>the voices< is the debut 12 inch from bobby and annie. drawing on their experiences as residents at the mint club, uk, the pair have crafted a versatile ep that sits as comfortably in a peak time set as it does on a hazy 6am dance floor. taken from a collection of vocal out-takes the voices have been cleverly obscured through various production techniques and layered around drums and old school analogue synth lines to unique effect. the results are two haunting, hypnotic, yet upbeat dj tools. the title track, >voices<, uses deftly interwoven vocal samples as the focus and driving hook. shuffled percussion takes a back seat amidst a discordant, attention-grabbing synth interlude that harks back to the playful garage sound of90s chicago house. the outcome is dramatic, intense and functional. on the b-side, >loose ends<, is a more rugged affair that gives the bass and drums centre stage. the vocals are pitched and trippily float in and out of the track whilst the familiar sound of fairlight stabs punctuate the groove. the effect is eerie, yet accessible, and rounds off this stunning ep.

with the release of >free k. loudwiggle< the accumulation of impressions from over the last 2 years has ended. the musical production took about 21 months working in berlin and the circle. during the productionperiod my technical tools and instruments enormously developed making it a very inspiring time to create and arrange rythmics and harmonies.
at a dark night in autumn 2009 i decided to move back from berlin to the circle. back around christmas 2009 the quiet wintermonths took over and re-created the studio in the circle where i was able to sitdown and mixdown the tracks i created over the last 21 months in berlin.
for the first time i decided to give this particular album the unique touch by handmaking all the artwork. every single record has been handstamped both sides, the covers manually printed and put together. all 200 pieces are different and have their own singular identity. now, at the end of june 2010 i can present this big collection of expressions. quagmire ltd is a small platform to release this debutalbum. limited to 200 pieces of triplepack 12 inch including 13 mixes.

in the world of factory presets, default settings and copy-paste ethics, there are few artists that actually care to make a difference. and -who told you that?-, 29th release on warsaw recognition label, is certainly a voice to be heard. the title track is another subtle narrative from label boss jacek sienkiewicz. eerie chord and a solid, damp beat from the start are underpinned by sherds of dialogue - snippets of words and laughter keep coming back in the mix, providing some sort of uneasy commentary towards todays minimal house formula. but at some point the voices disappear - and then the tracks gently goes somewhere outside the boundaries of todays club music, somewhere otherworldly. this shift, albeit amazingly subtle, is a leap towards music free of any defined context, far beyond dancefloor and definitely original. if this sneak peak into the possible futures of manmachine induced visions is too much to handle, there is still the b-side of this release. two tracks here - both clocking around mere 5 minutes - are prime exercises in compact, clever, tight and efficient club tools. uplifting -cobalt drive- is bound to to be quoted and reworked into many forms of a late-night burner. patefon, on the other hand, is a peak-time stormer with its stuttering chords and moody samples, supposedly picked from some vintage shellac discs

sweet 4 track ep by this newcomer... 3ear has a great ear for new artist! sarrass is hailing from the south-west of germany. he began his musical career by studying trumpet and piano and performing in small classical and jazz groups. later, after learning about klaus schulze he got in touch with techno which has (as we all know) a huge impact! he debuted release on compost black with the >home at the sea< ep. third ear discovered him and signed this sweet 4 track ep! a nice blend of detroit techno with abstract electronical sounds as being used by klaus schulze and the early german pioneers and contemorary house. great modern club tools with a nice personal twist! check!

kurbits 004 marks the return of dan andrei who brings the romanian dirt with two dusty, percussive techno tools. first out on the label side is ramble on, an old school house rhythm. driven by a shaker in a jacking groove and topped off with a rambling vocal about nothing at all, because after all these vocals about >house music<, whats left to say? just put the track on and get the groove on! four sticks on the info side is a straight up techno banger built on a rolling house groove. no funny business, just a sublime percussion workout with little but essential hints of melody to let you catch your breath, then straight back to the groove! we sincerely hope youll have as much pleasure with these tracks as we are. well be back soon with new and exciting rhythms. happy mixing!
