derrick carters seminal sound patrol album originally released in 1994, * sweetened - no lemon*, will see a re-release in january 2016. the alias provided a place for carter to explore deeper and sometimes more atmospheric styles. the sound patrol record originally came out via chicagos organico label, while derrick carters own arts & labour is handling the reissue. the triple vinyl re issue adds four new unreleased tracks. the whole album has been re mastered for 2016. this follows a limited edition sampler 12 inch released in 2015 which contained another 2 unreleased tracks.

aside from being the originator and creator of the osmose sound 7inch vinyl record stabiliser, dj osmose is a purveyor of the finest house and disco concoctions, a man who has clearly dedicated his life to both house culture and the vinyl format - we dig. this time hes up on the newly crowned morgan avenue edits, and first up is a collaboration with bydesign, a track entitled red light disco, and one that is a total discoid banger, backed by one hell of a baseline. hazardous disco sees the man go solo and deeper than before, serving up a beautiful, vocal-laden, string-heavy disco joint for the modern ear, followed by the smooth-as-silk groove of i dont wanna know. stunningly fab.

limited information on this release, it contains two super edits that have been heavily road tested on a certain soundsytem that is currently doing the rounds. not much information beyond that but the music speaks for itself. slow mo with impact and energy. more soon.

damien lynch is a gentleman youve met in a past life. emerging with this debut, he steps nicely into a home at the esp institute. on side a, we‘re invited to the heights, a transcendent state where the negative space between the notes is equally as important as his lush instrumentation. damiens build-up of warm analogue machines twinkle and stab, leading way to a memorable hook, a squelching chord melody full of live nuance and energy. on side b, safe house plays out a similar theme in terms of arrangement, however, the ethereal space damien creates with the kalimba and driving arpeggios elevates us to an even higher plane, where his lead floats gracefully across the stereo spectrum, blanketing the fast-paced rhythms with a calming sense of purity. were serious when we say that these two songs will guide you toward enlightenment.

mosco fell asleep and awoke days later with red axes. this is their joint offering for the esp institute. dikembe manutu, the fictional character whos name gives title to our thumping a side, establishes a lush theme based on meandering steel drums and reverberating toms while a slew of rich percussion leads us through the jungle on a melodic galloping bassline. once this deep groove gets us rolling, were treated to a variety of twinklling melodies that float high above. on side b, rage in the cage is a true live drum machine jam, full of bleeps, detuned toms, abrasive cymbals, and plenty of left turns. we can only imagine the mood in the studio as these three old friends frantically smacked buttons and tweaked knobs, creating happy accidents and loving every menacing moment of chaos as they stirred this cauldron. these two songs will make you thirst for exotic nectars.

not an animal return with their 2nd installment, this time from ess o ess (aka chris stoker and jamie blanco). their original offering, cantillate, isn t an easy beast to identify, being equal parts swamp-rock and techno. imagine you ve stumbled across an ephedrine and moonshine fueled rave in a deep louisiana bayoux in the year 3000, and you re close. add an out-there vocal refrain, and you ll start to appreciate why this is a particularly distinct record. relocate said rave to a some kind of space ship hitting hyperspace, with photon torpedoes fully armed, and you ll suddenly find yourself with the first remix, as created by ene records owner chida.
