ronald burrell s second release as equation on nu-groove is as deep as it gets. we re talking late night nyc back room deepness, often imitated but never bettered. -i ll say a prayer 4 u- is the lead track here, a sublime longing synth groove with a nagging bassline and crisp rimshots, a total -under the radar- anthem straight out of new york city circa 1991 and engineered by the equally as legendary bobby konders, a real undercover gem. the other two cuts on the ep drive further into the night, -domm domm, yeah mm hmm- is another dope basement groove, rocking some classic burrell flavours, and -my life- is a real down-tempo piece that reappropriates the roy ayers classic -my life in the sunshine- while giving it a real -100 bpm house- swing, don t snooze... all in all this is another classic release from the nu-groove vaults, re-mastered and re-pressed here for the first time in conjunction with nu-groove records and the burrell brothers. essential.

the back on track vinyl collection takes one of the most seminal and classic new york house labels of the late eighties and early nineties and lets the sort after producer nicholas painstakingly update the sound for 2011. this special edition collection is made of three limited edition heavy weight 180 gram vinyls with printed sleeves. each four track ep is individually coloured to make the complete set of three, light blue, orange and dark blue. on each ep there are four nu groove tracks re-edited by nicholas that include vinyl only exclusives. the collection reinterprets classic nu groove artists including bas noir, roqui and n.y house n authority.

after a quiet year jan hendez is back with new textures for this 4th output on lumbago’s imprint. this release, built around different construction and moods, welcomes 3 originals and a clever equation of those joints by the infamous professor le loup. welcome in the geeky cave! a1 is composed of strong, deep basslines that melts with beautiful synths and twisted rhythms that will bring you directly to space. a2 jan hendez achieve a really interesting mix of his influences with a track that we have difficulties to categorize, breakbeat oriented, also electro, but with his minimal touch. ravy and deep. b1 is the more housy oriented, a great tool for djs with a good drop of acid on the middle. b2, le loup used elements of the three originals to mastermind a clever track between minimal house, and electro.

the tracks on this new 12 inch build on the momenetum, with two tracks of stripped down dancefloor killers - >yeah!< is a monster builder, all todd edwards style swing and tight edits with crazy deep kicks, chopped up vocals, old school piano stabs, soaring strings, and hands in the air breakdowns. already being played out by drop the lime (check his latest exclusive mix for fact magazine where he opens his set with >yeah!<). >head work< on the b side is on more of a masters at work/harddrive era tip - deep garage beats tripping over themselves, burbling oddity synths, shuffling snares and the weirdest vocal melody breakdown/build-up ever!
the originals are complimented on the 12 inch by two remixes - tvo takes yeah! to another dimension altogther with a head destroying 140bpm hardcore junglist remix. on the flip, san franciscos eats tapes take >head work< into the wonkiest area of minimalist techno, showcasing their totally unique take on future groove.
the ep has been mastered by the irrefutable shawn hatfield/twerks special touch, bringing out the strengths of each track and tweaked for that perfect crisp warm vinyl pressing.
