rich la bonte is a musician, writer and editor from upstate new york born in 1946. at age 11 he figured out how to record a piano backwards with his first tape deck and discovered monk, mingus and art blakey. in 1965 rich moved to ithaca, bought an electric guitar and started singing in garage rock band the huns. after the band dissolved, he moved to nyc and played bass and sang in the original cast production of the musical godspell. in the late 70s la bonte moved to hollywood with shari famous, released a a few 7” singles as dada2, and started flatdisk records, a vinyl subsidiary of dave gibson s moxie record company.

dieter meier, heir turned conceptual artist, joined boris blank to form the electronic synth group yello in the late 70s, but it wasnt until the late 80s that they had their biggest success with the international hit the race, which was used in advertisements and (sports) programs all over the world.
combining samples and beats with meiers deep and distinctive voice, yello became experts in combining the suave with the eclectic. 1998s flag contains the hit the race next to a number of experiments on afro-cuban rhythms, such as on tied up. this first vinyl re-release since 1989 comes on 180 grams audiophile vinyl with an insert.
dieter meier, heir turned conceptual artist, joined boris blank to form the electronic synth group yello in the late 70s, but it wasnt until the late 80s that they had their biggest success with the international hit the race, which was used in advertisements and (sports) programs all over the world.
combining samples and beats with meiers deep and distinctive voice, yello became experts in combining the suave with the eclectic. 1998s flag contains the hit the race next to a number of experiments on afro-cuban rhythms, such as on tied up. this first vinyl re-release since 1989 comes on 180 grams audiophile vinyl with an insert.

wer so groß ist wie grönemeyer, der muß nicht auf verkaufszahlen schielen und kann in ruhe so ein album machen wie es bleibt alles anders ist. da wird dem hörer schon einiges abverlangt. die stimme lässt keinen zweifel zu: das ist schon herbert aus bochum aber in großer experimentierstimmung. so erinnert fanatisch musikalisch sehr stark an -riders on the storm von den doors, während herbert seinen bedrohlichen text offenbar in einen telefonhörer hineinsingt. das titelstück wiederum ist ungeheuer dynamisch und intensiv. beide vereint die tatsache, dass man der message wirklich nur mit hilfe des cd booklets folgen kann. ich dreh mich um dich erschließt sich hingegen sofort: der komponist von flugzeuge im bauch hat das balladenschreiben nicht verlernt. bleibt alles anders ist ein komplexes kunstwerk. man muss sich sehr darauf einlassen und wird dafür mit wachsendem hörgenuss belohnt. was grönemeyer über die dauer von mehr als einem jahr in enger zusammenarbeit mit dem programmierer alex silva geschaffen hat, findet man auf dem deutschen markt so schnell nicht noch einmal. wolfram lumpe

“cuidado madame”, arto lindsay’s first full-length album of new material since 2004’s salt. the album is titled after an infamous 1970 julio bressane film about oppressed housemaids revolting against and brutally murdering their mistresses. the literal translation is “careful, madame.”

bonnie prince billy aka will oldham veröffentlicht mit “best troubador” eine hommage an einen seiner ewigen helden, country- und folk-ikone merle haggard. das werk von haggard begleitet bonnie prince billy nun schon seit mindestens 25 jahren. so coverte er nicht nur bei seinem ersten öffentlichen auftritt einen haggard-song. auch in den folgenden jahre seiner karriere bezog sich oldham immer wieder auf das werk und wirken haggards. das vorhaben, das nun im mai erscheinende album aufzunehmen, begleitete oldham schon eine ganze weile. das ziel war es, an der uralten tradition teilzuhaben, folk-songs an die nächste generation weiterzutragen. fast legte oldham das projekt auf eis, als er im april 2016 vom tod merle haggards erfuhr. statt in einem studio in nashville aufzunehmen, zogen sich oldham und seine mitmusiker zugunsten einer familiären aufnahme-atmosphäre in ein heimstudio zurück. so wurde dem andenken haggards werk durch besondere wärme und intimität würdevoller tribut gezollt.
