reissue des debütalbums (1981) der legendären psychedelic-dub-formation african head charge um den jamaikanischen produzenten & percussionisten bonjo iyaginhi noah, dessen damals undefinierbarer sound maßgeblichen einfluss auf experimentelle bass-labels wie hyperdub oder tectonic hatte. mit dem clubfavoriten *stebenis theme* und dem track *far away chant* aus david lynchs *wild at heart* soundtrack. re-cut by dubplates & mastering, berlin, for maximum bass pressure! lp auf schwarzem vinyl mit downloadcard und bedruckten innentaschen mit sleevenotes von steve barker (on the wire).

sherwood at the controls vol.2: 1985-1990 liefert 16 von sherwood produzierte oder remixte tracks zwischen electro, industrial, noise, hiphop, afrobeat und dub aus der zeitphase zwischen 1984 bis 1990. klassiker und raritäten, cd-erstveröffentlichungen und fünf(!) komplett unveröffentlichte tracks von lee perry, dub syndicate, bim sherman und african head charge. dazu ausführliche linernotes mit den entstechungsgeschichten der einzelnen tracks, archivfotos, lavelscans, uvm. alle formate unmixed.

trevor jackson erlang mit playgroup und als output labelbetreiber (lcd soundsystem, four tet) weltweiten ruhm, später stellte er die strut samplerserie metal dance zusammen. nun erhielt er den auftrag, die elektronische seite des adrian sherwood-labels on-u sound abzubilden, was ihm mit vorliegenden 27(!) tracks auch vorbildlich gelang. die doppel-cd/dreifach-lp science fiction dancehall classics bietet einen perfekten einblick in die früh-1980 er szene, als electro, dub und post-punk kollidierten. neben favoriten von african head charge, mark stewart + the maffia und dub syndicate finden wir den bislang unbekannten track dead come alive aus der frühphase von neneh cherry, sowie zahlreiche tunes, die erstmals auf cd erscheinen, darunter von bim sherman, tackhead und der späteren massive attack-sängerin shara nelson.
