tube10 returns to the scene again with a release to blow your minds away. this time its the greek formation ekelon. their debut on planet mu with headhunter on mary anne hobbs evangeline had us in our grasp so much that we couldnt help ourselves then to hit them up and see what whould happen. tube10 005 is the result of this encounter and it shows ekelon flexing their crossover sound like no other. is it techno? is it dubstep? we dont know but we sure as hell love both tunes to bits!
the a side evidence - a steady tune in the ekelon sets and lots of others aswell. feel this tune filling up the speakers and rumbling up those subs we thought where lost.. a perfect blend between all that is experimental while keeping it dj friendly..flip it over for freeze land.. an chilled out tundra of techno, thats how we like to call it.. frozen subs combined with defrosted stepping vibes ensures this to be a solid first release for the ekelon boys.. and dont worry this wont be their last!

gem club is an exclusive society: two people, a piano, and a cello. vocalist christopher barnes sings in a quivering whisper, and these minimal accompaniments assure that their sound never becomes louder than a hush. but the massachusetts duo s debut ep, acid and everything, showed just how much emotional intensity you could pack into compositions so spare, and how much could be suggested with so little. everything on breakers, their first full-length, sounds frozen over: icy, quiet, austere. you know that eerie feeling when you find yourself alone in a huge public place that s usually crowded-- maybe a shopping mall or a playing field- but at that moment is totally empty? this record sounds like a sustained version of that feeling. -i heard the party- juxtaposes echoing piano chords and a general sense of unease (-no one could have told you / your body would fail you-) with the refrain -i heard the partys here- floating across the track like the sound of dried up laughter. the word -party- feels so out of place in a song so pensive and lonely that there s something jarring about the experience. the feeling crops up repeatedly on breakers: a sense of slow-motion detachment, a suggestion that there were signs of life here once, but you ve arrived a couple of hours- or maybe a couple of weeks- too late.

“the earth was incessantly covered in ice, it’s landscape an immense, frozen desert. boulders and sand washed to the valley, crushed under the glaciers’ enormous weight, leaving nothing but the hardest rock behind.” neunau draws inspiration from natural phenomenons, sculpting his indelible and furious expression into materials: a ritual guided only by the rhythm of his own heartbeat. composed exclusively of sounds recorded at the ancient forge museum in bienno, in the middle of one of the largest valleys in the central alps, neunau presents an experience that goes beyond simple listening. his tools — water, iron and microphones — are used to transport the listener through time and place. a true voyage through forgotten ritualism and symbolism, these extracts aim to grind contemporary dance music to its barest essentials, making long-lost times ours again.

stuck in time is a personal statement on a particular time and of particular experiences in my life. the sounds codebase choses to use on this album point towards an alternate universe of where music may have gone instead of where it is now, fusing analog disco bass and electric piano sounds reminiscent of the 1970s with sampled electronic percussion sounds of today. this juxtaposition crystallizes the temporally frozen sonic landscape of the album a musical fossil from somewhere outside the linear progression of time

boris bunnik is no stranger in the world of electronic music. he released several albums and ep’s under a variety of monikers since 2007 on labels like delsin, shipwrec, frustrated funk and his own transcendent imprint. fauxpas musik welcomes him for a new project called severnaya.
originally hailing from the island of terschelling, the most northern and remote part of the netherlands he now made a piece of music dedicated to this special place. severnaya means north in russian and refers to the bright frozen landscapes of the northern archipels. boris often plays with the influences and elements of ambient in his music. if we have to believe the man himself, polar skies is his most personal sound trajectory to come from his mind. drum programming is scarce and what remains is a lush and profound listening experience floating on scapes and melodies. we clearly hear his roots and intentions represented in the airy, tranquil sound design of this new album project. things sound spacious, and life is at ease in these melancholic compositions. crispy crackling percussions and icey pads place you in the midst of a resonant arctic landscape. you can hear influences drawn from producers like biosphere, pub, brian eno but we also hear more contemporary influences from modern day film composition but most of all we here boris his own signature. the tracks were composed over a couple of years (2015-2017) in a more contemplative mindset. at some point this selection formed a consistent piece of music and as a result you hear his most personal and fragile works to date. fauxpas musik is proud to release this new project in 2018. written and produced by boris bunnik aka conforce at the pasadenaoceanlab studios special thanks to family, friends and fauxpas musik for their support. this release comes in 180g vinyl and a hot foil stamping on the cover. vinyl tastes better...
