸcke des albums sondern auch zusŠtzliches material enthalten. die doppel-lp (140g) erscheint in einem gatefold-sleeve, das vinyl ist silberfarben
