after 14 years of close collaboration tony allen stopped working with fela anikulapo kuti. after breaking from the band during the gigs at berlins festival in 1978, tony allen returned to lagos to start working on new compositions. his independence inspired him to break-away from his regular routine of putting 2 tracks on every single album

after the success of the re-edits vol.1 the messengers (kev beadle & darren moss) are back with a couple of peak-time floor fillers for vol.2.
>first left< is a huge funky fusion bomb that will be sure to move any crowd. looping up the classic herbie tune >just around the corner< the boys have added some percussive flavours to give it a summery edge. side 2 is their rework of ray barrettos version of stevie wonders >pastime paradise<. extending the intro and giving it an extra little kick the tune builds into the perfect singalong tune for those bbq afternoons and summer nights.
both tracks have already found their way into the cd cases of gilles peterson, king britt, phil asher, rainer truby, simbad, eddy ramich, mad mats, michael rutten, rob luis, kay suzuki,dom servini, souled, nik weston, dj asparagus and jonny miller and getting major support from them all.

the messengers (kev beadle & darren moss) get busy re arranging and re jigging two classic tracks from back in the day. side 1 kicks off with creative love - a straight forward extended re arrangement of the excellent creative source version of ew&fs classic cant hide the love which really emphasises the brilliant chorus hook and creates a brilliant end of the night, hands in the air, sing a long vibe. on side 2 the boys get into jazz funk disco mode with an excellent re arranged and beefed up drum version of the 1978 classic six million steps by rahni harris re titled too many steps. both tracks have already been getting props and plays from the likes of gilles peterson, rainer truby, michael rutten, souled and nik weston.

the legendary paul simpson and keith thompson come together to experiment on projects just prime for peak time club action. having wanted to work with each other for years they finally found the time with, black skin blue eyed boys, a remake of the 1960s uk anti war classic by the equals. with a classy mix by super legend tom moulton, a pumping mix by dj romain, and an evolving, tribal affair from dj smash, its a production already making serious noise as a promo
