flying lotus fünftes album ist ein trip, das aehnlich wie das kernthema, der tod, von einer daseinsform zur naechsten springt, sich von einer klangdimension zur naechsten entwickelt. auf youre dead! verschmelzen klangwelten, visuelle welten, metaphysische welten, die virtuos miteinander verwoben einen vollkommen neuen stoff, ein transzendentes, bewusstseinserweiterndes plasma ergeben, das so nur in der Übergangszone oder zwischenwelt existieren kann. musikalisch orientierte sich flying lotus an den großen fusion-jazz-kollektiven der 1960er/1970er und an psychedelic-rock-lps. die anziehungskraft seiner klanglichen traumwelt ist in den letzten jahren so stark geworden, dass inzwischen auch schwergewichte aus anderen sphaeren wie kendrick lamar, snoop dogg oder jazzlegende herbie hancock davon angezogen werden. ein faszinierender, tief berührender trip.
