the debut ep from aussie producers turner street sound has finally blossomed! the duo comprised of rory mcpike (aka rings around saturn) and ryan hunter (aka midnighttenderness) first collaborated on stoned mix for domestic documents vol.1 in 2016, shaking bass bins in its path. the collection of tracks on bunsen vol.1 recorded between 2014 and 2017 encapsulate the boys influences with a turner street twist

pierre bastien is a french legend that has collaborated with artists such as robert wyatt, jac berrocal and jaki liebezeit, to name just a few. he is also very well known for his compositions based on home-made mechanical instruments, designed and constructed by bastien himself. pure diy. using these instruments he would create a heady experimental mix incorporating poetry and some far-out music, all in all very intriguing and original indeed. needless to say when the notion of pierre bastien and versatile records potentially making a project together arose, it was a total honour! throw into the mix esteemed electro-acoustic composer eddie ladoire and now we ve really got something interesting. eddie and pierre met when they appeared on the same concert bill together and they decided to collaborate further with versatile being the platform for the fruits of this particular project. the original version of phantom dance is a beautiful piece where bastien plays a trumpet into some water blended with electronic drums and mellow organs lines, creating an otherworldly, subterranean jazz vibe for the freaks. suzanne kraft, the la native / amsterdam based producer turns the original into some mechanical broken funk vibes while rotterdam s oceanic delivers 2 fresh, reimagined versions. one for for the club with a strong afro beat feel while the other one is a slower affair for the after hours. both mixes bringing something new to the table. a truly original and interesting release from some very talented people, for those with open ears and open minds!

following the astounding success of their first release with chaos in the cbd, yam recordings return with the first installment of their you and music compilation series. this 5-track release features leonidas, msss, sofatalk, tom esselle and z lovecraft. compiled by shop owners theo & tom and born of relationships forged at yam records on rye lane, it represents both local and international talent that they ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with over the past 3 years. tom esselle s le&#770,,let kicks things off with a traditional guadeloupean folk song re-worked for the club. driven by tropical percussion and a hefty bass line, the call-and-response vocal elevates the track. msss follows with this is a modern drugs party. this track chugs along, interlaced with african and far eastern influences, while tuned percussion adds a hypnotic element. modern drugs party indeed. on the flip, italian maestro sofatalk offers up truth theme, an afro broken-beat masterpiece prime for the summer. polyrhythmic percussion, twisted horn samples and vibe solos carry the release from the nightclub to the beach. leonidas takes things back to the floor on shesha dub). this analogue hardware session delivers crisp hats, acid bass lines and synth stabs aplenty. the syncopated rhythms drive the track through five-and-a-half minutes of pure groove. finally, z lovecraft closes the compilation with oceanic a live jam recorded in one take. this track invokes memories of video games, beach life and sun-kissed afternoons, transporting the listener to an audio oasis via a digital ocean.

limited to 500 copies with downloadcode included. continuing his work with memory not only as a subject but also as a process, michael anderson has culled many of the sounds on this record from the past. but this is not a record of rehashed material or remixes. rather, drekkas music is made through continually delving into an archive, digging up and repurposing old recordings, live performances, and forgotten snippets of the voices of out-of-touch friends.
